Pheobe Bishop's aunty lashes out at the dead teenager's family just hours before her funeral
Pheobe Bishop's family is holding a private funeral on Monday, as the teen's aunty lashes out for being barred from the event. The 17-year-old went missing near Bundaberg Airport about 8.30am on May 15, after booking a trip to WA to visit her boyfriend. Earlier this month, police discovered Pheobe's remains near Goodnight Scrub National Park. Her former housemates, 33-year-old Tanika Bromley and 34-year-old James Wood, were charged with her murder and are being held in jail on remand while they await their next court appearance. Neither have entered pleas. At 2pm on a rainy day in Bundaberg, Pheobe's family, including mum Kylie Johnson and sister Kaylea Bishop, will give the teen a send-off before a private cremation at the Springfields Crematorium. Pheobe's funeral notice described her as the 'beloved daughter of Kylie and Ray, Kevin and Stacey. Dearly loved sister of Jamie, Jesse, Kaylea, Ruby-Leigh, Aybel and sister-in-law to Janay. Loving aunty to Tallullah. Much loved niece, cousin and friend to many'. Ms Johnson said she was 'devastated' to farewell her daughter. 'This is absolutely everybody's worst nightmare, however, we promised to get Phee home and give her a send-off that Phee would approve of and that's what will happen,' she said in a statement. Meanwhile, Pheobe's maternal auntie Caz Johnson took to social media on Monday to point out that she had not been invited to the funeral. 'It was nice to say goodbye to Pheobe my own way, since I was asked, please don't go to the funeral to keep the peace,' Caz said. 'It makes my blood boil that people from South Windsor (are) driving up to attend Pheobe's funeral when they couldn't be there to help her when she needed it, but now they want to act like they cared.' Caz and Pheobe's mother have frequently butted heads in public since the teen's disappearance in May. It began when Caz went on Network Ten's The Project to share disturbing texts from the teen sent before she went missing, and make allegations about her tumultuous upbringing. She revealed Pheobe sent text messages out of the blue on April 26 to say her mother had told her to 'get out', but didn't want to talk about the matter as it was 'a long story'. 'Up s*** creek but s*** happens,' Pheobe wrote, in texts shown on Ten. 'I'm flying the f*** out of here to see my boyfriend. 'If it goes to plan I'm not coming back. I can't do s*** anymore. I need to get out of this hell hole.' Caz Johnson also said that Pheobe had an unsettled childhood, regularly changing schools and having to deal with new stepdads coming in and out of her life. But Pheobe's mother reacted immediately on social media after The Project segment aired, saying her sister knew 'nothing' about her daughter. Caz Johnson 'hasn't spoken to my children or myself for the last 13-14 years', she wrote. 'She knows nothing about Pheobe and who she was as a person.' The pair later clashed earlier this month over whether or not Pheobe had a disability. 'Pheobe had no disabilities but (was) a child who was out of control that had no parent figure who paid an (alleged) killer to look after her,' Caz wrote in one scathing post. 'Please refrain from referencing my daughter as your family, she may be blood related however you know nothing about her,' Ms Johnson replied. 'You state Phee Phee had no disability? Where is your evidence? Where are your Professional reports or better yet your qualifications to state that she didn't have a disability? Oh wait you wouldn't know because you didn't know her!' Before she disappeared, Pheobe made reference on social media to borderline personality disorder (BPD). Ms Johnson did not specify what Pheobe's disability was. However, before she disappeared, the teen had shared a post to TikTok about borderline personality disorder. 'Having a partner with bpd (borderline personality disorder) means... getting blocked or left over small incidents... they will say very harsh things they don't mean when having an episode,' the post said, apparently in an attempt to explain her sometimes unpredictable behaviour. Ms Johnson previously said Pheobe 'didn't fit the mainstream school model' and struggled with her education until she was enrolled at the alternative Y School in Bundaberg.

