Carnie Wilson seen for first time since death of dad Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys fame as she hugs her husband
Carnie Wilson put on a brave face as she was seen for the first time since the death of her father Brian Wilson at age 82. The Beach Boys band member passed away in mid June. The 57-year-old singer — who followed in her music icon dad's footsteps — stopped by a car dealership on Sunday. She was joined by her longtime husband, fellow singer Rob Bonfiglio, during the outing. At one point the couple warmly wrapped their arms around each other. Wilson, who shares daughters Luciana, 16, and Lola, 20, with Bonfiglio, wore cropped white cargo pants and a blue blouse. Beach Boys founder Brian, one of the most acclaimed and influential songwriters of the 20th century, died on June 11. The God Only Knows hitmaker rose to prominence as the frontman of the Beach Boys in the 60s. Last year, weeks after the death of his longtime wife Melinda, it was revealed that he had been diagnosed with a neurocognitive disorder similar to dementia. His seven children announced his death on his official Instagram page, alongside a recent photo. 'We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved father Brian Wilson has passed away. We are at a loss for words right now,' they wrote. The mourning brood added, 'Please respect our privacy at this time as our family is grieving. We realize that we are sharing our grief with the world. Love & Mercy.' One day later Carnie wrote on Instagram: 'I have no words to express the sadness I feel right now. My Father was every fiber of my body. 'He will be remembered by millions and millions until the world ends. I am lucky to have been his daughter and had a soul connection with him that will live on always.' The Wilson Phillips singer added, 'I've never felt this kind of pain before, but I know he's resting up there in heaven... or maybe playing the piano for Grandma Audree his Mom.' She concluded, 'I will post something else soon but this is all my hands will let me type. I love you Daddy....I miss so much you already.' On July 3 Carnie performed with her family at The Tribe's All-Star Tribute to the Beach Boys in Agoura Hills, California, calling it 'a total joy.' Wilson and her husband celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in late June, days after her devastating loss. She wrote online, '25 years my love... I knew you were the one when I saw your smile. You gave me the sweetest gift I've ever known... our girls. I love you baby @rob_bonfiglio now and forever! Happy Anniversary!' Rob shared a tribute of his own, writing on Instagram, '25 years, two beautiful children and a lifetime of adventures to go! I love you now and always!'

The Beach Boys' Brian Wilson's cause of death revealed
Brian Wilson's cause of death has been disclosed, two weeks after he died at 82. The Beach Boys co-founder passed away from 'respiratory arrest,' according to his death certificate obtained by TMZ June 26. Respiratory arrest occurs when the lungs stop functioning, but the heart is still beating, which prevents those affected from receiving oxygen, according to the American CPR Care Association. Sepsis and cystitis were also listed on the death certificate, per TMZ. Both are infection issues. Other associated factors reportedly included obstructive sleep apnoea, neurodegenerative disorder, chronic respiratory failure and chronic kidney disease. Wilson died June 11, the same day that his family announced his passing. 'We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved father Brian Wilson has passed away,' his family shared on Instagram. 'We are at a loss for words right now.' They asked for respect and privacy 'as our family is grieving.' Wilson's loved ones concluded, 'We realise that we are sharing our grief with the world.' The star's daughter, Carnie Wilson, spoke about his death one day later. 'I have no words to express the sadness I feel right now,' she wrote in her emotional message, posting a throwback image of herself with Brian and her sister, Wendy Wilson. Calling her father 'every fibre of my body,' Carnie said, 'He will be remembered by millions and millions until the world ends. I am lucky to have been his daughter and had a soul connection with him that will live on always.' John Stamos, who played the drums and guitar with the Beach Boys for 40 years, exclusively told The Post that he broke the news of Wilson's death to their bandmate Mike Love, who was not only a co-founder of the group but also Wilson's cousin. 'I was with Mike, I got off the plane, and I got the text,' the Full House star, 61, shared at the Songwriters Hall of Fame induction ceremony June 12. 'And we sat in the car for 2½ hours or so … he didn't say one word,' Stamos explained. 'And I didn't ask him anything, ask him how he was feeling. I knew how he was feeling.' He concluded: 'Without Brian Wilson, life would be a mistake. It's been a big blow to all of us.' The Beach Boys also released a statement about Wilson's passing, labelling him the 'soul' of their surf rock sound. 'The world mourns a genius today, and we grieve for the loss of our cousin, our friend, and our partner in a great musical adventure,' the band wrote in their tribute post. 