Shark! Celebrity Infested Waters 'bores' viewers despite shark biting star

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Shark! Celebrity Infested Waters has failed to impress fans, as the show was labelled rather dull – despite one celebrity being bitten by a shark in the first episode. The new series Shark! Celebrity Infested Water kicked off on Monday night with the celebrities getting stuck into the ITV series, trying to promote the importance of shark preservation. In the very first part of the show, the celebs were informed that they would be cage diving with bull sharks later that day in the tropical waters surrounding Bimini, in the Bahamas. Of the famous faces, including Motherland star Lucy Punch, Comedian Sir Lenny Henry, McFly star Dougie Poynter, and Countdown's Rachel Riley, it was Call the Midwife actress Helen George. '#SharkCelebrityInfestedWaters – cumbersome title. Good lineup. It's not a schlocky competition-type show and I'm not really sure why it's happening. So far, not particularly fun or interesting… I want it to ramp up a gear,' said MatthewRimmer on X. 'This must be the worst piece of telly have ITV have ever made, and THAT is saying something #sharkcelebrityinfestedwaters,' said DylanDylan1909. 'Why are they putting the poor sharks through the trauma of these celebrities? #sharkcelebrityinfestedwaters,' said CallMe_Governor. 'Only 20 minutes in and I'm bored already!' said GrantSRivers. 'This has all the hallmarks of another 'Genius Game' for itv #sharkcelebrityinfestedwaters,' said PJDavies1962, comparing it to the negatively reviewed game show for ITV. Towards the end of the episode, Ross was bitten by a lemon shark, and the group had to retreat from the sea as the instructors decided that things had got a little bit intense. Although the comedian was unscathed, with the shark only nipping at his wetsuit, the celebs were shaken by the event, which had escalated so quickly. Fans were unfazed by this moment, but pointing out some of the stronger parts of the episodes, viewers praised ITV for making adjustments to the experience so Ade Adepitan, who is physically disabled, was able to participate fully. 'I love how @AdeAdepitan is making sure that this show is making reasonable adjustments for people with a disability so they can face sharks too!' said ciaraspinkpod. Much of the episode focused on Helen. Within the first few minutes of the show, Helen admitted to the camera that she wasn't just afraid of sharks, she also had a fear of water and struggles to keep her head underwater. Helen and the other celebs revealed that she was surprised to confront sharks on the first day, assuming there would be a warm-up period before they actually got in the water with the sharks, and was the last celebrity to get in the sea. Later that evening, the celebrities cheered as Helen joined them for drinks and toasted to her bravery. 'I'm like Helen George in that I'm scared of water etc, and I most definitely couldn't have done some of what she did so kudos to her. #sharkcelebrityinfestedwaters,' said XxLadyClaireXx on X. Ahead of the episode, Rachel spoke to Metro about her experience on the show and mentioned Helen's bravery in the series. More Trending 'What's lovely about the show is we were a team and she's the strongest person I know,' says Rachel. 'She's had the biggest achievement out of all of us so we're all really proud of her, to have the strength of character and strength of mind to not only overcome getting your face in the water, but to go out in the open ocean, take your mask off underwater, she did so much.' Barbz vs. Billionaire: Nicki Minaj Claims Jay-Z Owes Her $200 Million–'Call Me To Settle This Karmic Debt'