‘Lies': Pheobe Bishop family feud erupts over aunt's claim about teen's disability
The mother of a Queensland teenager allegedly murdered by her two adult housemates has accused her own sister of creating a 'circus' with comments about the girl's disability and living arrangements. The shocking family feud erupted on social media this week after Pheobe Bishop's aunt, Caz Johnson, publicly questioned claims that the 17-year-old had a disability and questioned how she came to be living in the squalid Gin Gin home with her alleged murderers. Police allege Pheobe was killed on May 15 by her housemates Tanika Bromley, 33, and James Wood, 34, soon after being spotted in CCTV on Airport Drive, Kensington, near Bundaberg. It will be alleged in court that Ms Bromley and Mr Wood were responsible for the teen's death and moved her body twice — once on May 15 and again two days later. Remains believed to be that of Pheobe were found at Good Night Scrub National Park on June 6. The pair were charged with murder and two counts of interfering with a corpse earlier this month after an investigation into Pheobe's disappearance. Writing on Facebook over the weekend, Caz Johnson said she was speaking as 'the aunty by blood' and asked, 'Who payed [sic] for all the flyers?' 'Not Kylie but NDIS, Pheobe had no disabilities but [was] a child who was out of control,' she wrote. Facebook posts from 2024 by Pheobe — looking for work in the area — and her sister seeking a rental for the pair, had suggested they were both disability support workers through the NDIS, and that Pheobe also earned an income as an NDIS cleaner. 'Even cleaners for NDIS, elderly, disability need to have all the same checks/cards and being 15/16 at the time no way would be able to get them except [for] a police check as [an] adult can sign for it,' Caz Johnson wrote. 'The truth always comes out.' Pheobe's grieving mother, Kylie Johnson, shared screenshots of her sister's comments on Monday in a furious post. 'I'm sorry but blood doesn't make you family,' she wrote. 'Showing up, being present and unconditional love makes you family. Please refrain from referencing my daughter as YOUR FAMILY, she may be blood related however YOU know nothing about her. YOU state Phee Phee had no disability? Where is your evidence? Where are your professional reports or better yet your qualifications to state that she didn't have a disability? Oh wait you wouldn't know because you didn't KNOW HER!' She added that that her 'estranged sister' would reflect 'on her current behaviour to desist the circus she is creating'. 'The world is mourning with you, but this needs to be dealt with privately,' one supporter wrote. 'Don't lose sight of the big picture (Pheobe and getting justice) over defending things that take up too much mental space right now.' Another said, 'My heart breaks for Pheobe. A complicated backstory that has unfortunately put her in a place of danger.' Court documents last week revealed police will allege Pheobe died close to where she was seen last carrying luggage to the local airport on the day she was due to fly out to meet her boyfriend in Western Australia. Her phone last pinged near Bundaberg Airport and was fully charged before it was allegedly turned off manually. Police allege the teen was in a car with her housemates on the way to the airport but never arrived. 'Our investigation will detail the facts that we believe Pheobe was murdered and then her body was moved,' Detective Inspector Craig Mansfield said. 'We will allege that Pheobe was moved more than once.' Neither accused appeared when their cases were mentioned before Bundaberg Magistrates Court on June 6 and no pleas have been entered. The matters were adjourned to August 11. Meanwhile, the shocking state of the home where Pheobe lived with the pair was also revealed last week. News cameras were allowed inside the Gin Gin property, four hours north of Brisbane, just days after Ms Bromley and Mr Wood were charged. 'I can't prepare you enough for this,' the landlord, who was not named, told 7News as he unlocked the door. Rubbish, food scraps, empty bottles, clothing and even dog poo littered the floors of the old Queenslander-style home. Dilapidated furniture and what appeared to be stained bedding were also strewn around the home. 'This was originally our bedroom,' the landlord told 7News while showing them through the property. 'The air tastes dirty … I don't know how people can be breathing this.' Ms Bromley took out the lease six months ago but had been given notice to leave after a recent inspection, 7News reported.