'Brian Wilson wasn't just the heart of The Beach Boys — he was the soul of our sound. The melodies he dreamed up and the emotions he poured into every note changed the course of music forever.' Love addressed his cousin's passing in addition to The Beach Boys' statement, praising the two-time Grammy winner's undeniable talent. 'From the first time we sang together as kids in my living room, I knew there was something otherworldly in him,' Love posted along with a video montage of the late star. 'His musical gifts were unmatched. The melodies he dreamed up, the emotions he poured into every note — Brian changed the course of music forever.' In February 2024, his family revealed that the In My Room singer was suffering from dementia and had been placed under conservatorship after his wife, Melinda Ledbetter, died in January 2024 at 77. The Beach Boys were founded in Hawthorne, California, in 1961 by brothers Brian, Carl, and Dennis Wilson, their cousin Love, and school friend Al Jardine, per the band's website. Wilson quit touring with the band in 1964 after he suffered a panic attack during a flight to Houston. This caused him to shift his duties to composing, creating summer classics like Good Vibrations, Wouldn't It Be Nice and God Only Knows. Wilson released his first solo album in 1988, although he remained an on-and-off member of the group for decades. The Beach Boys' creative leader struggled with his mental health and substance abuse throughout his career. He was even diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, which involves hallucinations, depression and paranoia in his later years.

John Stamos Pens Heartbreaking Tribute to Beach Boys' Brian Wilson Following Death
John Stamos Pens Heartbreaking Tribute to Beach Boys' Brian Wilson Following Death originally appeared on Parade. John Stamos delivered a heartbreaking tribute to Beach Boys' following his death at 82. Taking to his Instagram, the former Full House actor began, "Brian Wilson didn't just soundtrack my life…he filled it with color, with wonder, with some of the most unforgettable, emotional, joyful moments I've ever known." "It's hard to put into words what it meant to stand beside him, laugh with him, play his music with him. Brian wasn't just a musical genius, he was a gentle, soulful, funny, complex, beautiful man. He heard things no one else could hear. He felt things deeper than most of us ever will. And somehow, he turned all of that into music that wrapped itself around the world and made us all feel less alone," he continued. "I grew up worshipping the Beach Boys, never imagining one day I'd get to play with them, let alone call Brian a friend," he stated, reflecting on Wilson's contributions, he added, "Songs that didn't just play in the background of our lives, they shaped who we were. They shaped who I became. His music made me feel things I didn't know how to say. It made me want to make people feel the way his music made me feel. So much of my life and career, so much of me, exists because of what Brian created." "To Carnie, Wendy, the lovely Marilyn, to everyone who loved him, and especially to Mike. My heart is with you. Brian once said, 'Music is God's voice.' I believe he was right, and now that voice, his voice, is part of the divine chorus. The music didn't end." He concluded, adding, "Rest easy, Brian. Thank you for the music. Thank you for the moments. I'll carry them with me -forever. Love Stamos." The musician's children shared the news on Instagram on June 11, writing, "We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved father Brian Wilson has passed away." Wilson, who was just shy of his 83rd birthday on June 20, had a series of health issues, including "auditory hallucinations," "multiple back surgeries and deafness," along with a dementia diagnosis in February 2024. He co-founded the iconic California band in 1961, releasing a string of sunny hits like "Wouldn't It Be Nice," "Good Vibrations," and "Surfin' U.S.A." Stamos's connection to the rock band dates all the way back to the '80s when he was an up-and-coming soap star who was offered a chance to play on the drums during "Barbara Ann," with their musical relationship continuing into the beloved family sitcom fold. With so many appearances alongside the band, Stamos is considered an honorary member, even taking the stage to sit on the drums and guitar for the group's upcoming summer tour, "The Sounds Of Summer Tour," which is being teased as the "40th anniversary" of his first performance. During a chat with Vulture last year, the actor best known as Uncle Jesse reflected on being "extremely intimidated by" Wilson. "When I came out the first few times to play, I remember Brian looking at me, and Carl was like, 'He's cool.' Then Brian took a liking to me. We did these shows in the summer and it was during a time when Mike was away in India. They had some deal on their contract where it had to be four or five original members or something, so Brian came out." 🎬SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox🎬 John Stamos Pens Heartbreaking Tribute to Beach Boys' Brian Wilson Following Death first appeared on Parade on Jun 11, 2025 This story was originally reported by Parade on Jun 11, 2025, where it first appeared.

