Heads of State movie review: John Cena-Idris Elba-Priyanka Chopra Jonas' action comedy is predictable but entertaining
Heads of State is a fun film which works because of its high entertainment quotient. read more Star cast: John Cena, Idris Elba, Priyanka Chopra, Jack Quaid, Paddy Considine, Stephen Root, and Carla Gugino Director: Ilya Naishuller After impressing the audience with Hardcore Henry and Nobody, filmmaker and musician Ilya Viktorovich Naishuller is now gearing up to take cinegoers on an adrenaline rush with his upcoming action comedy Heads Of State. While the movie's promo looked fun, let's see whether it turns out to be an entertaining affair or not… STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Heads of State starts with a senior MI6 agent, Noel Bisset (Priyanka Chopra Jonas) and his team, along with the CIA, doing a covert operation at Bunol, Spain, during the Tomatino festival to hunt down Viktor Gradov (Paddy Considine), an arms dealer turned extremist. However, Viktor, along with his henchmen, who had set a trap for the officers, hunts them as his tech genius, Arthur Hammond (Stephen Root), infiltrates the echelon, the high-tech political secret system of the USA. Cut to the actor-turned-American President Will Derringer (John Cena) and UK Prime Minister Sam Clarke (Idris Elba), who are not fond of each other, meeting at the Oval Office and taking potshots at one another. Their assistants convince them to travel together to the NATO Summit, as it will make the biggest headlines in global newspapers. However, their aeroplane gets attacked by Viktor's henchmen, and while the plane crashes, the duo manages to survive. As Sam and Will need to reach the summit, they need to find the motive behind their assassination and the conspiracy which can impact the global system. Well, honestly, Head of State reminds me of old-style Bollywood movies when it comes to plot, but scores high on the visual presentation, along with action choreography and crisp editing by Tom Harrison-Read. Ilya has handled a generic plot quite well to make it entertaining with some eye-grabbing highlights and made sure people enjoy the onscreen camaraderie between the lead characters. However, the romantic angle between Idris and PeeCee seems to be forced or rather unnecessary, in the movie. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Talking about the performances, John, Elba, and Priyanka seem to have fun with their parts with their witty dialogues and performing kickass action. Paddy, as Viktor, is decent but lacks the punch as the antagonist. Jack Quaid literally won the heart with his superb comic timing as Agent Comer. On the whole, Heads of State is a fun film which works because of its high entertainment quotient. Rating: 3 (out of 5 stars) Heads of State is releasing on 2nd July

Operation Midnight Hammer: 'Bunker-busters' not used on Iran's Isfahan nuclear site, top US general tells senators; cites target depth
The United States military did not use the "bunker-buster" bombs on Iran's Isfahan nuclear facility during last week's Operation Midnight Hammer, chairman joint chiefs of staff, General Dan Caine, told senators during a classified briefing. US officials believe that Isfahan's underground structures contain nearly 60 per cent of the Islamic Republic's enriched nuclear stockpile, which Tehran would need in order to ever produce nukes. Only Tomahawk missiles were used to strike Isfahan. On the other hand, the B-2 Spirit bombers dropped more than a dozen bunker-busters on the other two targets - Fordow and Natanz. The classified session was held by Caine, defense secretary Pete Hegseth, secretary of state Marco Rubio and John Ratcliffe, director, CIA. During the briefing, Ratcliffe said that the US intelligence community assesses that the majority of Iran's enriched nuclear material is buried at Isfahan and Fordow, according to an official. Following the strikes, a preliminary assessment by the Defense Intelligence Agency the attack did not destroy the core components of Iran's nuclear programme, including its enriched uranium, and likely only set it back by months. The assessment was disputed by members of the Donald Trump administration. President Trump has repeatedly asserted that Iran's nuclear programme was "obliterated."

