Relief as Pretoria woman and dog found safe after 5-day search
There is relief across Pretoria and beyond as Celeste van Aswegen and her dog, Shadow, have been found safe, bringing an end to a tense five-day search. According to Pretoria Rekord, it is believed she was found last night at a lodge in KZN. Celeste was reported missing on Saturday after last being seen near Menlyn Shopping Centre on Atterbury Road, driving a grey Volkswagen Amarok. She and her dog, Shadow, had not been seen or heard from since, sparking widespread concern and a co-ordinated search effort involving family, friends, the public, and private investigator Mike Bolhuis. Family members confirmed that both Van Aswegen and Shadow have been located and are safe. Details surrounding their whereabouts during the missing period have not yet been made public. Finally, provide a short summary of the circumstances surrounding their disappearance – for example, their destination, who they were with, or any unusual behaviour prior to going missing. Sharing complete and accurate information from the start can make a vital difference in locating a missing person quickly and safely. Pretoria woman and her dog still missing Concern is mounting as Celeste van Aswegen, a Pretoria woman, remains missing days after she was last seen in Garsfontein on 21 June 2025. Celeste was reportedly en route to Lanseria after visiting her ex-husband when she disappeared. She was driving a 2014 sea-grey Volkswagen Amarok double-cab bakkie, registration number DD86HXGP. Her beloved black dog, Shadow, was also with her in the vehicle. She was last seen wearing pale casual pants and a short-sleeved shirt. Despite growing community efforts and involvement from Renegades Search and Rescue, there has been no confirmed sighting of her since that day. A missing person case has been opened with the Garsfontein SAPS, and police are urging anyone with information—no matter how small—to come forward.