Bitter rift erupts in missing teen Pheobe Bishop's family after bombshell revelations from her aunt
Pheobe Bishop's family has hit back at her aunt who went on TV to share disturbing texts from the missing teen, and blasted her claims about the youngster's upbringing. Caz Johnson - sister of Pheobe's mum Kylie Johnson - made her allegations about the 17-year-old's tumultuous family life on Ten's The Project on Wednesday. Pheobe was last seen on May 15 leaving the rundown share house she shared with housemates James Wood and Tanika Bromley in Gin Gin, near Bundaberg. The pair have since been charged with unrelated weapons offences. No charges have been laid over Pheobe's disappearance and Daily Mail Australia does not suggest Mr Wood and Ms Bromley were involved in her disappearance. Her aunt revealed Pheobe texted out of the blue on April 26 to say her mother Kylie Johnson had told her to 'get out' but didn't want to talk about the matter as it was a long story. 'Up s*** creek but s*** happens,' Pheobe wrote, in the texts shown on Ten. 'I'm flying the f*** out of here to see my boyfriend. 'If it goes to plan I'm not coming back. I can't do s*** anymore. I need to get out of this hell hole.' Caz Johnson also told The Project host Waleed Aly that Pheobe had an unsettled childhood, regularly changing schools and having to deal with new stepdads coming in and out of her life. But Pheobe's mum Kylie Johnson reacted immediately on social media after The Project segment aired, saying her sister knew 'nothing' about Pheobe. Caz Johnson 'hasn't spoken to my children or myself for the last 13-14 years,' she wrote. 'She knows nothing about Pheobe and who she was as a person,' she added. 'I'm seriously so disappointed in the media, they are supposed to be providing the community and Australia correct information.' Pheobe's sister Kaylea Bishop also blasted her aunt's claims on social media. 'We didn't have stepdads coming in and out of our life,' she wrote. 'We weren't constantly moving to and from NSW, and last of all our mother has never once used her mental health as a reason to NOT be a mother like YOU have. 'You know NOTHING about my sister, nor brothers and you're only running my mother into the ground because you were proven not fit as a parent BY THE COURT for custody over a young man who by the way is thriving all THANKS TO OUR MOTHER!' In Caz Johnson's interview, Aly had asked the aunt whether the messages from Pheobe initially raised any red flags. Caz Johnson recalled being baffled as she hadn't heard from her niece so long. 'I'm like, why, why all of a sudden something must have happened, why are you getting in contact now?' she said. 'Because it's been so long that I've spoken to her, and she doesn't say why she actually wanted to talk. It was just strange. 'I was more puzzled at the start then when the conversation got more into it, it was like something's really happening. 'Because Kylie would never stop talking to her kids or kick her kids out. 'Then all of a sudden, she (Pheobe) had to get out. She had no one to talk to, turn to.' Ms Johnson admitted that she was estranged from her sister Kylie. She described her niece Pheobe as a 'loudmouth' who 'has to have things her way'. 'She was always moving from Queensland to NSW and backwards and forwards,' the aunt said. 'She was always changing schools. She had so many different stepdads in and out of her life. She never had no one that she could really speak to. 'They grew up in filth. I have no disrespect for anyone because I grew up in housing commission, but they lived like a typical housing commission family.' Aly asked Ms Johnson the question on most Australians' minds: 'Do you think police are going to find Pheobe?' 'Honestly, I don't know, but I'm certain she won't be found alive,' Ms Johnson said. 'It's sad to say, but I'm just being honest. 'They wouldn't call it a homicide if it wasn't to do with foul play or something else.' Pheobe's housemates have told detectives they drove her to Bundaberg Airport for an 8.30am flight to Brisbane and then on to Perth, where she planned to meet up with her boyfriend. They claimed to have dropped the teen off at the airport in Bromley's 2011 silver Hyundai ix35 hatchback. No CCTV of her at the airport has been found. Police launched an intense search for Pheobe in a nearby bushland area, scouring it for several days with cadaver dogs - but on Wednesday, cops confirmed they had suspended the search. 