New Delhi: The Ministry of Education, in partnership with the Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) division of the Central Sanskrit University, has launched the Setubandha Scholar Scheme - a major initiative aimed at integrating Gurukul-trained students into mainstream academia. The scheme will enable meritorious students from traditional Indian education systems to pursue formal postgraduate and PhD degrees, including at leading institutions like the IITs. Selected scholars will receive monthly scholarships starting from Rs 40,000. Postgraduate students will be eligible for scholarships of up to Rs 1 lakh, while PhD candidates may receive up to Rs 2 lakh. All degrees will be conferred by the Central Sanskrit University. According to Professor Srinivasa Varkhedi, Vice-Chancellor of Central Sanskrit University, this scheme will serve as a bridge between the ancient Gurukul tradition and modern research. Sanskrit Universities to link up via shared digital library
Central Sanskrit University (CSU) NEW DELHI: In a move set to transform access to Sanskrit manuscripts and research, the Central Sanskrit University (CSU), New Delhi, has announced plans to develop a shared digital library platform linking Sanskrit universities and institutions across India. This initiative, officials said, will significantly advance the government's flagship Digital India campaign while preserving and disseminating the country's rich knowledge traditions. The decision was taken at the second meeting of CSU's central library committee held at the university's headquarters in Janakpuri. CSU vice chancellor professor. Srinivas Varakhedi, who chaired the meeting, said the digital platform would ensure seamless access to critical Sanskrit texts, manuscripts, and research materials from a single location. 'The CSU library is playing a significant role in Sanskrit literature, research and education. This shared digital library will safeguard and disseminate the digital heritage of Indian culture and knowledge, while also fulfilling the vision of a digitally empowered India,' he said. The Sanskrit Library Network and Sanskrit Libraries Consortium will manage the operations of the platform. CSU, Italian academy ink pact for Greek, Latin studies
Jaipur: Students studying at Central Sanskrit University (CSU) will now be able to learn Greek and Latin along with their course at the Jaipur campus of the university. The university signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Italy's Accademia Vivarium Novum to promote academic cooperation. Under the agreement, Sanskrit students will have the opportunity to learn Greek and Latin and receive training in Italy. Sanskrit institution in Tiruchi announces admission for 2025-26
The Samskrita Surabhi Samskrita Bhasha Prachara Kendram in Tiruchi, an off-campus institution affiliated with Central Sanskrit University, New Delhi, has announced admissions for the academic year 2025-26. The institution invites students and Sanskrit enthusiasts to enroll in a wide range of Sanskrit courses aimed at promoting and preserving the ancient language among school students and the general public. The Kendram offers exclusive Sanskrit courses for CBSE schoolchildren from Classes VI to XII. The school-based programmes are Prathama (for 6th–8th std), Purva Madhyama (for 9th & 10th Std), and Prak Sastri (for 11th & 12th std). These programmes, conducted within school hours, is to enable students to attain university-recognised qualifications while pursuing their regular academic studies. In addition to this, the institution offers certificate, diploma, advanced, and Post Graduate diploma courses in Sanskrit for eligible candidates. The certificate course is open to students aged above 13. No prior knowledge of Sanskrit is required. The diploma course is open to students aged above 18 with either a Certificate course qualification or Sanskrit as a 2nd/3rd language from Class IX. The advanced certificate course is for students aged above 15 who have Sanskrit as a compulsory subject in school. The advanced diploma course is open to those aged above 20 with a diploma or equivalent Sanskrit background. The PG diploma course is available for students aged above 20 who have completed Plus Two and undergraduate studies, with Sanskrit as their 1st or 2nd language. The courses are conducted both online and offline on the Tiruchi campus, a press release from the institution's founder chairman V. Ramachandran said.
