Here's The Cheapest Cadillac You Can Buy In 2025

The Cadillac CT4 isn't the loudest car in the showroom. It's not electric, doesn't have 600 horsepower, and won't make Instagram influencers foam at the mouth. But it is — and this is important — the cheapest new Cadillac you can buy in 2025. Starting at $35,600 for the 2026 model, it's not just the gateway to the Cadillac range, it's a reminder that luxury can still come in sedan form. Especially one that doesn't cost the GDP of a small island. The CT4 sits just below the XT4 SUV, which starts at $40,795 for the 2025 model. Despite the price, the CT4 doesn't feel like a rental spec. Not completely, anyway. 0:02 / 0:09 2025 Ford Explorer vs 2025 Chevrolet Traverse: Which is America's best family hauler? Watch More Design: Baby CTS With A Bit Of Swagger The CT4 is of course the cheapest Cadillac model and has a compact stance and sharp lines that mimic the bigger CT5. It's got that familiar Cadillac look — angular LED headlights, a slim grille, and the sort of rear-end design that looks best disappearing rapidly in someone else's rearview mirror. Standard 17-inch alloys don't scream opulence, but you can bump those to 18s or 19s, and the Premium Luxury and Sport trims start to look properly upscale. The top-spec CT4-V even gets quad pipes and more aggressive bodywork, but that's heading toward $47k territory — and not what we're here to talk about. Engine And Performance: Rear-Wheel Drive Lives On Source: Cadillac Base CT4s come with a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four, sending 237 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels via an 8-speed automatic. Zero to 60 mph happens in a perfectly respectable 6.2 seconds — not neck-snapping, but enough to remind you that you didn't buy a beige Camry. There's optional all-wheel drive, but rear-wheel drive is standard — and that matters. It's what gives the CT4 its edge in the corners, especially when stacked up against front-driven rivals like the Audi A3 or Mercedes CLA. Fancy a bit more poke? The 2.7-liter turbo in the Premium Luxury trim delivers 310 hp and 350 lb-ft, and turns the CT4 into a proper back-road bruiser. Unfortunately, this derivative costs closer to $45k. Still, even in base spec, the chassis is surprisingly composed, with sharp steering and decent body control — something Cadillac's been getting right since the ATS. Trim Levels: Choose Your Fighter Source: Cadillac The CT4 is available in three trims: Luxury : The entry point, with cloth/leatherette upholstery, 17-inch wheels, and basic driver aids. : The entry point, with cloth/leatherette upholstery, 17-inch wheels, and basic driver aids. Running Costs And Ownership Source: Cadillac Fuel economy is merely average and not close to the top of the class. The 2.0-liter manages up to 22/32/26 mpg city/highway/combined with RWD, or 21/31/25 mpg with AWD. By comparison, BMW's 2 Series Gran Coupe can hit 30 mpg combined with AWD. Insurance isn't horrendous either, sitting below the average for a luxury sedan in the U.S., and depreciation isn't as catastrophic as you'd think. Cadillac's reputation may not have the badge cachet of BMW or Mercedes, but it's improving, especially with Gen Z and younger buyers. Interior: A Few Rough Edges, But Logical Controls Source: Cadillac The CT4's interior walks the line between premium and practical — think business class on a regional flight. You get a clean, symmetrical dashboard with tactile switches and proper climate knobs, rather than the dreaded touch sliders found in rivals. An 8-inch touchscreen is standard, running wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the driver gets a clear digital display without any gimmicks. For a cheap Cadillac, it still feels thoughtfully designed. In base trim, the cabin has several soft-touch plastics and leatherette, although there are also some cheaper materials in evidence. Step up to Premium Luxury or Sport and you'll find real leather, ambient lighting, and an optional Bose 14-speaker audio system that does a decent job masking any remaining road noise. There's decent space for front passengers and just enough rear legroom for short hops — though anyone over six foot will want to call shotgun. It's not lavish, but it is logical — and when compared to other affordable Cadillac models in years past, it's arguably more refined. Lease Deals And Real-World Price Source: Cadillac Plenty of U.S. dealers are offering lease deals from $479/month with around $2,500 down for base CT4s. Stretching to a Premium Luxury might cost $530–560/month depending on location and time of year. For those looking to finance, Cadillac is running low APR offers across most of its range. This all puts the CT4 well ahead of the XT4, which starts at $40,795 