Ammanford Farmers Market teams up with town council

The Ammanford Food Festival will be a continuation of the Ammanford Farmers Market organized by Cameron Reardon and James Mordue from The Secret PlantHouse. It will take place at Ammanford Arcade, Arcade Plaza & Quay Street and feature over 70 traders such as Hollystar Candles, Alana Jayne Jewellery, Ted n Bears Tasty Treats, Boar Valley Bakes, Mountain Fresh Welsh Lamb and BeefMagpie Pies and more. There will be a food festival in Ammanford. (Image: Ammanford Farmers Market) Deputy Mayor of Ammanford Town Council, Cllr Calum Higgins said: 'Ammanford town council have invested a significant amount of money into town events this year, to bring more footfall into the town centre and help local businesses. 'It's great to see a busy Ammanford town centre, with great weather, and local businesses team up to promote the town. We want to see more of this in the future and look forward to working in with all the businesses in Ammanford in the future.' Since the market's first edition on Saturday, May 3, the event has become a popular event in Ammanford. Tomorrow's edition of Ammanford Farmers Market sees the organisers team up with Ammanford Town Council to deliver the biggest event so far in The Arcade. The market runs from 9am to 4pm, featuring a range of stalls such as food, coffee, gifts, crafts and more. There will also be free parking at Margaret Street Car Park to encourage as many visitors as possible. In the last Ammanford Farmers Market on June 7, the event was so popular that every stall was sold out halfway through the day. A spokesperson for Ammanford Farmers Market posted on Facebook: 'We've teamed up with Ammanford Town Council to bring you our biggest market yet, the Farmers Market: Food Festival Edition! Saturday 12th July | 9am–4pm 'Get ready for an epic town takeover with over 70 local traders stretching from the top of the Arcade right down to Quay Street! Whether you're a foodie, crafter, coffee lover or gift hunter, you won't want to miss this. 'FREE PARKING is available at Margaret Street Car Park (opposite the Arcade) just park up, stroll through the vibrant Arcade Plaza, then finish your day at Quay Street.' 'Tag your market mates, plan your foodie route, and join us for a day of flavour, fun and proper local magic.'

The event was held on Saturday, May 3 at the Arcade Plaza near Margaret Street Car Park and featured a variety of products from Carmarthenshire-based businesses. Pictures have now emerged of the farmers market which was organised by Cameron Reardon and James Mordue from The Secret PlantHouse. The market was held near the Victorian Arcade. (Image: Cameron Reardon) Following the event, businesses have expressed their gratitude for the increased footfall which was present on the Bank Holiday weekend. A range of local businesses attended the event. (Image: Cameron Reardon) The Old Arcade Café wrote: 'What a day yesterday for us independent businesses in the top of town. The arcade was really busy, thank you to all who stopped by and visited all of us! 'Great work The Secret PlantHouse on organising the market in the square, let's hope this is the start of something regular and special for all us independent businesses.' The farmers market included local butchers, candles & homeware, fresh produce and artisan goods. "The support from the community has been overwhelming and it's so clear Ammanford really needed something like this. "A massive thank you to the amazing Ammanford Arcade family - putting the gazebo this morning was an absolute laugh, but we got there in the end. Your support in the run-up today has been incredible and so appreciated. "And of course, I want to give a heartfelt thank you to James and the wonderful Katie, my absolute superstars. Cameron even revealed how a local business was meant to go to another farmers market but decided to stay in Ammanford once they found out the event was taking place.

On Saturday, May 3, Ammanford Farmers Market will be held at the Arcade Plaza near Margaret Street Car Park. The event is being organised by The Secret PlantHouse – a business run by Cameron Reardon and James Mordue that replaced Arcade News on December 6, 2024. Our aim is to bring life to the other side of Ammanford and bring more attention to the arcade. We are hoping to introduce people to the area who perhaps haven't visited Ammanford before which could benefit tourism. 'We have tried to offer things in the market that are not known in Ammanford. But we are sticking to businesses based in Carmarthenshire. There will be a good variety of products, and we want the market to be authentic. 'Other businesses have jumped on board. One local business even cancelled their trip to another market so they could come and take part in this one. 'The local council has also been fantastic with helping us to get licensing. It feels like the whole community is very appreciative of what we are creating.' A range of local businesses will attend the market. Cameron continued: 'Things have been going fantastic at the shop. We have expanded our gardens into the shop opposite us and now we are looking to hire more staff on a part-time basis.'
