Grady Diangana transfer development after West Brom exit
Grady Diangana, the winger released by West Bromwich Albion at the end of last season, has reportedly been approached by Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Ettifaq. However, it's believed the player would rather remain in Europe than head to the Middle East – with supposed interest from his former Baggies boss Carlos Corberan. Advertisement His six-year stay at The Hawthorns came to an end in the summer. Having joined on an initial loan deal from West Ham United in 2019, the attacker agreed a five-year contract with the club after helping them seal promotion under Slaven Bilic in 2020. READ MORE: Championship clubs told to pay £1m for ex-Birmingham City wonderboy READ MORE: Birmingham City have created a new role for Lukas Jutkiewicz after retirement Diangana, who set Albion back an initial £12m, struggled for consistency and after Bilic's exit he failed to establish himself under Sam Allardyce but did return to something like his best form in spells over the last four campaigns. Advertisement Under Corberan, in 2023-24, Diangana was at his most fruitful. As Albion reached the play-offs he made 15 goal contributions in 36 Championship appearances. But last year Diangana's numbers were a little more modest. As a result, Albion decided against extending his stay and he's now on the look out for a new club. Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claims the 27-year-old has been contacted by Saudi outfit Al-Ettifaq, who finished seventh in the Pro League last year, offering a lucrative offer. But Diangana would rather remain in Europ, with suggestions that Corberan, who is working again with former Albion chief executive Ron Gourlay at Valencia, might take him to the La Liga club.

Mason will be leader that West Brom need
New West Bromwich Albion head coach Ryan Mason will be "the leader we need", said the club's sporting director Andrew 33, is settling into his first full-time management role at The Hawthorns after signing a three-year former Tottenham midfielder spent seven years on the coaching staff at Spurs and Nestor said that experience, Mason's character and vision for the future of the Baggies were key factors in making him "the right person for the job"."We went through a thorough and considerate approach," Nestor said."We wanted to ensure that we gave enough time to really evaluate a short, targeted list of candidates. "As a club, we're constantly evaluating talent, just like we would players. Last year we had developed a short targeted list of potential head coaches in case we would need to make a change, and Ryan has been on that list since the start." Mason the 'forward-thinking leader' The sudden departure of the popular Carlos Corberan to Valencia at Christmas had Albion scrambling for a replacement at a crucial time of last move to bring former boss Tony Mowbray back did not work, leaving James Morrison to oversee the last two games of the campaign with the club's Championship play-off hopes said changes in "timing and availability" brought Mason seriously into the frame."He has developed a lot of respect in the football industry and that's a reason he was on the list to begin with," Nestor told WBA TV."We feel like, given his experiences, his character and the discussions we've had around our vision for our club, he's the right person for the job."Mason, who won his only England cap in a friendly against Italy in 2015, had two spells in interim charge at Spurs and worked under Jose Mourinho, Antonio Conte and, most recently, Ange Postecoglou as the club won their first trophy for 17 years in the Europa also brings the experience of his playing career with him, despite that being cut short following a serious head injury suffered in a game against Chelsea in 2018."He's had an incredible football journey," Nestor said."As a player, he worked his way through the football pyramid, he established himself as a Premier League player and played for his country. "While he was in the Premier League he played under top managers such as Mauricio Pochettino, who Ryan has told me has really influenced how he sees his coaching philosophy and playing style today."As a coach, he's worked at different levels. He's worked in an elite academy, he's worked on individual player development for young players as well as world-class senior players. "He's really seemed to have taken all those learnings and developed it into his own style. "It's a clear, forward-thinking coaching philosophy that we feel fits very well. "We feel all that experience will enable him to be the leader that we need." 'He has seen the mentality top players and managers have' Mason has said he is ready to take on a head coach role and the move to Albion "feels a good fit".That sense of synergy is echoed by Nestor, who highlighted alignment in "broader sporting department functions" such as analytics, data-led recruitment and developing young players as further reasons why Mason was the right pick."I would say the other factor, which perhaps is the most important in the end, is character," Nestor said."Ryan has developed a very good reputation as a player and a coach. He's shown very strong and steady character. He's been under the spotlight, he's been working at a place where there's always external pressures and he's risen above that. "He really has developed his own style and own ideas about how he wants to take Albion forward. "We feel like there's really good alignment there. I also think there's an advantage where he's seen best in class. He's seen the type of mentality that top managers and top players have. "I believe he has that mentality, and my hope is that he can instil that mentality within our squad and organisation."

