2025 MLB All-Star Game Odds: 'It Really Is A Coin Flip'
Annually, this week is one of the slowest on the calendar in sports. Thankfully, sports betting helps make up for that, in this case on Tuesday night's MLB All-Star Game odds. And in a game rated a toss-up, Caesars Sports is still waiting to see where the wiseguys land. "There's no real sharp action on either side. As of right now, we need the American League but just slightly," Caesars head of baseball trading Eric Biggio said Monday afternoon. Biggio helps break down MLB All-Star Game odds and action for Tuesday's 8 p.m. ET start on FOX. Two-Way Play Over the past 11 All-Star Games, the American League is a dominant 10-1 vs. the National League. The lone NL victory: a 3-2 win in the 2023 Midsummer Classic. The AL immediately bounced back last year with a 5-3 victory. But Biggio still rates this year's matchup a pick 'em, with both teams -110 in MLB All-Star Game odds. That means it takes a $110 bet on either side to win $100 (total payout $210). "In All-Star Games now, it really is a coin flip," Biggio said. "There's been a stretch of American League dominance. But the consensus now is that the National League is a little better. "Still, the matchup seems to be pretty even this year." The bulk of action will come in on Tuesday afternoon or evening, ahead of the first pitch at Truist Park in Atlanta. That said, Caesars has seen notable wagering in alternate markets. "There's been some sharp money coming in on the first three innings' Under. We opened at 2.5 (Under -140) and are now at 2.5 (Under -170)," Biggio said. So the smart bettors are banking on each team's pitching staffs getting off to a strong start. MVP Market MLB All-Star Game MVP odds are always popular, and bettors were quick to jump on board at Caesars Sports. "We opened the MVP market on Sunday, and that's been pretty busy. Cal Raleigh is our biggest liability, at 12/1," Biggio said of the Seattle Mariners catcher. A Raleigh MVP would represent a nice payout. At +1200, a $100 bet would profit $1,200 (total payout $1,300). But a few players are above Raleigh on the MVP oddsboard. The Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani is the +550 favorite, followed by Yankees star Aaron Judge at +650. Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. and Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong are both +1000. Rookie pitcher Jacob Misiorowski was a late addition to the NL roster, despite having just five starts since getting called up to the Milwaukee Brewers on June 10. But Misiorowski is 4-1 with a 2.81 ERA in those five outings. "One of the more polarizing storylines is Misiorowski getting named a late replacement," Biggio said. "We've seen some MVP tickets on him at +12000 (120/1). It'll be interesting to see if he gets to pitch and if he has success." Those flier MVP tickets would certainly pay out well. In the unlikely event of the rookie starter winning the MVP award, a $100 bet would profit $12,000. 2025 Gold Cup, Odds: For Bookmakers, 'USA-Mexico Final Is Preferred'
When Gold Cup futures odds first went up, the idea of a USA vs. Mexico final was quite appealing to bookmakers. With the U.S. men's national team and El Tri on opposite sides of the bracket, that contest stood a good chance of happening. Then the U.S. nearly blew up the potential marquee matchup, narrowly surviving a penalty-kick shootout Sunday night vs. Costa Rica. But Team USA and Mexico are still on track, as both sides head to Wednesday's semifinals. And the bookmakers are grateful. "A USA-Mexico Final would be great for soccer fans, and we'd expect to see lots of interest, should it happen," said Mark Bickerdike, head of soccer trading for Caesars Sports. "Five out of the top six highest-handle events in the tournament so far involve either USA or Mexico. "So we'd expect a USA-Mexico final to be huge." Ahead of the semifinals on FS1, Bickerdike helps dive into Gold Cup betting odds and action. Perfect Result The U.S. and Costa Rica were tied 2-2 after regulation. This year, the Gold Cup instituted a new rule: For a knockout match prior to the final, a draw won't go to overtime, but rather directly to penalty kicks. So Team USA and Cosa Rica engaged in a riveting session of penalties, with the U.S. winning 4-3 to advance. In three-way betting — wagering on which team wins in regulation, or if regulation time ends in a draw — that was the perfect result for Caesars Sports. The USMNT was hugely popular in three-way betting. Caesars was hoping to thread the needle of the USA advancing, but not in regulation time. And that's what happened. "Draws are always a book-friendly result. This game was certainly no different, as 85% of handle on the 90-minute market was for USA, with only 3.5% coming for the draw," Bickerdike said. "Overall, the