Inside the 20-year MI6 operation to find Russian spy in its ranks
British intelligence chiefs spent 20 years hunting for a suspected Russian mole inside MI6 but failed to track down a traitor, it has been revealed. An elaborate investigation, called Operation Wedlock, is said to have spanned several continents and lasted until around 2015 before finally being labelled 'inconclusive'. The investigation was led by MI6's sister agency, MI5, in what sources described as an extraordinary case of one UK intelligence agency effectively spying on another. • Hunt for Russian spy in MI6 revealed after 30 years MI6, the Secret Intelligence Service, is the UK spy agency responsible for overseas intelligence, while MI5, the Security Service, is the domestic intelligence agency that handles national security threats. After being tipped off by the CIA about an alleged double agent in the 1990s, MI5 is said to have deployed a team of up to 35 surveillance, planning and desk officers, who travelled across the world in pursuit of the mole. Their hunt for the traitor has been documented in a recently published book, The Spy in the Archive: How One Man Tried to Kill the KGB, by the former BBC security correspondent Gordon Corera. The book says the CIA was concerned that an unknown MI6 officer had been 'turned by Moscow' and was relaying secrets to Russia. Sources with close knowledge of the operation have since disclosed to The Guardian that the UK identified a suspect within the agency and tasked MI5 with surveilling him. • How an oddball smuggled out the KGB's biggest secrets '[We were told] the target was a Russian spy … The US believed he was leaking information to the Russians. He was suspect 1A. The job was taken more seriously than any other [MI5] was involved in. Wedlock eclipsed them all,' one source said. The Wedlock team did not operate from MI5 headquarters at Thames House in Westminster and was instead based in a building in Wandsworth, south London, close to MI6's riverside building in Vauxhall. The team went to great lengths to monitor their man. MI5's technical operations team, known then as A1, is reported to have bugged the MI6 officer's home, covertly breaking in to plant listening and video devices. A live feed then beamed images back to an operations room. One source said they also parked a car outside his house, which was fitted with a camera inside a tissue box on the ledge behind the back seats. Over the years surveillance teams are said to have tracked the suspect's movements abroad, following him to cities across Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Doing so is considered very high-risk move as operating overseas is outside MI5's jurisdiction. When the team was sent into a country with real passports under false names, or somewhere without the knowledge of the local government, the agents were reportedly warned that they were 'on their own' if detained. The operation is understood to have continued, in one form or another, until at least 2015, by which time the suspect had left MI6. However, he was not thought to be working alone, a source said, with two other people, also based in London, believed to be helping him. Wedlock was described as a 'highly unusual operation … the longest in recent memory and probably the most expensive'. Despite their efforts, the MI5 team was ultimately unable to establish whether there was a mole — raising the possibility that an agent may have got away with spying for Russia. 'MI5 never got the conclusive proof it was looking for,' the source said, adding that if it was not him, then it was possible that MI6 'still has a mole to find'.

While the show has been running since 2022, and the latest season was released in 2023, it has recently been added to Netflix for the first time. Since the addition of the anime show, series two has received full marks from Rotten Tomatoes, and follows bullied teen Maddie, who starts to receive messages from a mysterious stranger claiming to be her father. The only problem? Her dad, David, just died… Turns out, David's consciousness has been uploaded to the cloud after an experimental brain scan, meaning he can still connect with the living. And the next twist? He's not the only one (Picture: Netflix) OK, so this one technically isn't on Netflix in the UK (it's available in the US), but you can catch it on BBC iPlayer, so who are the real winners? The Danish drama follows high school student Laura, who must choose between her divorced parents and the boy she is in love with. This might sound pretty dull at first, but there's a reason: the whole of Denmark is facing total evacuation due to rising water levels. The choice she makes sees her running the risk of never seeing some of her loved ones again (Picture: BBC) OK, not all shows are going to be perfect, but they can be nearly perfect so we've thrown in a couple bonus entries deserving of an honourable mention. In Forever's case, 97% on the critics' Tomatometer still warrants a watch. Plus, 88% of viewers (aka the Popcornmeter) recommend the show, too. The rom-com drama is set in Los Angeles in 2018, when two childhood friends reunite. Both are budding athletes who are experiencing pressure from their parents to solely focus on their college athletic scholarships, with their social lives coming second.
