Wideman's final slash line for 2025 season was .398/.466/.652 for an OPS of 1.118. He was widely considered one of the top players in the country to enter the transfer portal, and his chances of being selected in the draft were always fairly high after his 2025 season. Clemson baseball signee selected by New York Yankees early in MLB draft Shortstop Dax Kilby, who had committed to Clemson out of Newnan High School in Georgia, was selected by the Yankees with the No. 39 overall pick in the draft. With that comes a $2,509,500 slot value. Another incoming Clemson signee to watch on Day 2 of the draft Monday is LHP Nick Frusco from Miller Place High School in New York. Frusco made top 250 draft prospect rankings at No. 249 overall. Which MLB team drafted Clemson outfielder Cam Cannarella? Who drafted Clemson outfielder Cam Cannarella in 2025 MLB draft? Full pick, signing info
It might have taken longer than some expected for Clemson Tigers outfielder Cam Cannarella to hear his name called in the 2025 MLB draft Sunday night in Atlanta, but the three-year college star is nevertheless headed to the next level. The Miami Marlins selected Cannarella with the 43rd overall pick in the Competitive Balance Round of the draft, one pick before the draft's second round began. The slot value for where Cannarella was drafted is $2.28 million. Heading into the night, Cannarella was ranked the No. 36 overall prospect by Cannarella had a remarkable three-year run at Clemson, posting a career .360 batting average and 1.004 OPS while playing in 178 games for coach Erik Bakich. With Cannarella in the lineup, the Tigers advanced to a Super Regional in 2024 for the first time in 14 years and made the NCAA Tournament in each of his three seasons, winning the ACC in 2023. Cannarella is the first Clemson player to be drafted by the Marlins organization since outfielder Kris Harvey was selected in the second round at No. 64 overall in the 2005 draft. His play in the outfield was just as impressive. Among Cannarella's highlight reel plays, none were as jaw-dropping as his Willie Mays' style catch in the Clemson Super Regional against the Florida Gators in 2024. This past season, Cannarella batted a team-high .353 while playing in 61 of the Tigers' 63 games. His home run production dipped a bit after undergoing surgery following the 2024 season, but he hit five long balls to go with a team-leading 22 doubles and 52 RBIs in 2025. He reached base at a .479 clip. Cannarella totaled 23 home runs, 54 doubles, and 159 RBIs in three seasons at Clemson. He also stole 30 bases in 41 attempts, the bulk of which came during his freshman season in 2023 (24-of-29). The Tigers finished the 2025 season 45-18 overall and were ranked No. 20 in the final USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll after being eliminated from the NCAA Tournament following back-to-back losses to West Virginia and Kentucky in the Clemson Regional. Clemson climbed to as high as No. 2 in the Coaches Poll in the regular season and reached the ACC Tournament's championship game against North Carolina. A year ago, Clemson had five players taken in the MLB draft, including four in the first five rounds: infielder Blake Wright (fourth round, Colorado Rockies), right-hander Austin Gordon (fourth round, Los Angeles Angels), outfielder Will Taylor (fifth round, Pittsburgh Pirates), left-hander Tristan Smith (fifth round, Cincinnati Reds), and right-hander Rocco Reid (15th round, Arizona Diamondbacks). Clemson baseball signee selected by New York Yankees in MLB draft Shortstop Dax Kilby, who had signed with the Tigers out of Newnan High School in Georgia, was the first player with Clemson ties to be selected in the draft. Kilby was ranked as the No. 62 overall prospect by but was drafted well ahead of that projection by the Yankees with the 39th overall pick. Another incoming Clemson signee to watch in the draft is left-hander Nick Frusco from Miller Place High School in New York. Frusco made top 250 draft prospect rankings at No. 249 overall. Outfielder Ryan Wideman, who transferred to Clemson from Western Kentucky following an All-American season in 2024, is also a name to watch in this year's draft. Wideman ranks as No. 155 overall draft prospect after batting a team-best .398 with 10 home runs, 36 extra base hits and 68 RBIs this past season. He stole 45 bases in 47 attempts as a top-of-the-order threat. Contact us @Clemson_Wire on X, and like our page on Facebook for ongoing coverage of Clemson Tigers news and notes, plus opinions.

