T-JUDA, T-SRDA call off strike after meeting Health Minister
The Telangana Junior Doctors' Association (T-JUDA) and the Telangana Senior Resident Doctors' Association (TSRDA) have called off their proposed state-wide strike that was scheduled to begin on June 30 and July 1. The decision was taken after representatives from both the associations met Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha at his office in Sangareddy on Sunday. In an official statement, both the associations extended their gratitude to the government for taking prompt and positive action on key issues affecting junior doctors, senior residents, and contract faculty working across government medical colleges, in the State. The government has approved a hike in stipends, a crucial issue that has been at the heart of the associations' negotiations. It has also issued the Budget Release Order (BRO) required for the regular disbursal of stipends to house surgeons and postgraduate students. Additionally, the extension of contracts for senior residents, a key concern raised by TSRDA, has been confirmed, along with the continuation of services for Government Contract Assistant Professors whose terms were nearing expiration, they said.

Foundation stones laid for multiple development projects including road expansion works in Husnabad
Minister for Transport and Backward Classes Welfare Ponnam Prabhakar has said that the Husnabad constituency is witnessing comprehensive development with a focus on education, health, road infrastructure and other key sectors under the current Congress government while he was addressing a public meeting in the Husnabad town of Siddipet district on Friday. He along with the Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha, Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageshwara Rao and Roads & Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy participated in a slew of development programmes held in the constituency earlier in the day. The ministers inaugurated 50-bed Matha Sishu Arogya Kendram built at an estimated cost of Rs 11.50 crore, laid the foundation stone for a 150-bed government hospital building at a cost of Rs 82 crore and four-laning of the Kothapalli-Husnabad main road with an outlay of Rs 77.20 crore in separate programmes held in the town. Mr. Prabhakar said that classes in the newly sanctioned Satavahana University Engineering College in Husnabad will commence from this year. The Gouravelli project works are progressing at a brisk pace, he added, taking a dig at the previous BRS government for allegedly neglecting the Husnabad constituency in its 10-year rule. Mr. Venkat said the road infrastructure in the constituency is poised for major upgradation, 'The four-laning works of Sundaragiri-Kothapalli will be taken up with an outlay of Rs 80 crore soon.' Mr. Raja Narasimha said that they have laid a special focus on strengthening medical and nursing education as well as improving the infrastructure in government hospitals and public health delivery systems. As many as 16 nursing colleges have been set up with an intake of 950 seats under the current Congress government, he said, adding that the bed strength in the Husnabad government hospital is poised to increase to 250.

‘Telangana records over 50,000 new cancer cases every year'
Every year, Telangana records around 50,000 to 55,000 new cancer cases. These numbers are not just statistics, they represent the lives of individuals and families being profoundly impacted by this deadly disease. Early detection is key to survival, said Telangana Minister for Health C. Damodar Raja Narasimha while speaking at the silver jubilee celebrations of Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital and Research Institute in Hyderabad on Sunday (June 22). To tackle this rising challenge, the Minister announced a series of public health interventions aimed at decentralising cancer care. 'We are planning to introduce mobile cancer screening units in every district and will also establish dedicated cancer care centres. These facilities will offer comprehensive services, including screening, diagnosis, day-care chemotherapy and palliative support,' he stated. Reflecting on the journey since its inception in 2000, hospital's chairman and actor, Nandamuri Balakrishna credited the transformation of the hospital, from a 110-bed facility to 700 beds, to the steadfast support of donors and well-wishers. 'Now, we are setting our sights on a new milestone, a thousand-bed cancer hospital in Andhra Pradesh. Work on the first phase will begin soon,' he announced. Governor Jishnu Dev Varma attended the inaugural function as chief guest and inaugurated the Linear Accelerator, a radiotherapy machine installed at the hospital.

Health Minister reviews power supply readiness in govt. hospitals
Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha chaired a review meeting at the Secretariat on Wednesday, focusing on uninterrupted power supply in government hospitals and monsoon-related preparedness. Highlighting the need for seamless electricity in emergency medical services, the Minister directed officials to assess and improve the functioning of power generators across government hospitals. He instructed the installation of automated generators in facilities currently lacking such infrastructure. To enhance hospital-level power management, he also called for the temporary appointment of electrical engineers and the provision of essential backup equipment and supplies. The Minister stressed the need for close coordination between district medical officials and Electricity Department personnel to ensure 24x7 power supply to hospitals, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas. He also reviewed preparations for tackling seasonal diseases in the wake of monsoon. He instructed officials of the Telangana Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation (TGMSIDC) to procure adequate stocks of COVID-19 test kits and medicines for diseases like dengue, malaria, and chikungunya. He underscored the importance of sanitation and inter-departmental coordination in preventing outbreaks and ensuring timely availability of medicines in government health facilities.

Telangana health minister flags private medical college stipend issues with NMC Chairman
Telangana Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha met with Chairman of the National Medical Commission (NMC) Dr. B.N. Gangadhar in Hyderabad on Saturday (May 31) and raised concerns over the challenges faced by medical students in private institutions, particularly the non-payment and delay of stipends. During the meeting, the Minister underscored the impact of the rapid increase in the number of private medical colleges in Telangana, stating that it has strained both infrastructure and faculty recruitment. He appealed to the NMC to consider providing temporary exemptions in building norms and to support efforts to fill faculty vacancies. The Minister also highlighted the shortage of postgraduate (PG) medical seats compared to the growing number of MBBS graduates in the State. He urged the Commission to allow an expansion of PG seats to improve training opportunities for graduates and strengthen healthcare delivery. Responding to the concerns, the NMC chairman assured that the Commission would look into the issues raised. According to an official release, the NMC Chairman also held in-depth discussions on the overall functioning of medical colleges and hospitals and agreed on the importance of safeguarding the quality of medical education. The meeting was attended by Health Secretary Christina Z. Chongthu, Vice-Chancellor of Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) Dr. P.V. Nanda Kumar Reddy, and other senior officials from the State health department.
