Will give my best for people's safety: Bengaluru's new police chief
Bengaluru: Seemant Kumar Singh, who took charge as Bengaluru police commissioner Thursday midnight, said he and his team will ensure peace in the city. "Our police force is good. I believe in teamwork. I will put our team together and ensure there is peace and calmness in the city. We are capable enough to provide total security to citizens; no one should worry about anything," Singh told TOI. "The police setup is doing excellent work. The focus will be on basic policing, ensuring there is a cordial relationship between the public and police," Singh said. "Policing is a dynamic concept depending on the nature of the population, area and increase in crime. We have to keep working on it... I am hoping from the constable to the police commissioner, all will perform in a way that we can give our best to society," he said. "Traffic is a key factor. I will certainly look into the issue and take necessary measures," Singh added. New Cubbon Park ACP, inspector After taking charge, Singh posted a new assistant commissioner of police to Cubbon Park subdivision and a new inspector to Cubbon Park police station. ACP B Ramachandra, who was in city crime records bureau (CCRB), has been given additional charge of Cubbon Park sub-division. Inspector KS Devendrappa, attached to Central Crime Branch, has been posted to Cubbon Park station. These two officers will hold charge until the govt posts new officers. Bengaluru drug cases drop as cops tweak strategy
According to the City Crime Record Bureau (CCRB) data, police registered 4,555 cases in 2021, 4,027 in 2022, 3,443 in 2023 but just 495 in 2024 under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
