Kelley Pathway Pictures and SheNYC Arts have wrapped production on the dark comedy feature film 'Sheepwell,' starring Michole Briana White, Alix Lapri, Connor Paolo and producer Lauren Elizabeth Harris. Based on the Off Broadway play of the same title by Margaret Rose Caterisano, director Kim Caicedo adapted the story into a screenplay alongside Danielle DeMatteo. 'Sheepwell' is described as a feminist thriller that reveals what happens when an overconfident traveler messes with the wrong woman. Denise Grayson also acted in the film. 'Upon reading the script for the first time, I was immediately consumed by these women and the eerie, twisted Southern landscape that they're trying to survive in,' Caicedo said. 'This film is more than just a mystery and a thriller. It's a real-life depiction of what women in our society have to fear and fight for every day.' DeMatteo, who is also the founder and artistic director of SheNYC Arts, added, 'Sheepwell' is an incredibly special story that's kept all of us up at night at SheNYC, ever since we first read the original play script. We had the privilege of bringing it to life on an off-Broadway stage back in 2023, and it's going to be even more thrilling and shocking on screen.' Disney & Amazon Advertising Units Team Up: 'We're Breaking Down Traditional Barriers Between Content And Commerce'
The advertising divisions of Amazon and Disney are joining forces to open up new opportunities for streaming buyers. Under the partnership, Disney's Real-Time Ad Exchange and Amazon's demand-side platform (DSP) are being integrated. The team-up will give advertisers direct access to Disney premium inventory on Disney+, ESPN, Hulu and other platforms. Buyers will also be able to gain data from both companies that will make targeting more precise and incomes more efficient, the companies said. More from Deadline Netflix Adds Yahoo To Its Roster Of Programmatic Advertising Partners Amazon Ads & Roku Set Landmark Pact Giving Brands Access To 80% Of Connected-TV Households Byron Allen Reaches Settlement With McDonald's In Lawsuit Claiming Racial Bias In Advertising The initiative was announced at Cannes Lions, a day after Amazon's DSP also forged a major pact with Roku, giving advertisers access to more than 80% of U.S. connected-TV households. The Amazon-Disney pact will deliver curated deal packages through products like Disney's Magic Words contextual targeting and the upcoming connection to Disney Select, Disney's proprietary data offering. Advertisers on Amazon DSP will also soon be able to create specialized campaigns matching Disney's audience data with browsing, streaming and purchase insights from Amazon Ads. Enabling that specialization will be a direct collaboration between Amazon Publisher Cloud and Disney Compass, a data collaboration platform providing seamless access to all its planning, activation, and measurement capabilities. In an example provided by Amazon and Disney, a pet food brand could reach viewers who both watch Disney programming and have an interest in pet products sold on Kelly MacLean, VP of Amazon DSP at Amazon Ads, called the collaboration 'a significant leap forward in advertising effectiveness.' She added, 'We're breaking down traditional barriers between content and commerce signals, allowing advertisers to deliver more meaningful experiences to viewers. By connecting Disney's premium content with Amazon's deep consumer understanding, we're creating advertising that works better for everyone – brands reach the right audiences, publishers maximize their inventory value, and viewers see more relevant ads.' By hooking up with Amazon, 'we're enabling greater accessibility to inventory and audience signals that translate into meaningful results for advertisers leveraging Amazon DSP,' said Matt Barnes, VP of Programmatic Sales, Disney Advertising. 'Disney has been on a decades-long journey to unlock data and insights that reflect how our audiences watch and engage with our content. That knowledge has helped us move the needle for our clients and deliver better results–and this integration raises the bar for the wider industry.' Amazon and Disney will begin implementing the integrations with a select group of advertisers in the coming months. Disney+ inventory is also now available through Amazon DSP in France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Turkiye, and the UK – allowing Amazon DSP customers to access it in those territories. McDonald's and ESN reach settlement over advertising litigation
McDonald's USA and Entertainment Studios Network/The Weather Group (ESN) have settled a pending advertising litigation. The settlement of a $10bn lawsuit by media entrepreneur Byron Allen averts a trial that was scheduled for 15 July 2025 in Los Angeles federal court, as reported by Reuters. Allen, the owner of Entertainment Studios Network and The Weather Group, had accused McDonald's of "racial stereotyping" by not including Black-owned media in a significant portion of its advertising budget. Allen's allegations pointed towards McDonald's categorising Entertainment Studios as a media outlet targeting solely Black viewers, thereby relegating it to a smaller advertising budget instead of the general ad budget. He also claimed that McDonald's was dishonest about its 2021 pledge to increase national advertising spending with Black-owned media from 2% to 5% by 2024. According to Allen, he sought business from McDonald's based on this commitment, but his proposals were rejected. The confidential agreement involves McDonald's continuing its advertising purchases from ESN, aligning with its strategic and commercial goals. McDonald's USA said in a statement: 'We are pleased that Allen has come to appreciate McDonald's unwavering commitment to inclusion, and has agreed to refocus his energies on a mutually beneficial commercial arrangement that is consistent with other McDonald's supplier relationships. 'Our company's unique three-legged stool model relies on mutual respect, and we look forward to ESN's contributions to the betterment of our system.' ESN will also drop its lawsuit against the fast-food giant in the US District Court for the Central District of California. The terms of the settlement remain confidential, and McDonald's has not admitted to any wrongdoing. Entertainment Studios Network/The Weather Group stated: 'During the course of this litigation, many of our preconceptions have been clarified, and we acknowledge McDonald's commitment to investing in Black-owned media properties and increasing access to opportunity.' The advertising space purchased by McDonald's from ESN will be priced at market value. McDonald's settles Byron Allen's $10 billion lawsuit over commitment to Black-owned media
McDonald's has settled a $10 billion lawsuit by the media entrepreneur Byron Allen challenging the fast-food chain's alleged refusal to advertise with Black-owned media. Friday's settlement between McDonald's and two of Allen's companies, Entertainment Studios Networks and the Weather Group, averts a scheduled July 15 trial in Los Angeles federal court. It also resolves Allen's related $100 million lawsuit against McDonald's in Los Angeles Superior Court. McDonald's said it will buy ads "at market value" from Allen's companies "in a manner that aligns with its advertising strategy and commercial objectives." Settlement terms are confidential. McDonald's, based in Chicago, denied wrongdoing in agreeing to settle. In a statement, Allen's companies said "we acknowledge McDonald's commitment to investing in Black-owned media properties and increasing access to opportunity. Our differences are behind us." Allen had accused McDonald's of "racial stereotyping" by not advertising with Black-owned media, and lying when it pledged in 2021 to boost national ad spending with those media to 5% from 2% by 2024. He said he relied on that pledge when seeking new business from McDonald's, only to be rebuffed. Allen also said his Allen Media Group represented more than 90% of Black-owned media. Allen's networks include The Weather Channel, Justice Central, and
