RRB Recruitment: Railways To Offer Over 50,000 Jobs In 2025–26, 9,000 Appointments Already Made

Last Updated: RRBs have issued over 9,000 appointment letters in Q1; over 50,000 more appointments planned in 2025–26. The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have issued over 9,000 appointment letters in the first quarter of the financial year and are set to offer jobs to more than 50,000 candidates during 2025–26, the Ministry of Railways said on Wednesday. In a press note, the Ministry shared that, 'Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have since November 2024 conducted Computer Based Tests (CBTs) for more than 1.86 crore candidates for seven different notifications comprising 55,197 vacancies." It further added, 'This will enable RRBs to offer appointments to more than 50,000 candidates in financial year 2025–26. More than 9,000 appointments have already been issued by RRBs in first quarter of this financial year." Highlighting the complexity of conducting such large-scale recruitment examinations, the Ministry explained that organising CBTs for RRBs is a massive undertaking, requiring significant planning and coordination. To make the process more candidate-friendly, RRBs have recently begun allocating examination centres closer to candidates' places of residence. Special consideration is being given to female candidates and those belonging to the Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) category, the Ministry noted. This step, however, requires the enlistment of additional centres and the deployment of more human resources to ensure the examination is conducted in a fair and transparent manner, it added. Providing an update on overall recruitment activity, the Ministry stated that the RRBs have already issued 12 notifications for 1,08,324 vacancies since 2024, in accordance with the annual calendar previously released. Furthermore, more than 50,000 additional appointments are expected in the financial year 2026–27. As part of its efforts to strengthen the integrity of examinations, the Ministry stated, 'E-KYC based Aadhar authentication has been used to authenticate identity of candidates for the first time in such large-scale exams achieving more than 95% success." It further emphasised, 'Jammers are now being deployed 100 % across all exam centres of RRBs to eliminate scope of cheating through electronic devices." view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
