Indonesia's Ministry of Health and Philips to deliver nationwide coverage of advanced image-guided therapy systems in Indonesia, expanding access to cardiac, stroke and cancer care in all 38 provinces
July 29, 2025 Amsterdam, the Netherlands and Jakarta, Indonesia – In a major step toward transforming healthcare delivery, Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA), a global leader in health technology and the Indonesia's Ministry of Health today announced plans to deploy state-of-the-art image-guided therapy systems nationwide, as part of their signed agreements, under the Strengthening Indonesia's Healthcare Referral Network (SIHREN) project. The landmark agreements, recently awarded to Philips after an international, competitive bidding process, combine cutting-edge treatment technology, services and training to strengthen Indonesia's health infrastructure. The initiative aims to transform the country's treatment for heart disease, stroke and cancer – Indonesia's leading causes of death – by expanding access to cutting-edge technologies and care in all 38 provinces, from Aceh to Papua. This initiative is set to benefit millions of patients across Indonesia. The SIHREN project is an ambitious effort jointly funded by the World Bank and other multilateral development banks to support Indonesia's health transformation agenda by significantly improving referral healthcare. Challenges in ensuring equitable access to healthcare With a population exceeding 280 million, Indonesia is the world's fourth most populous nation. As a vast archipelago of over 17,000 islands, it faces significant challenges in ensuring equitable access to healthcare. The country is also grappling with a surge in non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as heart disease, stroke and cancer – conditions projected to impose a staggering economic burden of USD 4.47 trillion [1]. And yet, advanced care for these illnesses remains largely centralized on the densely populated island of Java, leaving much of the country underserved. The initiative will establish a nationwide network of advanced image-guided therapy rooms, dramatically expanding access to minimally invasive treatments across hundreds of hospitals in all 38 provinces. The Ministry of Health has made a long-term commitment to delivering nationwide coverage of the Azurion platform, aligned to local hospital infrastructure and patient population needs. A study published in the Journal of Minimally Invasive Surgery [2] found that minimally invasive techniques significantly reduce postoperative pain, recovery time, and hospital stays compared to traditional open surgeries. Renault Announces Stephane Deblaise As CEO For India
Renault Group announced the appointment of Stephane Deblaise as Chief Executive Officer of Renault Group in India, effective September 1, 2025. In this role, he will be responsible for defining and executing the Group's strategy in India. All Renault Group entities in the country will report to him. The brand further explained that he will report directly to Francois Provost, Renault Group Chief of Procurement, Partnerships, and Public Affairs Officer. In addition to his current responsibilities as Managing Director of Renault India Private Limited (RIPL), Venkatram Mamillapalle will support Stephane Deblaise on corporate affairs in India to help structure the Group's mid-term growth strategy in the region. Stephane Deblaise, 52 years old, is a graduate of Telecom Physique Strasbourg and IFP School. Nicole Car's Rusalka glows with moonlit grace and tragic depth
OPERA Rusalka. Opera Australia Sydney Opera House. July 19 Reviewed PETER McCALLUM ★★★★½ Making a welcome and triumphant return to Sydney, Nicole Car sang the title role of Rusalka with all the warmth, strength and depth of humanity that notionally eludes the operatic character she portrays. I say 'notionally' because Rusalka is an allegory for a person who, in failing to understand human fickleness, superficiality and venality, ends by performing the most deeply human act of compassion, sacrifice and love. Car is at her magnificent best when opening out climactically at the peak of phrases with thrilling sound and immaculate melodic arc, but the sound is evenly controlled and shaded across the full range. She unfolded the lines of the opera's most well-known aria, Song to the Moon, with gentle reserve, allowing the melody's natural grace to place a stamp of beauty on this mysterious tale at its outset. It is a performance that fulfils in every respect the exciting promise Car revealed in her earliest roles with Opera Australia (including as Michaela in Carmen, one of the first roles in which she attracted listeners' ears). Tenor Gerard Schneider sang her Prince with attractive light sound and Disneyesque good looks, true in pitch and tone and unforced in expression. As the Water King, Warwick Fyfe maintains a fierce, fretful and doom-laden tone, his chief narrative function being to warn that this isn't going to end well. His appearance in this role accentuated the resonance of Dvorak's opening scene with that of Wagner's Rheingold, in which Fyfe sang a ferocious Alberich in 2023. As though to clinch the connection, director Sarah Giles has chosen to locate this scene not beside the lake, as the stage directions say, but in it. Charles Davis's set, David Bergman's projections and Paul Jackson's lighting create this illusion deftly, conjuring a sense of strangeness and, later, of alienation from the brightly lit vacuousness of the human world. Poetically, the water is the cool subconscious, linked with the unsullied but austere purity of moonlight, which, though corrupted by human contact, remains an ideal of chaste beauty that the Prince aspires to but can attain only in death. By contrast, the human scenes in the castle are filled with paper-cutout people. In this world, Natalie Aroyan has a glowering edge to her tone as Rusalka's flouncing rival, the Duchess. Just as Dvorak leavens the gloom with folk-like music (anticipating the stylistic collisions that his compatriot Janacek was later to exploit), Giles mixes the opera's sorrowful aspect with comedy.