Nicki Minaj is taking her feud with Jay-Z to another level, blasting the billionaire for allegedly owing her what she says is hundreds of millions of dollars. Source: Nicki Minaj and Jay-Z The rapper has been shading the Roc Nation founder for weeks, and on Tuesday, July 8, Minaj escalated her recent claims that Jay-Z owed her millions of dollars for her stake in Tidal. When Hov launched the music streaming platform back in 2015, fifteen artists–including Nicki, Beyoncé, Rihanna, and Ye–were gifted three percent Tidal equity, worth $56 million at the time, per Complex . In 2021, Tidal was sold to Square for $302 million, with Minaj and the other celebrity owners reportedly keeping their stake after the sale. Now the rapper is saying that she was offered $1 million for her share of the company, not the approximately $9 million that she would be owed if the company was valued at the price of the Square sale. Because of this, Nicki is publicly blasting Jay-Z for allegedly owing her an amount that nears the entire price of the sale. 'We've calculated about 100-200MM so far,' she wrote on X. '#JayZ call me to settle this karmic debt. It's only collecting more interest.' She added, 'And anyone still calling him Hov will answer to God for the blasphemy.' Minaj went on to repost Barbz who backed her claims, going on to say that she'd use the money she claims is owed to her 'to send some of my Barbz to college, pay their school fees & student loans via my #StudentOfTheGame charity.' Nicki went on to direct further criticism at Roc Nation as a whole when she called out CEO Desiree Perez, sharing a screenshot of a video that accused Perez of abusing her own daughter, Demoree. The clip alleges that Perez held her daughter against her will and physically assaulted her, claims that have not been verified, according to Vibe . She went on to blast Jay-Z for hiring a CEO that's not Black, tweeting, 'Isn't this the lady being accused by her daughter of being racist against black ppl #JayZ?!?!!!! There was no black woman smart enough to be the CEO of your company?!?' She went on to address Jay and 'Desirat' personally, saying they ruined hiphop, football, basketball, touring, Instagram, and Twitter, adding, 'All of this is alleged & for entertainment purposes only.' While Nicki's rants are going up on X now, she started her rampage on Instagram, which she now claims to be locked out of. After sharing multiple posts slamming Jay-Z, Roc Nation, and Megan Thee Stallion, Minaj claimed on X: 'Barbz it looks like I've been locked out of my Instagram.' While she doesn't say it explicitly, Nicki seems to be implying that Jay-Z had something to do with locking her out of Instagram, which is her reasoning for saying he and Roc Nation ruined the platform. It's unclear how long her alleged ban will last, but until then, it doesn't seem like her tweeting is slowing down anytime soon. Obituary: Clem Burke, musician

Clem Burke on stage in 2014. Clem Burke was the man whose versatile drumming propelled US punk band Blondie to the worldwide chart toppers. "Clem was not just a drummer; he was the heartbeat of Blondie," the band said in a statement. "His talent, energy and passion for music were unmatched, and his contributions to our sound and success are immeasurable." A self-proclaimed "rock'n'roll survivalist", New Jersey-born Burke started playing the drums when he was 14 in his school orchestra but was kicked out for playing too loud. After leaving school he answered a band's ad in the Village Voice seeking a "freak energy" rock drummer, kicking off his decades-long career with lead singer Debbie Harry and the rest of his Blondie bandmates. Burke had found the right band at the right time and Blondie was soon in the ascendancy of a scene which produced bands such as Television, The Ramones and Talking Heads. During the late 1970s and early '80s, Blondie had eight US top 40 hits, including four No 1s: Heart of Glass, Call Me, The Tide Is High and Rapture, which is regarded as the first No 1 hit to feature rap. Burke's mark was especially solidified with his rapid, powerful drumming at the start of Dreaming in 1979. In 2006 Burke and the other original members of Blondie were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame after selling more than 42 million records. As the 2020s dawned the band was still on the road. "We never would have thought that we would still be here today. Looking back at our archives, it's pretty amazing," Burke said. Clem Burke died on April 6 aged 70. — APL/agencies

Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. WWE Women's World Champion Tiffany Stratton threw the first pitch at Thursday's New York Mets home game against the Washington Nationals. Her toss was compared to some of the most infamous celebrity MLB first pitches. Stratton's throw sailed over the left-handed batters' box and one-hopped the backstop, well out of reach for Mets outfielder Jared Young, who was the ceremonial catcher. The Mets chose Stratton to throw the first pitch after her recent successful title defense as the WWE Women's Champion. She won the title in January and has made many successful defenses. The former United States national team gymnast joined the SmackDown brand in 2024 after a dominant run in NXT. Stratton debuted in WWE in November 2021 after winning weightlifting and bodybuilding championships following her gymnastics career. Infamous Celebrity First Pitches Stratton's throw brought to mind other ceremonial first pitches that went wrong. One of the most infamous also happened at a Mets home game at Citi Field. Rapper 50 Cent missed the plate by an unbelievable margin when he threw the first pitch at a May 2014 game in Queens. That gaffe remains a major celebrity lowlight on the mound a decade later. Not quite Baba Booey but not far off, either. At least it was at a Mets game. They're used to seeing throws like that. 😂 — Eh, what's up Doc  (@rabbitSZN2) June 12, 2025 While 50 Cent's throw is a benchmark for bad ceremonial first pitches, he is not alone. "Call Me, Maybe" singer Carly Rae Jepsen spiked a ball directly into the turf in 2013 at Tropicana Field before a Tampa Bay Rays game. Other Sports Stars and Celebrities Miss the Mark Stratton is not the only combat sports star to go viral for a bad first pitch. UFC legend Conor McGregor had a moment to forget at Wrigley Field in 2021. He launched a fastball to the backstop, far beyond the right-handed batters' box. The throw bounced off the brick wall and sharply towards the first base dugout. On international soil, five-time Grammy Award winner Mariah Carey tossed a ball into the turf well in front of the plate in 2008. Wearing high heels and 2000s attire, Carey threw the first pitch at the Tokyo Dome before a game between the Yomiuri Giants and Rakuten Eagles. Her offering did not even make it halfway to the catcher. Ceremonial first pitches come with significant pressure, and some celebrities handle the moment better than others. Doobie Brothers celebrate new album with intimate, feel-good concert

Doobie Brothers celebrate new album with intimate, feel-good concert Show Caption Hide Caption Doobie Brothers' founding drummer dies more than 50 years after band started John Hartman, the founding drummer of 70's rock band the Dobbie Brothers, has died at 72. Associated Press NEW YORK — The Doobie Brothers haven't lost their stride. The genre-melting rock 'n' rollers released new album 'Walk This Road' June 6, which they toasted with an intimate, sold-out concert at Irving Plaza that evening. Playing to a raucous crowd of just over 1,000 people, the jazz- and soul-infused band debuted a smattering of fresh tunes, from the breezy, good-natured 'Call Me,' to the bluesy 'Learn to Let Go,' a silky showcase for singer/keyboardist Michael McDonald's inimitable vocals. 'This is kind of our record release party, so we're celebrating and we're so glad you're here with us,' cofounder Patrick Simmons said, noting the challenge of swapping in a multitude of instruments between songs in such a tiny venue. 'We're moving slow up here, because everything's coming from that corner up there. But you know, we're just having fun.' Highlights of the roughly hour-and-a-half-long set included 'Without You,' featuring a scorching guitar break as Simmons, Tom Johnston and John McFee all jammed and swayed in sync at the lip of the stage. Marc Russo's swirling saxophone enraptured the audience on 'Here to Love You' and 'Long Train Runnin',' while Ed Toth's dexterous drums helped propel country-fried fan favorites 'Black Water' and 'Jesus is Just Alright With Me.' 'We thank you all for coming down here,' Johnston said, before launching into familiar hit 'Listen to the Music' to close out the night. 'You sound so good and we appreciate it. We're going to sing one last song, and if you'd like to sing along, we've love to have you, alright?' Interview: Doobie Brothers on new album, tour, hall of fame: 'You have to think beyond your age' The Doobie Brothers' Manhattan stop was an appetizer before their upcoming North American tour, which kicks off Aug. 4 in Detroit. The Coral Reefer Band, who toured and recorded with the late Jimmy Buffett, will join the grizzled foursome on their six-week trek. 'We're all in our 70's now,' Simmons told USA TODAY in a recent interview. 'I used to think that was old. I do feel it, but it's hard to believe we're out here doing it at this age, and in my head I'm still 16. You have to think beyond your age. It's a life adventure.
