CelcomDigi onboards first 100 SMEs, partners to vendor empowerment initiative
KUALA LUMPUR: CelcomDigi Bhd has onboarded nearly 100 Malaysian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and exclusive sales partners from over 60 companies into the first cohort of its newly-launched Vendor Empowerment and Excellence Programme (VEEP). The first phase of the programme began with a focus on building ESG fundamentals using the Simplified ESG Disclosure Guide (SEDG) for SMEs in supply chains, in collaboration with Capital Markets Malaysia (CMM). The guide provides participating SMEs with practical tools to integrate responsible practices, as well as to measure and disclose their environmental, social and governance (ESG) impact in line with Bursa Malaysia's expectations for ESG-compliant corporate ecosystems. Delivering the closing address on behalf of CelcomDigi chief executive officer Datuk Idham Nawawi, chief corporate affairs officer Joachim Rajaram said the initiative marks a significant milestone in the company's mission to support local businesses. "SMEs form over 97 per cent of Malaysia's business landscape and are projected to deliver 45 per cent of the country's GDP this year, making them a driving force of our economy." "Supporting their growth is a strategic priority for us as part of our ESG commitment to build a sustainable value chain," said Rajaram. "With Malaysian companies making up over 72 per cent of our value chain, we see a clear opportunity to empower Malaysia's business landscape by starting within our own ecosystem," he added. He noted that VEEP is CelcomDigi's long-term commitment to uplift SMEs through structured support and strategic collaboration. "Today's partnership with CMM lays the groundwork for responsible business practices." Malaysia's regulator launches greenhouse gas emission calculator for SMEs
Xinhua 22 Jul 2025, 21:46 GMT+10 KUALA LUMPUR, July 22 (Xinhua) -- Capital Markets Malaysia (CMM), an affiliate of the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC), on Tuesday launched the Simplified ESG Disclosure Guide Greenhouse Gas Emission Calculator for small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The CMM said in a statement that the user-friendly tool is designed to help Malaysian companies measure and report their Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions based on the globally recognized Greenhouse Gas Protocol. To ensure consistency and credibility, the tool utilizes a methodology which follows widely accepted international standards that are also used by the Malaysian government in the Biennial National Communications to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). "The calculator simplifies a complex process, making emissions reporting accessible even to first-time users. Beyond reporting, it also enables companies to pinpoint key emission sources across operations, allowing them to make informed decisions and move towards meaningful climate action," said Mohammad Faiz Azmi, executive chairman of the SC and chairman of CMM. He added that the calculator further complements efforts by the SC to promote consistent and credible sustainability disclosures and supports the adoption of the National Sustainability Reporting Framework by Malaysian companies.

Capital Markets Malaysia launches emissions calculator for SMEs
Securities Commission Malaysia building at Kuala Lumpur KUALA LUMPUR: Capital Markets Malaysia (CMM), an affiliate of the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC), today launched the SEDG Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions calculator to help small and medium enterprises (SMEs) measure and report their emissions. CMM said in a statement that the tool is designed to help Malaysian companies measure and report their scope 1 and scope 2 emissions based on the globally recognised GHG protocol. SC executive chairman Datuk Mohammad Faiz Azmi said accurate emissions measurement was increasingly critical for Malaysian SMEs, particularly those operating in global supply chains, as customers demand greater disclosure. "The SEDG GHG emissions calculator simplifies a complex process, making emissions reporting accessible even to first-time users. "Beyond reporting, it also enables companies to pinpoint key emission sources across operations, allowing them to make informed decisions and move towards meaningful climate action,' he said. He added that the calculator complements the SC's efforts to promote consistent and credible sustainability disclosures and supports the adoption of the National Sustainability Reporting Framework. Meanwhile, CMM general manager Navina Balasingam said the agency conducted a series of user acceptance tests across various supply chain sectors to ensure the tool met SMEs' needs and expectations.
