Nebraska commit named top high school quarterback

A future Nebraska quarterback has been one of Illinois' top high school quarterbacks. Class of 2027 commit Trae Taylor is one of the most sought-after players at his position, according to the Daily Herald. Taylor is entering his junior season at Carmel Catholic High School. He is the seventh overall quarterback in the 2027 class and the fourth overall player in his class from the state of Illinois, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. "What more can we say about the player at the top of the state's Class of 2027 rankings and near the top nationwide? After the hype that's built this offseason, Taylor (6-3, 180) and the Corsairs will draw crowds just to see him play. A whirlwind recruiting process ended in May when Taylor chose Nebraska over Illinois, LSU and Texas A&M." Last season, he threw for 3,061 yards, 20 touchdowns, and seven interceptions, per statistics from MaxPreps. He also carried the football 41 times for 342 yards and four touchdowns while leading Carmel Catholic High School to a 4-7 record. Iowa women's basketball offers standout 2029 Illinois PG Liv Johnson

Continuing on its efforts to secure the best talent of the future, Iowa women's basketball extended an offer to highly-touted 2029 Illinois point guard and combo guard Liv Johnson on Monday. The 6-foot-1 Johnson stars on the varsity squad at Carmel Catholic High School in Mundelein, Ill., and plays club basketball for the All Iowa Attack program, which also contains 2028 shooting guard prospect Kinsley Ketterhagen, who also earned an offer from the Hawkeyes on June 27. While the 2029 class is too early to have an established ranking, Johnson is regarded by Prep Girls Hoops as one of the top prospects in Illinois. Johnson received the offer after stopping by Iowa City for an unofficial visit, which now places the Hawkeyes among a growing list of powerful programs that have offered including Minnesota, Ohio State, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin. While Johnson will certainly get more attention as her recruiting journey continues, the Hawkeyes hope that their recent success in the past few seasons and reputation for developing top-tier talent will make Iowa a desired destination. Nebraska quarterback commit Trae Taylor to participate in Rivals Five-Star elite event

Nebraska quarterback commit Trae Taylor to participate in Rivals Five-Star elite event A Nebraska quarterback commit will compete in one of the top recruiting camps in the country later this month. Trae Taylor is confirmed to participate in the 2025 Rivals Five-Star elite event in Indianapolis on June 23 and 24. Taylor is the fifth overall quarterback in the 2027 class and the third overall player in his class from the state of Illinois, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. Last season, he threw for 3,061 yards, 20 touchdowns, and seven interceptions, per statistics from MaxPreps. He also carried the football 41 times for 342 yards and four touchdowns while leading Carmel Catholic High School to a 4-7 record. The 2025 Rivals Five-Star elite event will feature 104 high school football players gathering in Indianapolis at the Colts' practice facility. The two-day event will see a media day held on June 23, with the on-field competition taking place on June 24. Since committing to Nebraska back in May, Taylor has been active on social media, peer recruiting other top talent in the 2027 class. Now that all the talent is gathering in one place, it should provide Taylor with an excellent opportunity to make new connections and create opportunities for Nebraska's coaching staff to take advantage of in the future.