and often leases around $667/month. And unlike the XT4, which feels like it was made by committee, the CT4 still feels like a car made by people who care about how it drives. How It Compares Against rivals like the Audi A3, Mercedes CLA, and BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe, the CT4 offers more space, more power in higher trims, and a proper rear-drive layout. It doesn't quite match them for cabin quality or badge snobbery, but it undercuts them on price and, crucially, avoids feeling like a punishment car. The Genesis G70 is a closer rival in feel and layout, and may offer more for the money in higher specs. But for entry-level luxury under $35k, the CT4 is holding its ground. Final Verdict The Cadillac CT4 is more than just the cheapest Cadillac. It's a rare case of an entry-level luxury car that still feels fun, usable, and — whisper it — worth the money. While the rest of the segment slowly dies off or turns into bland electric crossovers, the CT4 sticks to its guns: internal combustion and rear-wheel drive. If this is your first foray into luxury cars — or your first proper car after something soul-sapping like a Corolla — the CT4 won't disappoint. It's Cadillac's baby, yes, but it doesn't suck on arrival. About the Author Karl Furlong View Profile

Best budget luxury cars for 2025: Affordable elegance under $45K
For those searching for a luxury badge on a budget, the cheapest luxury cars remain an enticing group — less expensive than SUVs yet just as nice as entry-level SUVs from major luxury brands, they're the perfect entry point for those looking for fancier wheels. Many renowned brands offer these entry-level luxury sedans for much less than the average new car sells for, and some of these inexpensive luxury-branded models offer genuine luxury. Some are just a cash-in relying on the badge, but there are several that offer real luxury comfort, technology and performance for affordable prices. These are the ten most affordable luxury cars you can buy in 2025: 1. Acura Integra - $34,195 The least expensive luxury car by a solid margin is the 2025 Acura Integra, and it manages that while still being solidly built and plenty comfortable — if not as luxurious as it could be, thanks in part to its Honda Civic bones. Is a gussied-up Civic good enough to cross-shop against an entry-level Audi or BMW? By our evaluation and testing, it's more than that, and absolutely. The Integra's 200-hp base engine does have lower performance than the cars above it on this list, but it's much more practical thanks to its large hatchback trunk area. Overall comfort isn't lacking, its fuel economy is great, and its driving dynamics are fun. Read our experts' full Acura Integra review 2. Cadillac CT4 Luxury Sedan - $36,490 There are very few fancy cars available for under $40,000, and fewer that are worth it. The 2025 Cadillac CT4 straddles that line. Handling and chassis dynamics are excellent, even in the base car without any of the performance enhancements available further up the range. Almost anywhere in the range, the Cadillac is noticeably cheaper than its rivals; the CT4 is the cheapest RWD luxury car you can get, in fact. But the back seat and truck are cramped, and the base engine doesn't stir the soul like its competitors do. Read our experts' full Cadillac CT4 review 3. Audi A3 40 Premium Sedan - $39,495 While expensive for a subcompact car, the 2025 Audi A3 is the third-cheapest luxury car currently available in the U.S. The cabin remains tight, and it isn't as well isolated as larger and more expensive Audis' interiors, so it's relatively loud on the freeway. Also, the trunk is small, and the regular A3 isn't particularly fun to drive — that's what the pricier S3 performance model is for. Read our experts' full Audi A3 review Finding the car for you: The best compact pickup trucks you can buy in 2025 4. BMW 228i Gran Coupe - $40,775 As the least expensive car in the BMW lineup, the 2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe has some genuinely impressive upsides, including a segment-busting amount of interior space and a pair of good powertrain options (the more affordable of which is the 228i's turbo four), though its potentially harsh ride does not help its luxury car credentials. We'll have to see for ourselves if the 2025 refresh addresses that. Overall, the rest of BMW's lineup makes the Gran Coupe somewhat redundant, as those going for fun will opt for the two-door 2 Series Coupe, and those seeking practicality will likely just get an X1 SUV for roughly the same price. Read our experts' full BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe review 5. Lexus IS300 Sedan - $41,360 The 2025 Lexus IS still looks good, even though it's getting on in years. The entry-level