CUK opens registration for Integrated Teacher Education Programme
The Central University of Kerala (CUK) has opened registration for the Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) for the academic year 2025-26. Candidates who appeared for the National Common Entrance Test (NCET) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) can register through the university's official website, until July 31. The registration fee is ₹500 for candidates belonging to the General, OBC and EWS categories. An additional ₹100 will be charged for each additional programme selected during registration. The university offers five ITEP programmes on its Periye campus — BSc-BEd in Physics, BSc-BEd in Zoology, BA-BEd in English, BA-BEd in Economics, and BCom-BEd. The intake for BCom-BEd is 50, while each of the other programmes has 25 seats. A provisional rank list will be published on August 6. Complaints, if any, may be sent to admissions@ on August 7. Admissions will be conducted in three phases: August 8-11, August 12-15, and August 18-20. Classes will begin on August 25. Shortlisted candidates must complete the online payment of admission fee within 48 hours of receiving the provisional admission offer. Candidates claiming reservation benefits must upload valid category certificates (SC/ST/OBC Non-Creamy Layer/EWS) in the prescribed format at the time of registration and present the originals at the time of admission. Candidates who have qualified for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG), conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), are eligible to apply. Registrations can be completed online through the university website, by July 31. The registration fee is ₹500 for General, OBC, and EWS categories, with an additional ₹100 for each extra programme selected. The Periye campus will offer (Hons) Biology, (Hons) Financial Analytics and B.C.A. (Hons), each with 60 seats. The Thiruvananthapuram Capital Centre will offer B.A. (Hons) International Relations with an intake of 40. The Honours degrees offer a pathway to direct Ph.D. admissions and a one-year PG programme under the restructured higher education model. CUK unveils future-ready 4-year UG programmes
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Central University of Kerala (CUK) has unveiled three dynamic four-year honours programmes for the 2025-26 academic session. The courses -- BSc (Hons) Biology with Research, BCom (Hons) Financial Analytics and BCA (Hons) -- are aimed to equip students with specialised skills for emerging global opportunities and dynamic market environment. Designed to be flexible and future-focused, these programmes incorporate multiple-entry and exit options, allowing students to earn a certificate after one year, a diploma after two, and a degree after three. Those completing the fourth year will receive an honours degree with research, enabling direct entry into PhD programmes or a fast-tracked one-year postgraduate course. 'The current employment landscape is being reshaped by digital innovation, climate exigencies, and data-centric industries. The Central University of Kerala's newly introduced undergraduate programmes are designed to be more than academic offerings. They are strategic spring boards into the careers of the future,' said CUK Vice-Chancellor Prof Siddu P Algur. In the BCom (Hons) Financial Analytics programme, students will gain hands-on experience with python, power BI, and global financial databases, empowering them to forecast market trends, detect fraud, and manage financial risks with precision. The BCA (Hons) programme covers a comprehensive array of fields -- data science, AI, machine learning, software development, cyber security, full-stack development, and system analysis. The BSc (Hons) Biology: Life Sciences in the Age of Innovation programme equips students for careers in biotech clusters, environmental consultancy, pharmaceuticals, public health, or academic research. CUK to launch three new four year undergraduate programmes this year
The Central University of Kerala (CUK) will introduce three new four-year undergraduate programmes from this academic year under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The new courses include BSc (Hons) Biology, BCom (Hons) Financial Analytics and BCA (Hons), aiming to prepare students for emerging global opportunities and technology driven careers. These honours programmes, offered respectively by the School of Biological Science, the Department of Commerce and International Business, and the Department of Computer Science, will follow entry and exit structure. Students will be eligible for a certificate after the first year, a diploma after the second, a degree in the third and an honours degree with research after four years, enabling admission to research or a one-year postgraduate programme. The BCom (Hons) Financial Analytics course is designed in consultation with industry experts to meet the demands of the changing business landscape. With a blend of finance, data science, and technology, the course opens career paths in quantitative and financial analysis, risk strategy and fintech, with skills in Python, Power BI and global financial databases. The BCA (Hons) programme aims to address global tech skill shortages by offering training in data science, Artificial intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), cybersecurity and systems analysis, preparing students for roles such as software developers, AI specialists and cybersecurity analysts. The BSc (Hons) Biology programme provides hands on training in core area like zoology, molecular biology, biotechnology and bioinformatics, targeting careers in biotech clusters, pharmaceuticals, public health and reasearch. Vice-Chancellor Sidhu P. Algur said the programmes are tailored for digital era careers and academic progression. 'The job market is undergoing a digital transformation, and these courses will equip students with the tools needed for future sectors,' he said. Admissions will be based on the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) conducted by the National Testing Agency. Applicants must register on the university portal once admissions open. The varsity already offers a four-year BA International Relations programme at its Thiruvnanthapuram centre and had previously launched a four year Integrated Teacher Education programme as part of the NEP 2020.

CUET results out: Students aim for top varsities outside state
Kochi: National Testing Agency ( ) declared results of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) on Friday, enabling students to secure admission to undergraduate programmes in various universities across the country. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Since the Central University of Kerala is the only institution in the state participating in CUET-based admissions, most students are eyeing top universities outside state. Although the statewide breakup of the data was not made available, among the 10,71,735 students who appeared for the examinations from across the country, 544 students opted to write the exam in Malayalam, according to data released by the NTA. Out of these, 406 students took the examinations for an undergraduate degree in Malayalam, with the highest NTA score recorded at 238 for the subject. The examination was held in computer-based test mode from May 13 to June 4 and was conducted across 300 cities in 13 different languages, including Malayalam. Although a detailed state-wise breakdown was not provided, it is evident that the number of students from Kerala was relatively low compared to those from North Indian states. "In science subjects like Biology and Chemistry, several students secured full marks, and in English, many scored over 98 percent," said Benson Varghese, a teacher at Brilliant Pala. "Since I was thorough with my Class XII subjects, the exams were relatively easy for me. I scored full marks in Biology and look forward to pursuing an undergraduate degree from ," said Johannes John Illickan, a native of Kanjikkuzhy, Kottayam.