Where Clemson baseball outfielder Cam Cannarella lands in final 2025 MLB draft projections
The 2025 MLB draft officially begins Sunday night in Atlanta. For Clemson Tigers outfielder Cam Cannarella, it's only a matter of time before he hears his name called. Whether it's in the first round (picks 1-27), the supplemental first round (picks 28-43), or the second round (picks 44-65), Cannarella seems to have done enough to earn an early selection. The Tigers' best all-around player for the better part of three seasons, Cannarella generally had a strong season in 2025. He closed the year with a .353 batting average, 22 doubles and a combined OPS of 1.009. His home run production dipped to just five long balls, down from 11 a year earlier after undergoing surgery at the end of 2024. With MLB's draft fast approaching, various outlets have unveiled their final 2025 mock drafts. Veteran amateur baseball analyst Kiley McDaniel of ESPN has Cannarella going in the top 40 picks at No. 40 overall to the defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers in the supplemental first round. Over at longtime MLB draft and minor league baseball analyst Jonathan Mayo sees Cannarella going a few picks higher in the draft to the Boston Red Sox with the No. 33 overall selection. Cannarella's highest projection comes from Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter, who has Cannarella being taken by the Cleveland Guardians with the final pick in the first round at No. 27 overall. Reuter said of Cannarella: "Cam Cannarella checks the contact-oriented box with a 55-grade hit tool, and he adds secondary appeal as a sure-fire center fielder with Gold Glove potential. He hit .360/.453/.551 in 865 plate appearances during his three years at Clemson, and offers enough potential value to overlook his limited power." While it's not an official mock draft, Yahoo Sports' Jonathan Shusterman lists Cannarella as the No. 31 overall player in his Top 50 player rankings ahead of the MLB draft. Shusterman adds a word of caution about Cannarella's dip in power: "The cloud hanging over his exciting profile has been a right shoulder injury that required surgery after his sophomore season, which seemingly sapped his power output as a junior, when he hit just five home runs in 61 games. His aggressiveness on the basepaths also mysteriously disappeared, as he stole just six bases the past two seasons (with all six coming in 2025) after swiping 24 as a freshman. His stellar glove, bat-to-ball skills and advanced approach give Cannarella a safe floor, but his ceiling will be dictated by how much he can tap into his power and speed at the next level." The 2025 MLB draft begins Sunday at 6 p.m. ET from Atlanta. The first three rounds of the draft will be televised on ESPN and MLB Network, with rounds 4-20 available on MLB Network.

Clemson players, prospects who are participating in the 2025 MLB draft combine
Clemson players, prospects who are participating in the 2025 MLB draft combine The MLB Draft Combine kicks off Tuesday at noon (EDT) in Phoenix, and Clemson will once again have a presence at the event. Per Baseball America, outfielder Cam Cannarella, standout transfer Ryan Wideman, and incoming signees Dax Kilby (SS) and Nick Frusco (LHP) are among the attendees. Cannarella and Kilby have both drawn Day 1 draft projections, with currently projecting Cannarella to go No. 38 overall to the Mets. Cannarella is the highest-ranked among the four, coming in at No. 39 on prospect list. Kilby follows at No. 79, Wideman at 155, and Frusco is currently unranked. Wideman, a Clemson legacy, recently transferred from Western Kentucky and joins Cannarella in earning All-American recognition for the 2024 season. calls Kilby 'one of the more polished high school bats' with second-round potential if he's signable. Cannarella is praised for his elite bat-to-ball skills, though there are questions about his power and swing discipline. Wideman is described as a highly athletic, toolsy outfielder, but scouts have concerns about his approach and contact quality. Last year, three Clemson-affiliated players attended the combine—two (Will Taylor and Austin Gordon) were drafted, while two signees enrolled at Clemson. The MLB Draft Combine includes medical evaluations, interviews with club executives, and media opportunities. MLB Network will begin live coverage at noon Tuesday.
