A new beachfront destination has arrived in Dubai. After months (and months) of waiting, J1 Beach Dubai opened in 2024 and is now home to 13 licensed fine-dining concepts. From South of France export Bâoli to uber-elegant Italian Gigi Rigolatto, there is plenty of delicious cuisines to discover along the 500-metre shoreline strip. The best J1 Beach restaurants in Dubai African Queen J1 Beach Dubai. Since opening its doors in 1969 in Beaulieu-sur-Mer on the French Riviera, African Queen is all about Med sophistication. Known for serving up Riviera classics, African Queen has attracted a fancy clientele and has drawn in some global icons. When it opened in Dubai at J1 Beach it instantly became a go-to place for Dubai diners to visit. Time Out Dubai even spotted Lindsay Lohan grabbing a bite to eat with her husband. The Dubai location features African-inspired décor (there are a lot of leopard and zebra patterns everywhere). Launching its first outpost worldwide at J1 Beach at La Mer, Chouchou is a members-only beach house with a restaurant that serves upscale family-style French cuisine with a twist, while the beach house remains exclusive to members. The venue also includes a living room, a rooftop terrace, and its very own signature pool. Inspired by iconic locations like Paris and Saint-Tropez, Gigi features a menu of classic Italian cuisine, highlighted by its 'Bellini Bar' offering both traditional and modern variations of the classic peach drink. The venue accommodates 240 guests, with 120 indoor seats and spacious terraces. Families are welcomed with the Gigi Circus, a kids' club packed with fun activities. Tulum-inspired eatery GITANO is a Mexican-themed spot that features traditional dishes as well as a 'Gypsy Disco' experience for guests. Founded by British-born James Gardner, the venue is kitted out with a modern jungle feel, branded with neon signs and of course, the iconic disco ball – a nod to its New York flair. INA, meaning fire or flame in Nigerian Yoruba, boasts Dubai's largest open-flame grill and serve up fresh-high quality fish, meat, vegetables and grains in view of the guests. Blending open fire cooking with fine dining, the menu is a collaboration from Evgeny Kuzin and acclaimed chef Glen Ballis. Nodding to African heritage, the decor is definitely one for the 'gram, while the dishes will all be cooked on Dubai's largest open-fire grill. Created by chef Michael Collantes, a chef with deep roots in Hawaii, the menu blends Asian-Polynesian flavours with dishes like braised beef cheek loco moco and pulpo anticuchero. While the pool area is exclusively for adults, families with children can take advantage of the beach facilities, ensuring there is something for everyone. La Baia Dubai J1 Beach Dubai. This restaurant and beach club is packed with an air of *that's amore*, from the stripy sunbeds to the fresh lemons on the tables. Serving up dishes from Southern Italy, the menu will include everything from Mediterranean seafood to artisanal pastas, stuffed zucchini flowers and some ultimate burrata creations. Inside the restaurant, there's even an exclusive dessert room, where you can admire the sweet treats taking centre stage (think tiramisu, Sicilian cannoli and of course, creamy gelato). Guests explore unique dishes like ceviche Gallego, Galician octopus, and vieiras with caviar, incorporating biodynamic ingredients inspired by lunar cycles. The bar serves signature drinks tied to the four elements and pre-Columbian traditions. Ninive Beach Dubai One of the first Middle Eastern-inspired beach clubs in Dubai (and how has it taken this long to launch one?), Ninive Beach is already a very popular destination at J1 Beach. Designed to look like a stunning Morrocan majlis, the indoor/outdoor space features a turquoise tiled pool, rich earth tones and traditional textiles. All with a cool and modern twist. In addition to delicious Lebanese, Iraqi, Turkish and Moroccan cuisine, Ninive Beach also offers pool and beach access, chic sunbeds and Moroccan-inspired cabanas. The venue also hosts cool events and monthly DJ sets from global artists. Open daily from 10am-2am. J1 Beach, Jumeirah 1, (04 498 4200). Sakhalin J1 Beach Dubai. Created by famous Russian chef Vladimir Mukhinan, the beachfront spot Sakhalin is inspired by Sakhalin Island (Russia's biggest island). Here, you can expect a menu that features Russian, Mediterranean and Asian blends. Sounds complicated, but it works. Located at J1 Beach Sakhalin has views of the Arabian Gulf, a gorgeous terrace and a stunning centrepiece fountain under an illuminated roof installation made from shimmering light. Restaurant Review: Baoli at J1 Beach is a chic, Cannes-style escape
One of the glittering jewels in J1's elegant and aspirational crown is the ever-chic Bâoli. The half-indoor, half-outdoor restaurant was filled to the brim with beautiful and glamorous diners, sipping blush, and enjoying sparkling conversation, creating an infectious buzz throughout the space. The views of the Arabian Gulf beyond the pristine infinity pool perfectly framed the restaurant's open-plan concept, immediately putting us at ease and creating an air of vacation. We were seated and instantly welcomed by our warm, French waiters, flown in from the Cannes establishment to mark the new opening. The seamless service added to the 'holiday' feel of the place, with the French waiters catering to our every whim before we even anticipated it ourselves. We had a refreshing aperitif and then, the meal began with a series of raw crudos, including salmon ceviche, tuna belly in ponzu, and hamachi topped with shaved truffle and crispy ginger. The hamachi was to die for. Following the raw selection, we enjoyed crispy kimchi gyoza and togarashi-topped squid — both utterly delectable. The standout, however, had to be the chicken karaage, coated in a sweet and spicy glaze, each bite delivering the perfect balance of crunch, tang, and juicy freshness. For mains, we opted for sharing plates, both of which sounded absolutely epic. The glazed half rack of lamb had hints of curry and a delightful char in all the right places. The hero dish of the lunch, without a shadow of a doubt, was the creamy, umami-packed lobster udon. Served tableside in a beautiful claypot, the udon was coated in an indulgent sauce, cut by fresh chunks of lobster tail, delicately shaved spring onions, and hints of sesame throughout. As one of the more extravagant lunches of my life, the indulgence didn't stop there. The meal concluded with a sesame chocolate fondant, cooked to perfection and topped with a delightfully sweet and savory sesame brittle. Alongside, it was the banana millefeuille — a perfectly rich and satisfying bite.