IS300 model's turbocharged four-cylinder engine is fine, but the up-level IS350's 311-hp V-6 is more interesting (and the IS500's V-8 even more so). Of course, those IS models cost more money. All IS models have cramped back seats and a general lack of refinement when compared to the competition, which, again, largely comes down to this sedan's age. It also still uses Lexus's maligned touchpad-operated infotainment system, and not the newer, crisper touchscreen setup found in newer Lexus models. Read our experts' full Lexus IS review 6. BMW 230i Coupe - $40,375 Confusingly, there are technically two wholly different BMWs under the 2 Series banner. As it happens, the very slightly more expensive model with two doors is simply called the Coupe, and it's not just one of the least expensive BMWs, but the lightest and smallest sportiest coupe in the company's lineup. The base 2 Series Coupe has nice front-engine, rear-drive dynamics and a good powertrain, with our main complaint being a lack of standard driver assist features like adaptive cruise. For a car with two more doors and less sporting intentions, you can spend a few hundred dollars less and get the four-door Gran Coupe, which is a front-wheel-drive vehicle that shares a platform with the BMW X1 and the Mini Cooper Countryman. Read our experts' full BMW 2 Series Coupe review In case you missed it: See the 10 dumbest cars of all time 7. Lexus ES350 - $43,215 The Lexus ES is a surprise entrant on this list, and a must-see if you're hoping for a luxury sedan that's both attainable and much, much larger than anything else at this price point. Unlike virtually every other luxury car on this list, which fall into the entry-level subcompact and compact size classes, the ES is a large car, a sort of plus-size midsize sedan. At its most affordable, the ES comes with a smooth and powerful V-6 engine (in ES350 guise) — but a much more efficient hybrid (ES300h) is available for about a thousand bucks more. The ES350 is a true luxury machine, with a quiet cabin, cosseting ride, high-class materials throughout, and the scale one expects from an executive sedan. Soon, the ES is being replaced by a new-generation model that's only available as a hybrid ES350h or an all-electric ES350e or ES500e for 2026, making this 2025 ES350 your last chance for a six-cylinder ES. Read our experts' full Lexus ES review 8. Genesis G70 2.5T RWD Standard - $43,850 Beautiful design and dynamic poise make the 2025 Genesis G70 an easy recommendation for those unattached to a European luxury badge. More exciting to drive and look at than most of its competition, the G70's negatives are related more to practicality than passion. The trunk doesn't offer much space, and the gas mileage (21/29 mpg city/highway for the base four-cylinder model) is middling at best. But for those more interested in the ways a luxury car can excite, the powerful 300-hp turbocharged I-4 will do the trick. Read our experts' full Genesis G70 review 9. Volvo S60 - $43,795 Meet the only Swede on this list, Volvo's handsome S60 sedan. This four-door competes in the compact luxury sedan segment against the likes of the Lexus IS above, BMW's 3 Series and others. That makes it more usefully sized than some of the smaller subcompacts on this list, though it's not as spacious as Lexus's big ES350. Every S60 comes with Volvo's aura of safety, as well as a comprehensive list of actual safety equipment, plus understated, almost elegant styling inside and out. The entry-level S60 gets a turbocharged four-cylinder engine with mild hybridization. Read our experts' full Volvo S60 review 10. Tesla Model 3 Long Range RWD - $44,130 We recently found that getting the maximum everything variant of an EV is by no means a necessity, including for the 2025 Tesla Model 3. This refreshed Highland model gets better driving dynamics and plenty of targeted improvements, though range and performance are similar to their already good original numbers. The optional (and expensive) Full Self-Driving feature remains untrustworthy, the lack of an instrument cluster is still a bad idea, and Tesla continues to overestimate the range; we managed only 211 miles on a charge when cruising at 70 mph in the entry-level single-motor, Long Range Model 3. Charging speed is quite reasonable, with a Supercharger able to replenish 118 miles of range in 15 minutes or 184 miles in 30 minutes. If you can look past the brand's current woes, given its CEO's polarizing turn in government, the Model 3 remains a premium long-range EV sold at mainstream prices and a thorn in the sides of de-facto competitors such as Hyundai's Ioniq 6. Cadillac Blackwings Help U.S. Secret Service Learn How to Drive Stick
