What's open and closed in Winnipeg on Canada Day
Canada Day is coming up on Tuesday, July 1, which means several businesses and city services will be closed or operating at reduced hours. Here is a list of what's open and closed on the statutory holiday. City Services All civic offices in Winnipeg will be closed on Canada Day. Recycling and garbage will be collected as regularly scheduled for people with Tuesday as their collection day. The Brady Road Landfill will open from 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Brady 4R Winnipeg Depot will open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Pacific 4R and Panet 4R depots will both be closed on Canada Day. Winnipeg Transit will run on an enhanced Sunday schedule, which includes additional blue line trips between Assiniboine Park and The Forks. Transit will also offer additional late-night service, with the last buses leaving the downtown area at 12:40 a.m. All libraries, as well as fitness and leisure centres, are closed on Canada Day. All outdoor pools will open on Tuesday, but indoor pools will be closed. Wading pools will start opening on a staggered basis beginning on July 1. The Animal Services Agency is closed on Canada Day. Brookside, Transcona and St. Vital cemeteries will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., but the administration office at Brookside will be closed. Canoe Club, Crescent Drive, Kildonan Park and Windsor Park golf courses will be open on Canada Day. Museums and Galleries The Canadian Museum for Human Rights is open with free admission from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday. The Manitoba Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday. The Winnipeg Art Gallery—Qaumajuq is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Canada Day. Shopping The Grant Park Shopping Centre and St. Vital Centre will be closed on Tuesday. CF Polo Park, Garden City Shopping Centre, Kildonan Place and Outlet Collection Winnipeg will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. All Liquor Marts in Winnipeg and Brandon will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Canada Day, except for the True North Square location, which will be closed. Rural hours vary by location. Events There are several Canada Day celebrations taking place in Winnipeg and across Manitoba, including at The Forks, Assiniboine Park, and Princess Auto Stadium.