Carnie Wilson breaks silence on dad Brian Wilson's death after his devastating health battle
Brian Wilson's daughter Carnie Wilson is speaking out following the death of the music star at 82 after a battle with dementia. 'I have no words to express the sadness I feel right now,' Carnie, 57, told 204,000 followers on Instagram Wednesday evening. 'My Father was every fiber of my body. 'He will be remembered by millions and millions until the world ends. I am lucky to have been his daughter and had a soul connection with him that will live on always.' The Wilson Phillips singer added, 'I've never felt this kind of pain before, but I know he's resting up there in heaven ... or maybe playing the piano for Grandma Audree his Mom.' The Hold On songstress wrapped up in saying, 'I will post something else soon but this is all my hands will let me type. I love you Daddy....I miss so much you already.' Carnie, a member of the musical trio with sister Wendy Wilson, 55, and Chynna Phillips Baldwin, said a year ago her dad had been 'well taken care of' as he reflected on his incredible life and career in music. Carnie spoke with People in April 2024 about how her father was doing in his dementia battle, in addition to the conservatorship he was placed in, months after the January 2024 death of his spouse Melinda Ledbetter at 77. 'He's living in so much gratitude right now that he got to tour all these years,' Carnie said. 'We are a very big part of his life, helping monitor his health, helping them make sure that every day, he's cared for.' Carnie spoke out as Beach Boys co-founder Al Jardine paid memorial to his late friend and colleague. 'Brian Wilson, my friend, my classmate, my football teammate, my Beach Boy bandmate and my brother in spirit, I will always feel blessed that you were in our lives for as long as you were,' Jardine said in a statement. Wilson's passing came after a tragic health battle that saw the musical icon behind hits such as California Girls, Good Vibrations and Wouldn't It Be Nice living with dementia. Jardine referenced Wilson's late brothers and Beach Boys bandmates Carl and Dennis, who died respectively in 1998 and 1983. 'I think the most comforting thought right now is that you are reunited with Carl and Dennis, singing those beautiful harmonies again,' Jardine said. Jardine wrapped up with warm words for the iconic singer-songwriter, saying, 'You were a humble giant who always made me laugh and we will celebrate your music forever.' Jardine referenced the group's 1964 track The Warmth Of The Sun, saying, 'Brian, I'll really miss you…still I have the warmth of the sun within me tonight.' Wilson and Jardine initially crossed paths playing high school football with one another at Hawthorne High School in Hawthorne, California. Jardine played the position of fullback, while Brian – in a possible harbinger to his future leadership in The Beach Boys – was a quarterback. Brian also played baseball and was a cross-country runner during his time in high school, according to his website. They continued their friendship as classmates at El Camino College in Torrance, California. It was there they started exploring their musical aspirations, as Jardine was into folk music, Wilson believed rock 'n' roll was the wave of the future. Wilson eventually asked Jardine to come into the group in the early 60s, and the pals would be seen more than 50 years later continuing to hang out and perform. Jardine was comforted by a number of his followers amid the sad life event. One wrote to the musician: 'You're a beautiful human being Mr Jardine, I'm sorry for your great loss.' Another added, 'Truly sorry for your loss, Al, I can't even imagine how it feels. We will love and cherish Brian's music forever. Said one user: 'I'm so sorry for your loss Al ... Brian was the greatest gift from god. He will be sorely missed.' One user advise the grieving Jardine, 'Listen for the harmonies in the breezes tonight,' adding, 'We love you Al.' Said one user: 'Deepest condolences to you, Al and rest in eternal peace to all the Wilson brothers. Goodbyes are so difficult. At least they are together again.'