Jamie Vardy top target for LaLiga giants in shock free transfer after legend's Leicester exit aged 38
JAMIE VARDY could be lining up against Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid next season in LaLiga. SunSport can reveal Vardy is a top summer target for Valencia boss Carlos Corberan, who is keen to sign the 38-year-old Leicester City legend. The former West Brom boss wants to use Vardy's experience and believes he is still capable of scoring goals in Spain's top flight. Vardy scored 10 goals for relegated Leicester last season - nine of them in the Premier League. Corberan believes Vardy still has pace to burn and is ideally suited to his side's counter-attacking game. The Foxes icon bowed out at the top last Sunday when he scored his 200th goal for Leicester City on his 500th club appearance - 13 years to the day since he signed for £1million from Fleetwood Town. Vardy has made it clear he wants to stay in the Premier League but would also consider a lifestyle change, with Major League Soccer and a move to Saudi Arabia also under consideration. However Corberan has made his move early and hopes to persuade Vardy to give Spanish football a try before hanging up his boots. Corberan has worked miracles this season to transform the fortunes of the fallen Spanish giants. Valencia were joint bottom of La Liga on 12 points, four points from safety, when Corberan took over on Christmas Eve. But since being thrashed 7-1 by Barcelona on January 26, Corberan has turned their season around. He steered them to safety after putting together a run of eight wins, five draws and only one defeat in their next 14 games - with their only loss coming at the hands of Atletico Madrid. And if they beat Europa Conference League finalists Real Betis tomorrow night, they could move up to 10th in the 20-team league. Corberan has already sounded Vardy out about a move to La Mestalla as he looks for bargains to bolster his squad. Valencia are short on cash and signing Vardy on a free transfer represents good value for their money.

Valencia coach responds to controversy sparked by Vinicius' documentary – ‘I don't have TikTok'
The recent release of the Vinicius Jr. documentary has sparked controversy in Spain, with Valencia at the centre of a growing debate over the subtitles used in a key segment referencing racist abuse directed at the Real Madrid winger during a match at Mestalla. Valencia head coach Carlos Corberan has admitted that he has not seen the documentary or the viral clips circulating online, but confirmed that the club is actively considering how to respond to what they believe are inaccurate subtitles. What's the issue? The issue lies in a video shared on social media, where fans at Mestalla are heard shouting insults, but the subtitles allegedly misrepresent the words used. Advertisement In particular, the word 'idiot' is said to have been mistranslated as 'monkey', fuelling outrage and reinforcing the racism narrative. 'I don't have 'TikTok' and I haven't seen the documentary. I know the club is considering what to do. I understand that people are listening, not just reading. I'm focused on the game,' said the Valencia manager. Vinicius' documentary was released on May 15. (Photo by) The Valencia boss was quick to defend the reputation of the club's supporters. 'I know the Valencia CF fans very well and I know how respectful they are,' he said. 'They're one of the best fan bases in Spain, and watching a match at Mestalla is special, for Valencia and for any opponent. No one needs to tell me how respectful they are.' Words from Hugo Duro Valencia striker Hugo Duro echoed his manager's stance and took aim at the documentary's content. 'Anyone who has been to Mestalla, anyone who has seen a video, can see that 'idiot' is said,' he claimed. Advertisement 'I haven't seen the documentary myself, but I don't know why they'd subtitle it with something that wasn't said.' Duro also highlighted the fact that three individuals were identified and punished for racist conduct during that match last year, reinforcing that the matter was addressed properly by the club. 'Three idiots were punished the way they deserved, but that doesn't mean the rest of the fans deserve to be labelled as racists—especially when it's a lie and there are many videos that prove it.' ‘I know what club I signed for' – Daniel Farke breaks silence on sack rumours as Leeds boss says ‘it's not surprising'
DANIEL FARKE is unsurprised by claims Leeds are considering sacking him — despite securing Premier League promotion. The Whites sealed their top-flight return after two years out when they thumped Stoke 6-0 last Monday. 3 Yet despite his success, Leeds reportedly doubt boss Farke is the right man to lead them into the big time. The German's critics point to his record with Norwich — two Prem promotions and two immediate returns to the second tier. Asked if he felt disrespected, Farke said: 'Not at all, it's not surprising. 'I knew for which club I signed, I'm not sure how many managers Leeds had in the last 20 years, but it's a good effort if you last for three months. 'Once you sign a contract, there's lots of pressure, noise, expectations. 'On a weekly basis someone is linked. It's nothing new.' Leeds' US-based owners 49s Enterprises are not convinced the ex-Borussia Monchengladbach chief is the right man for 2025-26.. Supporters sang the 48-year-old's name amid promotion celebrations outside Elland Road on Monday night. 3 But Farke has failed to win over one section of Leeds fans. They were unhappy with his playing style, use of substitutes and, until recently, his faith in keeper Illan Meslier. Inside Leeds' wild promotion celebrations with thousands of fans greeting team and former Man Utd star on the mic Farke took the reins at Leeds last term following relegation and only missed out on a Prem spot when Southampton beat them in the play-off final. Now he's not just ensured a Prem spot, they top the Championship on goal difference. And victory in their final two games would mean 100 points. They host Bristol City on Monday then travel to bottom side Plymouth on May 3. However, Farke's win record in the top division stands at only 12%. If Leeds did take the controversial decision to replace him, there could be an attempt to lure back Spaniard Carlos Corberan, who was assistant boss under Marcelo Bielsa and had decent spells in charge of Huddersfield and West Brom. Three huge names have also been mentioned - Steven Gerrard, Patrick Vieira and Jose Mourinho. Leeds could hit 100 points this season if they win their final two matches - they currently have 94. If Farke is axed Leeds could try and lure Carlos Corberan back to the club - the Spaniard was assistant under Marcelo Bielsa and has had success in England with Huddersfield and West Brom.