Bâoli Dubai Review: Where Glamour, gastronomy and golden hour collide
The Cannes creation includes a restaurant, a secret speakeasy and a beautiful beachfront. As the final piece of the J1 Beach jigsaw puzzle falls into place, Dubai's latest beachfront destination is complete. This stretch of carefully curated coastline has become the talk of the town, its allure built on an enviable collection of beach clubs imported from Cannes, St. Tropez, and Tulum. While each venue along this coveted strip has its own personality and price point, Bâoli Dubai promises leisure, luxury and sun-drenched hedonism. Bâoli's allure extends far beyond its iconic name. Backed by Sunset Hospitality Group, the team behind FACT Award-winning AURA Skypool, Mott 32, and Signor Sassi, the Bâoli brand is bolstered by a designer Prada boutique on-site and what is, without question, the largest swimming pool on this glittering strip. Designed by Barcelona's acclaimed Lázaro Rosa-Violán Studio, this waterfront wonder channels the chic charisma of the original Cannes location while creating a setting that is distinctly Dubai. Bâoli offers a blend of coastal cool and Asian mystique, with natural stone, light wood, ornamental textures and cascading greenery lending an immersive edge to every corner, from the petal-shaped Sun Deck to the serene indoor-outdoor dining room. Executive chef Omar Basiony has worked wonders, ensuring the legacy of the Bâoli brand runs through the culinary offering without carrying one dish over from the flagship venue in Cannes. The result is a menu of Mediterranean fare kissed with Japanese precision. A prime example of this approach is the French Sea Bream Carpaccio. Its spiralling ribbons of flesh arranged like petals and dressed with wasabi, spicy miso, and mandarin. The fish hails from a farm off the coast of the original Bâoli in Cannes, paying tribute to the brand's birthplace. Just as striking is the Tomato Carpaccio (AED 80), where chunky Uzbek Couer de Boeuf tomatoes mingle with a delicate yuzu crème fraîche, tomato vinaigrette, and crispy tanuki crumbs. The raw and robata dishes are where the menu excels. The Spicy Tuna Maki (AED 125) pops with crispy quinoa and red tobiko, while the show-stealing Hamachi Crunch (AED 130) delivers a touch of texture and sweetness with its fried exterior, sweet potato purée, and a delicate hamachi tartare. Luxurious ingredients elevate classic Japanese favourites. The Otoro Nigiri, crowned with caviar, is a beautiful bite, while the Toro Uni Bowl, paired with a textured cracker, brings silky, briny intensity in every bite. From the robata, the 300g MB10 Pure Blood Wagyu Striploin (AED 750) is unapologetically indulgent. Charred shishito peppers sit beside slices of perfectly tender beef, each bite layered with umami and smoke. For seafood lovers, the Taraba King Crab (AED 320), grilled whole and slathered in yuzu kosho butter, is decadent and deeply satisfying. However, it's the 12-hour Short Rib (AED 180) that steals the show. Slow-cooked sous vide style and then skewered and charred on the grill, it's a textural triumph paired with tarragon mustard. Desserts are no less theatrical. Glace à Gogo (AED 120) arrives in a cloud of dry ice, a deconstructed sundae featuring Taiyaki-shaped Madeleines glazed in vanilla and brown butter, providing moreish morsels to dip into the sharing portion of velvety crème fraiche gelato. Visiting on a Sunday, we discovered the party-ready polish of Bâoli Dubai. A cosmopolitan crowd soaking up the sun, live percussion and a soundtrack that veers from Drake to Kanye West via Middle Eastern melodies. Framed by towering palms and frangipani trees in full bloom, the central pool is a glistening blue canvas surrounded by pristine daybeds and private cabanas. As the daylight dims, the energy shifts and attention turns to the Moon Room, an elegant speakeasy designed for intimate evenings and crafted cocktails. Bâoli has long been a celebrity magnet with Eva Mendes, Naomi Watts, Jay-Z and Sienna Miller among its loyal Cannes clientele. Its Dubai outpost seems set on continuing the tradition, with French Montana spotted poolside. We even peeped Anthony Joshua as we exited the venue. This heady mix of refined design and A-list energy makes Bâoli Dubai more than just another beach club.
