#SHOWBIZ: Cakra Khan promises an unforgettable concert
POPULAR Indonesian singer Cakra Khan is all set to make a grand return to the Malaysian stage next month. And he's pulling out all the stops to deliver a night to remember for his fans. With his signature husky vocals and emotive delivery, the 33-year-old artiste is gearing up for his much-anticipated solo performance, the Cakra Khan Divine Concert. The show is set to take place on Aug 2 at the Plenary Hall in the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. Speaking at a recent press conference to announce the concert, Cakra playfully expressed his deep love for performing. "If it were entirely up to me, I'd love to sing more than 30 songs during my concert! "As long as the audience is enjoying themselves, I could sing all night." However, despite his enthusiasm, he admitted that some compromises had to be made. "After detailed discussions with the production team and taking into account the time limits, we had to narrow down the song list. "I love being on stage, but we also want the show to be polished and well-paced." Presented by Shiraz Projects, the Kuala Lumpur concert is part of a two-stop showcase. Cakra had previously performed across the Causeway at The Star Theatre in Singapore on July 18. The concert's theme, "Divine", was carefully chosen to represent more than just a musical performance. As explained by Shiraz Projects managing director Shirazdeen Karim, the word "Divine" embodies Cakra Khan's extraordinary journey — from humble beginnings to successfully establishing a solid presence in the Southeast Asian music scene. "This concert comes at a timely moment, as Cakra continues to solidify his status as one of the most unique vocalists in the region," said Shirazdeen. "It's a celebration of his voice, artistry and the emotional depth he brings to every performance." Fans can expect an evocative mix of hits, from timeless favourites like 'Kekasih Bayangan' to fresh new tracks that showcase the evolution of his sound. What's more, Cakra has promised a different setlist for each city, ensuring that fans in Malaysia and Singapore enjoy unique experiences. "There will be some songs I performed in Singapore that I won't sing in KL, and vice versa," he explained. "I'm also including some new songs and reworking the arrangements for older ones. It's about creating something special and unforgettable for each audience." But that's not all, as Cakra won't be taking to the stage alone. Fans are in for a treat, as the concert will also feature special appearances by renowned guest performers, including Marsha Milan, Ade Govinda, Titi DJ, Trio XL and Faizal Lubis. These collaborations are expected to elevate the night's musical atmosphere further, giving fans and music lovers a truly memorable experience. Cakra emphasised that he has personally invested time and energy into every detail of the show, from the lighting to the stage design to the musical arrangements. "This time around, I've been really hands-on with everything. I want the entire experience, visually and sonically, to be satisfying for everyone who comes." As for the final number of songs, he revealed that the concert will feature close to 30 tracks, carefully selected and arranged to deliver both emotional depth and powerful vocals without overwhelming the timeline. "We had to be realistic. Initially, I really did want to perform over 30 songs, but once we broke down the rehearsal schedule and concert duration, we had to cut back a little," he said with a smile. "Still, I'm confident fans will feel the magic we've put into this." With anticipation steadily building, the Cakra Khan Divine Concert promises not only a night of great music but also a celebration of passion, perseverance and the power of a voice that continues to move hearts across generations.