'The search at the Good Night Scrub National Park has been suspended... Investigations are ongoing and police are continuing to run out several lines of inquiry,' a police spokesperson said. 'In addition to investigative work, physical searches will continue as needed and as information is provided. 'The greater Gin Gin area remains the focus of the investigation.' Forensic experts have also poured over the Hyundai and the home in Gin Gin with both declared as crime scenes. Police revealed on Wednesday night that Wood, 34, was charged with unrelated weapons offences, one day after Bromley was bailed on similar charges. 'Police have charged a man with weapons offences, after police allegedly located a shortened firearm and ammunition during a search of a grey Hyundai ix35 and a Gin Gin home, both of which had been declared crime scenes for an unrelated matter,' a spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia. Wood was charged with one count each of unlawful possession of weapons Category D/H/R (short firearm) and authority to possess explosives. Wood was issued with a notice to appear before Bundaberg Magistrates Court on June 13. Wood's partner Tanika Bromley has also been charged with unrelated alleged offences over weapons located in the car. She arrived at Gin Gin police station for a check-in as part of her bail conditions for her firearms charges on Wednesday. Hooded Bromley entered the station through a back entrance, with two police officers appearing to assist her in getting in and out of the station.

Sad texts from Pheobe Bishop before disappearance revealed
Pheobe Bishop's aunt has revealed a series of worrying text messages she received from her 17-year-old niece before she vanished, adding she believes the teenager 'won't be found alive'. Caz Johnson, Pheobe's mother's sister, appeared on The Project on Wednesday. Pheobe was last seen on May 16 at a property she rented with housemates James Wood and Takina Bromley, in Gin Gin, near Bundaberg in Queensland. She had planned to fly to Western Australia to visit her boyfriend. She never arrived at the airport. Her housemates have since been charged with unrelated weapons offences. No charges have been laid over Pheobe's disappearance. It is not suggested Mr Wood and Ms Bromley are involved in the disappearance. Pheobe texted her aunt Ms Johnson on April 26, after not speaking for a period of time, to say her mother Kylie Johnson had told her to 'get out' when the teenager asked to live with her dad. 'Up s**t creek but s**t happens,' Pheobe texted her aunt. 'I'm flying the f**k out of here to see my boyfriend. 'If it goes to plan I'm not coming back … I need to get out of this hell hole.' When The Project host Waleed Aly asked if the messages concerned her, Ms Johnson said she was 'puzzled'. 'It was like something's really happening,' Ms Johnson said. 'All of a sudden, she (Pheobe) had to get out. She had no one to talk to, turn to.' Ms Johnson, who is estranged from her sister Kylie, said Pheobe had a tough childhood. 'She was always changing schools. She had so many different stepdads in and out of her life. She never had no one that she could really speak to. 'They grew up in filth. I have no disrespect for anyone because I grew up in housing commission, but they lived like a typical housing commission family.' When pressed on concerns for Pheobe, Ms Johnson said she feared the worst. Aly asked: 'Do you think police are going to find Pheobe?' 'Honestly, I don't know, but I'm certain she won't be found alive,' Ms Johnson said. The teen was last seen on May 15, travelling towards Bundaberg airport, however, she failed to board the plane and has not been seen since. Police began their search of the national park on May 23, and expanded the operation after they found evidence may have been moved from the Good Night Scrub area prior to their arrival. Some items of interest have been located during the search and will undergo forensic examination. Police said on Wednesday the investigation was 'ongoing' and that 'police are continuing to run out several lines of inquiry'. 'In addition to investigative work, physical searches will continue as needed and as information is provided,' a spokesman said. 'The greater Gin Gin area remains the focus of the investigation.'
