Police officer injured after collision in St. Thomas
A police officer was seriously injured following a collision on Highway 3.
Police say around 10:45 a.m. on Sunday, an officer pulled over a suspicious vehicle traveling on the highway. While the officer investigated, the driver fled and struck the officer.
The officer was brought to the hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.
According to police, the driver of the vehicle was later found at a home and taken into custody without incident.
The highway was closed in both directions from Centennial Avenue to First Avenue, but has since reopened.