Hyundai: More petrol N performance cars coming, and they'll be affordable
Hyundai may have just revealed its second electric N performance vehicle, but that doesn't mean petrol power is dead at its go-fast division. "We are not limiting ourselves into EV," Hyundai N boss Joon Park told UK outlet Car. "But this is some kind of tendency after we launched Ioniq 5 N, because Ioniq 5 N was a huge message for the entire car industry. And a lot of people thought, and think, that Hyundai N is going towards only EV. It's not true. "We are not focusing on EV only. We are not. I'm not the person who actually really likes the EV. He suggested it would be harder work getting an i20 N replacement approved given that, typically, the smaller the vehicle the smaller the profit margins. He said the turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that powers the i30 N won't appear in a successor model… at least not in Europe. "I'm responsible for the global market. Europe is not going to be easy," he said. "The 2.0-litre turbo engine for 280PS [206kW]… That cannot exist anymore based on the current regulation and future regulation." Whether Hyundai could keep the 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine of the i20 N alive with electrification is unclear. A version of this engine already features in hybrid crossover SUVs from the brand such as the Tucson and Santa Fe. Hyundai has never offered a hybrid N model. It now has three separate petrol-powered N models – the i20 N, i30 N, and i30 Sedan N/Elantra N/Avante N – as well as two electric ones in the Ioniq 5 N and the just-revealed Ioniq 6 N. The Korean automaker is planning a significant expansion in hybrid sales. Per a plan announced last August, it wants to sell 1.33 million hybrids annually by 2028, an increase over 40 per cent compared with its global sales plan from the previous year. To that end, it's launching a new 2.5-litre turbo hybrid powertrain that's debuting in the next-generation Palisade large SUV. Hyundai has already confirmed the i30 Sedan N will move to a 2.5-litre turbo four, up from a 2.0-litre. That appears to open up the possibility of hybrid power for that model, though the sports sedan has never been sold in Europe. In addition to conventional hybrids, Hyundai also offers plug-in hybrids (though none are sold here presently) and is rolling out extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs) that incorporate a petrol engine used as a generator. It's unclear whether Hyundai would develop N vehicles with this technology, or with a hydrogen fuel-cell powertrain like the retro-styled N Vision 74 concept. Development of Hyundai N vehicles is centred in Europe, along with the new Magma performance vehicle line for luxury brand Genesis. "There's been so much innovation at Rüsselsheim and some major investment. Our new building opened a couple of months ago, and it gives us so much more possibility, and allows us to develop EVs," Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Center managing director Tyrone Johnson told Car. "We're going to be developing our own products in Europe. All [Genesis] Magma products will be developed in Europe, for the world – nothing will be developed in Korea." Australia is a major market for Hyundai N vehicles. To that end, it's launching a new 2.5-litre turbo hybrid powertrain that's debuting in the next-generation Palisade large SUV. Hyundai has already confirmed the i30 Sedan N will move to a 2.5-litre turbo four, up from a 2.0-litre. That appears to open up the possibility of hybrid power for that model, though the sports sedan has never been sold in Europe. In addition to conventional hybrids, Hyundai also offers plug-in hybrids (though none are sold here presently) and is rolling out extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs) that incorporate a petrol engine used as a generator. It's unclear whether Hyundai would develop N vehicles with this technology, or with a hydrogen fuel-cell powertrain like the retro-styled N Vision 74 concept. Development of Hyundai N vehicles is centred in Europe, along with the new Magma performance vehicle line for luxury brand Genesis. "There's been so much innovation at Rüsselsheim and some major investment. Our new building opened a couple of months ago, and it gives us so much more possibility, and allows us to develop EVs," Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Center managing director Tyrone Johnson told Car. "We're going to be developing our own products in Europe. All [Genesis] Magma products will be developed in Europe, for the world – nothing will be developed in Korea." Australia is a major market for Hyundai N vehicles. While VFACTS industry sales reports bundle the i30 N with the rest of the i30 lineup, we know exactly how many i20 Ns are sold here because Hyundai doesn't offer any non-N i20 variants. To the end of June, Hyundai has delivered 723 examples of the i20 N in Australia this year. That's more than the Skoda Fabia (164) and Volkswagen Polo (401), both of which offer a wide range of variants.
