JD Vance Flips the Bird at Trump Critics During GOP Dinner Party: ‘That Means We're No. 1, Right?'
In an effort to make a joke about anti-Trumpers, Vice President JD Vance decided to flip the bird at attendees during the Ohio Republican dinner party on Tuesday. The moment happened while Vance was delivering a keynote speech, during which he started discussing the challenges that come with being a political figure, as well as the slew of 'pink-haired' critics he claimed have approached and/or confronted him since his time in office. 'I know it's not easy to be a political candidate, trust me. In Washington, D.C. they have this thing where— I think it means 'we're No. 1' in Washington, D.C., but all the pink-haired people throw up this sign,' Vance said. He then lifted his hand to flip the bird to the listening audience. Keeping his middle finger in the air, he continued on, joking that the one finger up must mean naysayers are labeling the Trump administration as No. 1. 'That means we're No. 1, right? CDC nominee Susan Monarez sidesteps questions about disagreements with RFK Jr. in Senate hearing

Her answers appeared to frustrate some senators, including Virginia Democrat Tim Kaine, who said he had no questions about her qualifications. 'I've got questions about your willingness to follow through on your values,' he said. In the two-hour hearing, Monarez was sharply questioned about Kennedy's recent move to fire all 17 members of a crucial committee that evaluates and recommends vaccines, his downplaying of the risks of measles during a nationwide outbreak and staffing cuts to a program that investigates lead poisoning in children. Bill Cassidy, a Louisiana Republican who is chairman of the committee, sought assurances about the scientific integrity of the CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, which was reconstituted by Kennedy to include vaccine skeptics. 'Someone can speak as a critic, but there should be someone who's reviewing the overwhelming evidence of the safety of vaccines,' Cassidy said. Monarez said she strongly supported public health interventions, including immunizations, saying, 'I think vaccines save lives.' 'The ACIP has a very vital role to play,' she added. 'And it must make sure that it is using science and evidence to drive that decision-making.' She vowed to prioritize innovation, 'evidence-based rapid decision-making' and clear communication at the $9.2 billion agency tasked with evaluating vaccines, monitoring diseases and watching for threats to Americans' health. Monarez declined to say whether she had disagreed with any of Kennedy's decisions regarding the agency to date, saying he has 'laid out a very clear vision.' 'I think he has prioritized key public health activities for preventing chronic diseases,' she added. If Monarez is confirmed, it would end a stretch of confusion at the Atlanta-based CDC, where, for months, it wasn't clear who was running the agency. The acting director's role was filled in part by Matthew Buzzelli, the CDC's chief of staff who is a lawyer and political appointee with no medical experience. Monarez holds doctorate in microbiology and immunology from the University of Wisconsin, and her postdoctoral training was in microbiology and immunology at Stanford University. At CDC headquarters in Atlanta, employees have said Monarez was rarely heard from between late January and late March, when Trump nominated her. Donald Trump is known for doing things differently. On Tuesday (June 24), he became the first US president to swear on 'live' TV when he used the F-word to express his frustration with Iran and Israel for violating the ceasefire just hours after it came into effect. But what if you are the president of the United States of America? Well, Donald Trump on Tuesday showed he's no different from us when he too used the swear word to express his frustration that Israel and Iran appeared to be violating the ceasefire that he just celebrated going into effect. But, despite the hoopla over Trump swearing on live camera, it is not unheard of. There have been many instances of the US commander-in-chief showcasing their inner potty mouth. But before Trump could even celebrate the breakthrough, Israel and Iran appeared to have violated it. Just two-and-a-half hours after the ceasefire came into effect, Tel Aviv accused Tehran of launching missiles at the Jewish nation. Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said he had directed Israel's armed forces to 'respond forcefully' to what he called Iran's 'violation of the ceasefire'. And when asked to respond to the two warring nations' actions, Trump appeared agitated. 'There was one rocket that I guess was fired overboard after the time limit and now Israel is going out. These guys [have] got to calm down,' he said, speaking to reporters before heading to the Nato summit in The Hague. The US president added that he didn't like 'plenty of things' he saw. 'I didn't like the fact that Israel unloaded right after we made the deal,' he said, referring to the ceasefire he announced earlier. 'They didn't have to unload.' But it isn't the first time that an American president has been caught swearing. In 2018, Trump referred to Haiti and African nations as 's**thole countries', asking why the US would accept more immigrants from there rather than places like Norway. Unsurprisingly, his remarks spurred anger; Haiti's government said Trump's comments shows a 'racist view of the Haitian community', while El Salvador sent a formal letter of protest to the US saying the president had 'implicitly' accepted the use of 'harsh terms detrimental to the dignity of El Salvador and other countries'. In March 2010, then Vice President Joe Biden was caught out by an amplified microphone, telling his boss, Barack Obama, that passing the Affordable Care Act was a 'big f***ing deal'. He, unknowingly, called the journalist a 'major-league a**hole.' Bush later joked about the incident, referring to Clymer as a 'major-league ass…et' in a taped message played at a press corps dinner. He once called General Douglas MacArthur a 'dumb son of a b**ch' and Richard Nixon a 'shifty-eyed god***ed liar.' In most of these cases, the US leader has apologised for abusing. But, Russell Riley, a presidential historian at the Miller Center at the University of Virginia, told NPR that it is highly unlikely that Trump would show any remorse for his use of the swear word. Donald Trump wasn't very happy about Israel and Iran violating their ceasefire agreement. After Trump claimed both sides reached an agreement, both Israel and Iran continued to fire at each other during the phased ceasefire. "They [Iran] violated it [the ceasefire,] but Israel violated it too. Israel, as soon as we made the deal, they came out and they dropped a load of bombs, the likes of which I've never seen before. The biggest load that we've seen, I'm not happy with Israel, you know, when I say, 'OK, now you have 12 hours, you don't go out in the first hour' and just drop everything you have on them, so I'm not happy with them," he said. "I'm not happy with Iran either, but I'm really unhappy if Israel's going out this morning because of one rocket that didn't land that was shot, perhaps by mistake that didn't land. I'm not happy about that." "You know, we basically have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don't know what the fuck they're doing. Do you understand that?" Some people are surprised a sitting President used this *colorful* language. "I remember when a president using the f bomb would have been like the most shocking thing in the world but somehow it's now the least crazy thing about today," one person commented. Other people have it on replay. And then a bunch of people are surprised about the C-SPAN of it all. "Trump dropping an f-bomb on CSPAN is one of those things that shouldn't feel surprising but somehow did," another person commeneted. This person called it "CSPAN after dark." And this person joked, "This is probably going to be the most viral post @cspan history... Until something else chaotic upstages this in like a month."