match was a very good result for the book and turned out to be the most profitable match of the tournament so far. "The USA inching toward a marquee matchup [with Mexico] was certainly a result we were looking forward to seeing." Semifinal Showdowns To get that USA-Mexico matchup, though, there's still the matter of Wednesday's semifinals. The U.S. meets Guatemala at 7 p.m. ET in St. Louis, followed by Mexico vs. Honduras at 10 p.m. ET in Santa Clara, Calif. The U.S. is a healthy -360 favorite in three-way betting, with Guatemala a +900 underdog and draw +425. "Early action in the 90-minute market is fairly well split. Sixty-eight percent of money has been for USA to get the job done in 90 minutes," Bickerdike said. "However, interestingly, 40% of wagers have been for Guatemala to win at +900, making them the best potential result for bettors." Indeed, there's some appeal to wagering $100 to win $900 by betting on the big underdog. In the second semifinal, Honduras is an even bigger 'dog at +1000, with Mexico -320 and draw +360. "Similar to the USA-Guatemala game, the big-priced outsider Honduras is currently appealing to our customers for straight bets, with 51% of wagers going the way of the Hondurans," Bickerdike said. "However, there is plenty of time for this to change as we get nearer to kickoff, where we expect to see a flurry of interest for Mexico." Looking Ahead As noted above, Bickerdike and the Caesars risk room want to see the Gold Cup's two most popular teams square off in Sunday night's final in Houston. "Currently, Mexico is the only losing selection remaining in the [championship futures] book," Bickerdike said. "However, given customers are favoring Honduras in the semifinal, a USA-Mexico final is preferred." Furthermore, Caesars would love to see a USA-Mexico match settled on penalty kicks. For that to happen in the final, though, the match would first have to get through a 30-minute overtime. "The U.S. ultimately getting the job done, preferably on penalties, would be the most favorable for the book." 2025 Indy 500 odds: Rookie Robert Shwartzman looks to complete 'miracle' run
A previously unknown rookie driver, and an unexpectedly fantastic qualifying run. Put those two together, and you've got quite a shakeup in Indianapolis 500 odds. That'll be the case on Sunday, with Robert Shwartzman making the leap from massive long shot to No. 4 in odds to win the Indianapolis 500. "We do have a few interesting drivers, starting with the rookie Robert Shwartzman," Caesars Sports motorsports trader Ryan Yando said. Also interesting: For the first time ever, the Indy 500 airs on FOX, with the green flag set to drop at 12:45 p.m. ET Sunday. Yando and DraftKings Sportsbook's Johnny Avello help drive us through a few interesting aspects of Indianapolis 500 odds. Quantum Leap Back in December, when Indy 500 odds first hit the board at Caesars Sports, Shwartzman was a complete afterthought. He opened at +75000, or in more digestible terms, 750/1. What that meant: If you'd put a $100 bet on Shwartzman, and he went on to win Sunday's race, then you'd collect a whopping $75,000. Suffice it to say, that's no longer the case. "He pulled off the miracle in qualifying. He is now down to +750," Yando said. Now, your $100 bet on Shwartzman would profit just $750 (total payout $850). That's a nice little return, but a drop in the milk bucket compared to what could've been had a few months ago or even before qualifying on May 17 and May 18. "The big question now is if he can he hold off the veterans Àlex Palou, Pato O'Ward and Scott Dixon," Yando said. O'Ward and Palou are +500 co-favorites in Caesars' Indy 500 odds. O'Ward qualified third and will start on the outside of Row 1 in the 33-car field. Palou qualified sixth and is on the outside of Row 2. Dixon, the +650 third choice, qualified between those two in fourth, so he'll start from the inside of Row 2. Triple Your Pleasure DraftKings Sportsbook is teaming up with FOX Sports on another interesting way to bet on Indianapolis 500 odds. Borrowing from horse racing, DraftKings is offering a first-of-its-kind trifecta box. A trifecta box is a wager on the top three finishers, regardless of order. In this instance, DK has 20 trifecta combinations to choose from. And the payouts are intriguing, if you're fortunate enough to hit. For example, a trifecta box of the top three drivers on the oddsboard — O'Ward/Palou/Dixon — is +4000. So a $100 bet would profit $4,000 (total payout $4,100) if those three drivers, in any order, finish 1-2-3 in the race. "We're constantly exploring innovative ways to elevate the fan experience around major sporting events," said Johnny Avello, director of sportsbook operations for DraftKings. "Working alongside Fox Sports for a marquee event like the Indy 500 allows us to deliver a