Lisa Leslie knows what Caitlin Clark is going through. The three-time WNBA MVP and Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame inductee said Wednesday night that a groin injury can linger and be easily aggravated. "I really feel for Caitlin Clark because I had that injury in 2006," Leslie said Wednesday night on CBS Sports Network coverage of the Indiana Fever's loss to the New York Liberty. "I was heavily taped around my thigh, my glute, just to make sure there was enough pressure to hold that groin." Clark has had four injury episodes this season, two with a quad and one with each groin. She missed Wednesday's game and her status for the WNBA All-Star Game in Indianapolis is uncertain. "The hard part is that the groin isn't just an area you can go, 'Oh it hurts right here,'" Leslie said. "You feel it deep and you need a lot of deep treatment, whether it's ice and heat and rest. "(Clark) can't find a lot of rest right now because she's in season." Leslie sees a correlation between Clark's groin injuries and her shooting slump. Clark has made just 27.9% of her 3-pointers this year. "You just learn to manage and play with it, which can also lead to why her numbers are down," Leslie said. "That's going to take away from her lift." And despite treatment and rest, a groin injury can linger, Leslie said.