Cakra Khan shelters 30 stray cats as therapy
KUALA LUMPUR - Beyond his reputation as one of Indonesia's most powerful voices, Cakra Khan leads a private life shaped by compassion and quiet devotion. Cakra, whose full name is Cakra Konta Paryaman, 33, is an avid animal lover and spends up to RM6,000 a month to care for over 30 stray cats he has been sheltering at his home in Jakarta for the past three years. The raspy-voiced singer said all the cats were rescued from the streets and have become part of his daily therapy. - Bernama photo The raspy-voiced singer said all the cats were rescued from the streets and have become part of his daily therapy. "Recently, I rescued a cat with a heart condition that requires constant oxygen. So, I bought an oxygen generator and gas supplies for it. "I make sure each cat receives weekly treatment. All of them have been sterilised and are free to roam around the house," he said at a press conference in conjunction with the Divine Concert - Cakra Khan, here recently. Cakra, who also employs a house helper to assist in caring for the cats, said his love for animals does not depend on their breed or appearance. "I don't care what type they are-as long as they're healthy, that's enough. All my cats are village cats," he said, adding that he hopes to open an animal shelter one day. He believes that every animal that comes into his home is a blessing to be shared. "I always try to do something, even if small, so I can feel useful. I've never been afraid of running out of money to care for them. I believe there will always be a way," said the singer, who also enjoys gardening as a form of self-therapy after long work days. Meanwhile, Cakra will be performing a more intimate-style concert in the Divine Concert - Cakra Khan at the Plenary Hall, KLCC on Aug 2, following a similar concert at The Star Theatre, Singapore on July 18. "In previous concerts, I performed in a more serious format with a full orchestra. This time, I want it to be freer and more playful. I arranged the songs, lighting, and stage myself so the audience can experience something more personal,' he said. He added that the concert will also introduce his second album, titled Divine, which was released last year-over a decade after launching his first album. "My first album came out in 2013. After that, I focused more on singles because the promotional strategy suited me better. But as a singer, I still want to leave behind something lasting, which is why this album means a lot to me. "In this album, I stepped out of my comfort zone and was given the freedom to explore different genres, including pop, ballads, and classical. Some songs are emotional, others are joyful,' said Cakra, who recorded the album in several locations including Bali and Bandung, Indonesia. The concert, organised by Shiraz Projects, will feature guest artistes such as Titi DJ, Ade Govinda, Marsha Milan Londoh, Faizal Lubis, Ernie Zakri, and vocal group Trio XL. "I love creating space for collaborations. For instance, I've never sung a duet with Ernie before, but I know she's extraordinary. I'm also obsessed with classical music, which is why I invited Trio XL-their voices are strong and technically refined. I believe in their vocal abilities and character,' he said. Tickets for the Kuala Lumpur concert are priced between RM255 and RM1,295 and can be purchased at while tickets for the Singapore concert are priced between SG$128 and SG$248 via - BERNAMA

#SHOWBIZ: Animal lover Cakra Khan keeps 30 stray cats as pets
KUALA LUMPUR: Indonesian singer Cakra Khan unwinds by gardening and caring for his pets, finding it a refreshing way to clear his mind. "I have 30 cats at home. All of them were strays," said the singer, who spends around IDR20 million (RM5,191) monthly on their welfare. "I don't mind forking out that amount, as I believe part of my 'rezeki' (blessings) is meant for them too." Cakra revealed that one of his latest rescues was a cat with a heart problem. "So, to care for the cat, I bought the necessary equipment, including an oxygen generator," he told reporters at a press conference held here today to announce his upcoming 'Divine Concert – Cakra Khan'. "I do all of this just so I feel that I can be useful to someone." When asked why he doesn't keep purebred cats, the 33-year-old animal lover explained he prefers to adopt ordinary cats rather than buying expensive breeds. "As long as the cats are healthy, that's good enough for me," said Cakra, who has been caring for these cats for the past three years. Once rescued, he ensures they are neutered. While he doesn't require a personal helper, Cakra employs a maid specifically to assist him with his uncaged feline companions. The singer also confessed to being a big fan of a particular curry-flavoured instant noodle from Malaysia. "Each time I come here, I bring home a lot of them because the same instant noodle I can get back home tastes a little different," he explained. "Each member of my entourage helps me carry home about four cartons. Sometimes I do get into trouble at customs," he said with a laugh, adding that another Malaysian favourite is Mee Goreng Mamak. Presented by Shiraz Projects, Cakra Khan is set to perform his 'Divine Concert' at KLCC's Plenary Hall on Aug 2. Before that, the same concert will take place at The Star Theatre in Singapore on July 18.
