Show me a Sydneysider and I'll show you a person who isn't shy about singing the praises of our stunning Harbour city. Top tier dining – we got it. Beautiful beaches – we got 'em. World renowned universities – tick, tick, tick. According to a worldwide university ranking from the Centre for World University Rankings (CWUR) we've now got the stats to back up our boastful ways with UNSW landing a spot on the list. UNSW was also the highest-ranking NSW uni on the prestigious QS World University Rankings, which were released last month. Coming in at number 52 on the CWUR list, UNSW claimed victory as Australia's top university – beating the likes of University of Melbourne, Australian National University, University of Sydney and University of Queensland. More than 21,000 universities were ranked to make a top 2,000 list, which makes UNSW's top 100 place a rather commendable achievement when stacked up against some of the most renowned tertiary facilities in the world. The quantitative academic ranking assessed each university by taking a look at key areas including the quality of education, alumni employment, quality of faculty and research performance. UNSW received an overall score of 84.6, in large part thanks to the university's solar cell technology research, which helped boost their ranking from 99 in 2024. Helwan University Listed Among World's Top Universities in 2025 CWUR Ranking

By Ahmad El-Assasy As part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening its standing in prestigious international rankings, and through continuous efforts to enhance the quality of education and scientific research, Helwan University has been listed among the world's top universities in the 2025 Center for World University Rankings (CWUR). This classification selects the top 2,000 universities out of 21,462 institutions worldwide. The CWUR ranking is based on seven key indicators grouped into four main areas: Quality of Education (25%) Employability of Graduates (25%) Quality of Faculty Staff (10%) Total Published Research (10%) Publications in Top-Tier Journals (10%) Research Influence (10%) Citations (10%) Helwan University was ranked among 21 Egyptian universities included in the classification, reflecting its continuous efforts to develop academic and research performance and serve the community. This progress is made under the leadership of Prof. Dr. El-Sayed Kandil, President of Helwan University, and through the university's support for high-quality research and strengthening the competitiveness of its graduates in both local and international job markets. Dr. El-Sayed Kandil emphasized, 'Helwan University's inclusion in the global CWUR ranking is a culmination of the university's efforts to improve international rankings—one of the key pillars of our strategic plan that focuses on enhancing education quality, scientific research, and supporting academic staff. The university continuously strives to elevate its global position by promoting publication in prestigious journals and encouraging faculty members and researchers to innovate and excel, which contributes to achieving the national vision for advancing higher education and scientific research.' Prof. Dr. Emad Abou El-Dahab, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, added that the university's progress in international rankings reflects the significant efforts made in supporting the academic system, encouraging innovation, and fostering high-quality scientific output, thus increasing the impact of education and research locally and globally. The latest Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) has revealed the best universities in the world for the year 2025. According to BusinessTech, 12 South African universities have taken spots on the 2025 list, with the University of Cape Town, University of the Witwatersrand, and Stellenbosch University all making it to the top 500. The University of Cape Town even placed in the top 300 in the world. The best universities in South Africa The annual list from CWUR is an academic ranking of global universities that assesses the quality of education, employability, quality of faculty, and research without relying on surveys and university data submissions. According to these rankings, the University of Cape Town is not only the best institution in South Africa, but in all of Africa too. UCT ranks first in South Africa, with a score of 77.4 and a global ranking of 275. Wits came second, with a score of 77.1 and a global ranking of 292. Wits also ranked as the second-best institution in all of Africa. Rounding out the top three was Stellenbosch University, scoring 74.9 and ranking 458 in the world. Five Moroccan universities have been featured in the top 2000 universities globally, according to the latest ranking by the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR). The ranking evaluates institutions worldwide based on the quality of education, employability, faculty, and research. Leading the Moroccan institutions is Mohammed V University in Rabat, ranked 992nd globally, followed by Cadi Ayyad University in Marrakech (1,128th), Hassan II University of Casablanca (1,154th), Mohammed First University in Oujda (1,357th), and Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University in Fez (1,901st). CWUR assessed 21,462 institutions, with the top-performing ones making the Global 2000 list. The ranking was dominated by American and British universities, with Harvard University taking the top spot, followed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University, the University of Cambridge, and the University of Oxford.

Rabat – The Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) has placed Mohammed V University in Rabat among the top 5 percent of universities worldwide, securing the top national position for the sixth consecutive year. According to the CWUR's latest 'Top 2000 Universities in the World' ranking, only 2,000 out of 21,462 global higher education institutions were included in this elite list—among them five Moroccan universities. Alongside Mohammed V University in Rabat, the four others are Cadi Ayyad University in Marrakech, Hassan II University of Casablanca, Mohammed I University in Oujda, and Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University in Fez– showcasing Morocco's growing prominence in international higher education. Mohammed V University achieved notable rankings both on a regional and international level: 13th among the top 66 universities in the Arab world, 15th among the top 63 universities in Africa, and 992nd globally—placing it within the top 4.7 percent worldwide. In research quality, the university ranked 947th globally, underscoring the strength and impact of its scientific contributions. These international accolades reinforce Mohammed V University's strategic standing in Rabat and its unwavering commitment to academic excellence, cutting-edge research, and openness to both national and global communities. This accomplishment also reflects the university's continuous progress, climbing 15 places compared to last year's ranking. CWUR's ranking methodology is based on four key indicators: quality of scientific research (40%), quality of academic training provided to students (25%), professional success of graduates holding leadership roles in major global companies (25%), and the academic reputation of faculty recognized with prestigious scientific awards (10%). The ranking is based on data from the international scientific database 'Web of Science,' which monitors publications, citations, and journal quality over the past ten years. The top three positions this year were claimed by American institutions Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Stanford University, followed by England's University of Cambridge and University of Oxford in fourth and fifth place, respectively.