dynamic new betting offering that will drive excitement for both longtime and [new] motorsports fans." Penalty on the Play Josef Newgarden is the master of the Brickyard of late, winning the last two Indy 500s and looking for a three-peat this year. However, that task was made more difficult Monday, when INDYCAR penalized Newgarden — along with teammate and 2018 Indy 500 winner Will Power — for an illegal part modification. Newgarden had qualified 11th and Power 12th. But the penalties sent both drivers to the back of the field, which obviously impacted Indianapolis 500 odds, as well. "Newgarden was one of the favorites last week before his penalty from INDYCAR. We pushed him out to +1200, with him starting in the back," Yando said. "People are still interested, but it will be tough for him, as it's never been [won] starting in the back. "If anyone can do it, however, it would be Josef." In fact, Newgarden's odds have slightly improved over the course of the past four days, as he's now the +1000 sixth choice. Double Play Once again, a driver will attempt to complete the Indy 500 and Coca-Cola 600 on Sunday. Kyle Larson is giving it a go for the second straight year. Larson finished 18th in the 2024 Indianapolis 500, then hopped on a jet to get to Charlotte Motor Speedway for the Coca-Cola 600. Justin Allgaier started in Larson's No. 5 car, with a plan to have Larson jump in the driver's seat once he arrived. But foul weather shortened the race, and Larson never got behind the wheel. As for Sunday's first race, Yando said Larson opened among the favorites in Indy 500 odds, but interest has been light. "I thought we would see more action on him in the 500. He opened around +800 and is now +1800," Yando said. However, Larson is the +550 favorite to win the Coca-Cola 600, which starts at 6 p.m. ET. Larson already has three Cup Series wins this season and is atop the points standings. DraftKings Sportsbook is offering what it terms the Kyle Larson Special: +13000 odds (130/1) that Larson wins both races. If you feel like taking a flier on Sunday, a $100 bet on that prop would return $13,000 in profit if Larson pulls off the highly improbable feat of two wins. There have been 22 attempts at the double, among 14 drivers. Only Tony Stewart, in 2001, completed all 1,100 miles, taking sixth at Indy and third at Charlotte. Worth noting: No driver attempting the double has ever won either race. 2025 Kentucky Derby odds: Sovereignty's win was 'positive decision' for house
Kentucky Derby odds are a bit different than typical sports betting. Most horse racing action comes in the form of parimutuel betting, in which all wagers are pooled and the house — the sportsbook or racebook — gets a set percentage of the amount bet. So in the wake of the 2025 Derby, you won't see too many pieces about the public betting masses cleaning up or the bookmakers taking a bath. However, some sportsbooks also offered the more standard fixed-odds betting, taking wagers on which horse would win. Ostensibly, it's like a futures bet on a golf tournament or a NASCAR race. And there were decisions, though, generally speaking, the books still came out well. Caesars Sports horse racing trader Jason Jingeleski helps recap wagering on 2025 Kentucky Derby odds. Exit Sandman Sandman was a trendy play throughout the week leading up to Saturday's Triple Crown opener at Churchill Downs. Caesars opened Sandman as the 6/1 third choice, and he got as long as 9/1, but ultimately closed as the 5/1 second choice at post time. However, Sandman — whose name is a hat tip to Metallica's megahit "Enter Sandman" — didn't particularly like the wet, muddy conditions. He finished 12.5 lengths behind winner Sovereignty. "With 11% of tickets written on Sandman, he was our most popular bet," Jingeleski said, while noting that even if Sandman won, Caesars would've still scored a modest win on the Derby odds market. Sovereignty in the Slop On the flip side, Sovereignty found the track conditions to his liking. Under jockey Junior Alvarado, Sovereignty overtook favored Journalism in the front stretch to win in 2 minutes, 2.31 seconds. Sovereignty opened as the 5/1 second choice, but slid out as far as 11/1 and closed 10/1 at post time. If you'd gotten down on the 3-year-old at 11/1 (+1100), a $100 bet would've netted a tidy profit of $1,100 (total payout $1,200). Sovereignty drew a fair amount of action to win, though not enough to put Caesars in the red. "It wasn't the most favorable decision, but Sovereignty's first-place finish was a positive decision for Caesars," Jingeleski said. Favorite Falls Just short Journalism was the favorite all week long at Caesars, opening at 5/2, stretching out to 4/1, then closing at 7/2. He finished second, 1.5 lengths behind Sovereignty. "Journalism accounted for the second-highest ticket count on the Kentucky Derby," Jingeleski said, adding that a Journalism victory — much like Sovereignty and Sandman — still would've been a winner for the book. "We had two horses that would have been favorable decisions for the public: Flying Mohawk, who closed at 25/1, and Render Judgment, who closed at 16/1," Jingeleski said. However, neither finished anywhere near the lead. In a 19-horse field, Render Judgment was 17th and Flying Mohawk 18th. 2025 The Masters odds: 'We were just doing backflips constantly'
