Adopt a furry friend at Furever Friends adoption drive
KUALA LUMPUR: Animal lovers in the Klang Valley looking to open their homes to a cat companion are invited to the Furever Friends Cat Adoption Drive happening on July 20 at Pavilion Damansara Heights. The event, which runs from 1pm to 6pm, is part of the Furever Friends campaign organised by SAYS, JUICE, Fly FM and Lumi News. It is held in conjunction with TV3's Cat Fashion Week and aims to promote animal welfare by encouraging adoption over buying. All cats featured at the event are under the care of Pads & Paws KL, a local rescue group that rehabilitates and fosters abandoned and stray animals. Many of the cats available have been rescued from the streets or surrendered by previous owners and are now looking for a second chance at a loving home. The adoption process is straightforward. Interested adopters can scan a QR code at the venue to fill in a short form. Upon approval, they will pay an adoption fee — RM150 per cat or RM250 for a pair — and sign a contract before taking their new pet home. A refundable deposit of RM100 per kitten will also be collected, to be returned once proof of spaying or neutering is provided. Older kittens have already undergone the procedure. Adopters are reminded to bring their own pet carriers. If one is not available, Pads & Paws KL can temporarily hold the cat until the adopter returns with a carrier. TV3's Cat Fashion Week offers various family-friendly activities including a feline catwalk, face painting and a photo booth. The campaign will culminate in Malaysia's first televised cat fashion competition, with the grand finale airing on TV3 at 9pm on Aug 17.

Our Malaysian cats are roaring ... The top eight finalists for Cat Fashion Week have been finalised
It's official ...The Top Eight Cat Fashion Week list was officially announced through a special segment on the NONA program last week. As the first reality programme in Malaysia to put the feline as the main star of the show, Cat Fashion Week is not just a fashion event, it celebrates the character, charm, and special relationship between owners and their pets. This unique concept not only touches the heart but also brings the cat lover community together across the country. From hundreds of entries received, only 20 cats were selected for the pre-judging round that day to showcase their respective styles inspired by their owners' creativity. In a meticulous judging session, judge Yuen Wai explained, 'It's called Cat Fashion Week, so one of the main criteria we will judge is the clothes the cats wear, and also when we have a fashion show, we will also udge the cat's beauty. "These two things are quite important in our evaluation. If the cat is beautiful no matter what, but if she's not confident, she's afraid, so she doesn't wear that outfit. The compatibility of the cat with the owner is also important. We want to find a winner who is balanced.' Here are the Top 8 who will compete on the catwalk at Cat Fashion Week: 1. Nurul Izzah & Omey (Male, Siberian); 2. Nurul Awwal & Chibu (Male, Domestic Long Hair); 3. Nurmayani & Kristoff (Male, Ragdoll); 4. Siti Rohani & Goyem (Male, Domestic Long Hair); 5. Farahin Zakaria & Junny (Female, Persian); 6. Zakry Shazryl & Winter Notty (Male, Munchkin); 7. Anis Halyatie & Evian Evan (Male, Ragdoll); 8. Siti Khadijah & Mocha (Female, Domestic Long Hair) The finale is now approaching and the eight finalists are now entering an intensive preparation phase, from designing their outfits to building their harmony and confidence on the catwalk. Last Sunday's episode of NONA also featured one of the Top 8 finalists, Mocha, a Domestic Long Hair female cat who loves to be petted like a little child. According to her owner, Siti Khadijah, "I have fully taken care of Mocha since she was a little girl until now, she is 4 years old. My sister gave her to me as a gift... and I entered Cat Fashion Week just for fun, I just wanted to try it once, at least we can have an experience and a sweet moment together." Mocha, who is spoiled at home but fierce outside, also likes to be in high places and walk in the park, making her one of the most outstanding participants in the eyes of the judges. Follow the exciting story of the next finalist in a special segment of Cat Fashion Week through the NONA program, every Sunday at 2 pm, only on TV3. Starting July 27, 2025, viewers will also be treated to an exclusive capsule that will air every Sunday, at 7.50pm, for three consecutive weeks, showcasing the challenges and journey behind the scenes of Cat Fashion Week. Furry friends become celebrities: Malaysian cats are now television fashion icons
SHAH ALAM: Does your cat have an extraordinary style that can steal the attention of the camera lens and the hearts of the judges ... Welcome to Malaysia's Cat Fashion Week and it is not just an ordinary competition — it is a celebration of style, love and unique expressions in the world of cat fashion that has never been witnessed on Malaysian TV. For the first time, Malaysia free-tv channel, TV3, is organising the first cat competition program, elevating the furry cutie to the level of runway celebrity. Now, the dream of seeing your beloved cat walk confidently on the catwalk and become the country's official fashion icon has come true. This is a golden opportunity — not only to be stylish, but to become a real star in the Malaysian entertainment world! The studio atmosphere transformed into the most stylish and cute stage when the curtain of Cat Fashion Week opened through the pre-judging session or the highly anticipated semi-final round. A total of 20 of the most fashionable cats, complete with their own unique styles and charismatic owners, appeared to display extraordinary fashion to win a place in the top eight finalists. With their own unique confidence and cat-titude, each pair of cats and their owners battled to book their tickets to the finals of Cat Fashion Week. Early in the judging process, the studio atmosphere was filled with excitement and anticipation, not only from the owners, but also from the cats who seemed to understand the situation. Some sat calmly and stylishly, some were nervous and shy, and some were even wandering around the set as if they were already familiar with the catwalk. In the sea of meows, fluff and couture sparkle typical of the cute ones, the owners' faces were still filled with excitement. However, they were still ready, delivering their own narratives about the stories and inspirations behind the styles chosen for their respective 'meow-dels', before stepping onto the catwalk and performing cute acts according to the theme highlighted. Each one's uniqueness was evident not only through their appearance, but also through their expressions and styles on stage — some were graceful and confident, while others were unpretentious but still captivated the judges with their own authenticity and aura. "Meow Menyala, Gaya Membara!" was not just a tagline — it was truly translated throughout the pre-judging session last Sunday. The judges were patient and relaxed yet focused; giving each cat the opportunity to showcase their unique personalities. Cat Fashion Week is truly a show full of emotion and uniqueness. From grooming, glamorous accessories, to the loving interactions between cats and their owners, everything will be displayed in an entertaining visual form. From over 100 online entries submitted at the end of last year, only 20 cats were selected for this pre-judging stage. Each participant showed off their unique style and charm with their respective owners in front of four great judges, namely Dr Ima (Dr Salehahtul Khuzaimah), a veterinarian with expertise in caring for small and exotic pets; Johan & His Cats, a digital content creator known as the King of Cats Malaysia; Yuen Wai, the Malaysian jury representative under The Federation International Feline (FIFe); and Mark Adam, a singer, actor and cat lover. The judging session was also strengthened by the presence of Khalid Rashid, or better known as Pak Khalid, who acted as the jury advisor. In recognition of the style, effort and uniqueness of each participant and their cat, Cat Fashion Week is offering generous rewards to the winners at the final stage. The grand champion will take home RM5,000 in cash, followed by RM3,000 for the runner-up, and RM2,000 for third place. Not to be outdone, the participants who made it to the Top 8 will also receive a consolation prize of RM1,000 each. Adding to the special features of this year's event, Cat Fashion Week is also introducing the Felix, Si Bijak and Si Lincah Awards, an exclusive tribute to cats who truly stand out in terms of style and natural charm.