General Motors donated 10 new cars to the United States Secret Service training facility. The new fleet includes two , two , an , two , a , a with a police package, and a . Of the Cadillac sedans, two are equipped with manual transmissions to help agents hone their three-pedal driving skills. Training for United States Secret Service agents just got a lot more fun. Earlier this week, General Motors dropped off a shipment of 10 new cars to the Secret Service's James J. Rowley Training Center (RTC) in Laurel, Maryland. The video above features some overly dramatic music and mind-bending camera angles, but it also details why the agency wants a diverse testing fleet. The fleet of 10 consists of two Cadillac CT4 sedans, two CT5 sedans, an Escalade, two Chevy Corvettes (including a hybrid all-wheel-drive E-Ray), a Colorado ZR2, a Tahoe with a police package, and a Suburban. According to RTC driving instructor Mark Armstrong, two of the Caddy sedans are equipped with manual transmissions, which means both are the range-topping Blackwing models. The CT4-V Blackwing features a 472-hp twin-turbo V-6, while the mightier CT5-V Blackwing packs a 668-hp supercharged V-8. "Not everyone is able to operate a manual shift," Armstrong said. "Having that platform here will enable us to give instruction on how to drive manual vehicles for overseas trips." The other bonus is the different types of cars included in the fleet. Constantine Gerukos, another instructor at the facility, pointed out that advanced driving is a perishable skill, like a muscle that needs to be worked out, so having a variety of cars can keep trainees and instructors alike fresh. What's not clear is if training agents on manual transmission cars is a new focus awarded by having these Blackwing models in the fleet or if three-pedal driving is a long-standing prerequisite for Secret Service trainees. Car and Driver reached out to the Department of Homeland Security to inquire about the training, and we'll update this story if we hear back. Morgan City man arrested in connection with New Orleans Mardi Gras ‘street takeover'
MORGAN CITY, La. () — A Morgan City man was arrested and charged in connection with what police are calling a 'street takeover' on Mardi Gras in New Orleans, authorities said. Kane Smith, 26, of Morgan City, is one of four suspects arrested by State Police. Smith was booked into the Orleans Parish Prison and charged with aggravated flight from an officer, three counts of aggravated obstruction of a highway, three counts of reckless driving, one count of obstruction of justice and other traffic-related offenses. Louisiana State Police – Troop NOLA was alerted at approximately 10:30 p.m. March 4 to a public safety concern involving vehicles and pedestrians obstructing roadways, commonly referred to as 'street takeovers.' This particular incident occurred in the area of Chef Menteur Highway and Press Drive in New Orleans. Officials said these well-coordinated events are often linked to other criminal activity throughout the city. State Troopers responded to assist the New Orleans Police Department and conducted three separate traffic stops involving a Cadillac CT4, an Infiniti Q50 and a Chrysler 300 — all participating in the takeover. The traffic stops escalated into pursuits across New Orleans, with drivers reaching speeds exceeding 130 mph, authorities said. Close Thanks for signing up! Watch for us in your inbox. Subscribe Now Troopers identified the driver of the Chrysler 300 as Smith. Troopers said footage from within Smith's vehicle captured the Mardi Gras pursuit and was later posted on social media. Troopers executed a search warrant March 14 at Smith's residence in Morgan City, where they allegedly found two stolen vehicle engines — one installed in the Chrysler 300 used in the street takeover and the other in a separate Chrysler 300 at the residence — as well as illegal narcotics. Both vehicles were seized, officials said. Troopers arrested Brody Gautreaux, 26, of Lockport, the alleged driver of the Cadillac CT4, and seized the vehicle as part of the investigation. Gautreaux was booked into the Orleans Parish Prison and charged with aggravated flight from an officer, aggravated obstruction of a highway, reckless driving and other traffic-related offenses. How Mardi Gras is celebrated across Louisiana Deanta Belvin, 32, of Raceland, the alleged driver of the Infiniti Q50, was booked into the Orleans Parish Prison on charges of aggravated flight from an officer, resisting an officer, hit-and-run driving, negligent injuring and other traffic-related offenses. Troopers obtained an arrest warrant, and Nasher was taken into custody March 12 in Baton Rouge. His vehicle was also seized as part of the investigation and he was charged with aggravated obstruction of a highway and reckless driving.