Sunday afternoon proved to be a wild ride for bettors who got involved with The Masters odds. Rest assured, it was equally wild for the sportsbooks. In-play odds saw crazy fluctuations, as the Rory rollercoaster ride made its way to the green jacket. "It was basically like gymnastics with numbers — we were just doing backflips constantly," Caesars Sports golf trader Anthony Salleroli said. "Every stroke is weighted so much more in the fourth round, especially late in the round." Salleroli helped document a nerve-wracking Sunday in the 2025 Masters odds market. Early Flip-Flop Rory McIlroy entered Sunday with a two-shot lead and was the -200 favorite to win the Masters. Bryson DeChambeau was the +250 second choice. But McIlroy's jaunt to the green jacket got off to an extremely inauspicious start. He double-bogeyed No. 1, dropping into a tie with DeChambeau at 10 under. Then McIlroy parred No. 2, while DeChambeau got a birdie to take the lead at 11 under. All of a sudden, DeChambeau was the short favorite. "Within two holes, we had a new leader," Salleroli said, noting an immediate rush on in-play odds. "The run on DeChambeau bets was incredible, thinking a Rory collapse was coming, as it has in the past." Instead, McIlroy quickly steadied the ship with birdies on Nos. 3 and 4, while DeChambeau bogeyed both holes. So Rory returned to the favorite at 12 under. Build Up, Then Blow Up Birdies on 9 and 10 put McIlroy at 14 under and seemingly in full control. With eight holes left, he had a five-shot lead. His odds stretched to -1000 or beyond. Even at only -1000, it would take a $1,000 bet just to win $100 on Rory ($1,100 total payout). McIlroy bogeyed No. 11, which didn't really harm his odds much. But then things got really interesting, with Justin Rose — playing a couple holes ahead of McIlroy — making a strong finishing kick as Rory reached No. 13. "You could've had Rose at +4000 before Rory dunked it in the water on 13. Then Rose immediately went to +400," Salleroli said. McIlroy ultimately took a double-bogey 7 on 13, and he followed with a bogey on 14, dropping to 10 under again. "Everybody started to get back in the chase. Ludvig Aberg was right there, even in the lead briefly. Patrick Reed was making a slow creeper charge," Salleroli said. Aberg, also playing a couple holes ahead of McIlroy, was briefly a short favorite. But he bogeyed No. 17, then took triple bogey on 18 to ruin his chances. Rose Blooms As noted above, Rose was making a big run while McIlroy was falling down. Rose birdied eight of the final 12 holes, including a huge 20-foot putt on 18 to finish at 11-under 277. All Rose could do from there was wait. McIlroy birdied 15 — though he blew a great eagle chance there — to draw even with Rose at 11 under. When McIlroy birdied 17 to take a one-shot lead, it seemed like he might finally seal the deal. Even after finding a greenside bunker on 18, McIlroy got out to about four feet for a par putt to win it. As fate would have it, though, he missed, and it was on to a playoff against Rose. "Now you know you're just heads-up, McIlroy vs. Rose, sudden death. A lot of suspense," Salleroli said. In the playoff, Caesars made McIlroy a -140 favorite and Rose a +110 underdog as the two made their way back to the 18th tee. "You knew Rory was gonna outdrive Rose," Salleroli said, noting that after the tee shots, Rory became a bigger favorite at -220. "Then Rose sticks his approach to 12-15 feet. But then comes McIlroy, and he butters it up and lands it right next to the hole. "When Rory hit his to within three feet, we went to McIlroy -650. And once Rose missed his putt — just barely — we took the odds off the board." Finishing Touch McIlroy then made his putt and made history, as the sixth player to complete a career Grand Slam. Bettors were generally satisfied, as McIlroy was No. 1 in ticket count at several sportsbooks, including Caesars, BetMGM, DraftKings and The SuperBook. "Customers were very happy with the Rory outcome," Salleroli said, while noting that in-play action was strong on both McIlroy and Rose for the one playoff hole. "That was lots of fun. It's great to see two-sided action. A lot of the public bettors were rooting for Rory or rooting for Rose. "It was great action all day, and it was a great day for the sport of golf."
