762 PM SHRI schools in Odisha soon, says Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan
JEYPORE: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday said 762 new PM SHRI schools will be set up across the state soon. Addressing a gathering at Vikram Deb University in Jeypore, Pradhan said, 'Earlier, there was little interest from the previous government in implementing the PM SHRI scheme. However, with the new BJP-led government in power in Odisha, the path has been cleared for the roll-out of these schools, which will significantly benefit students.' An estimated Rs 1,500 crore has been earmarked for setting up the 762 schools which are expected to become operational soon. Pradhan said the 'double-engine' government is committed to the development of tribal areas in undivided Koraput district. He announced that the Central University of Odisha (CUO) will soon see infrastructure upgrades, and a new Kendriya Vidyalaya will be established in Jeypore.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan chairs review meeting on education in Odisha's 4 aspirational districts
Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], July 7 (ANI): Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan chaired a high-level review meeting on education (school and higher) and other priority sectors in the four aspirational districts of Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, and Malkangiri at Koraput. Odisha's Minister of School and Mass Education, Nityananda Gond, Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj, senior officials from the district administrations, and Superintendents of Police from the respective districts participated in the meeting on Sunday. The review focused on improving educational infrastructure, ensuring quality education, and accelerating development in these aspirational districts. Further sharing the details of the meeting, Pradhan, in a post on X, said, 'Conducted a comprehensive review of the educational ecosystem in the undivided Koraput region covering the four aspirational districts of Koraput, Rayagada, Malkangiri and Nabarangpur in the presence of Odisha Education Ministers Shri @NityanandaBJP and Shri @suryabanshibjp.' 'We had detailed discussions on improving the school and higher education landscape and addressing issues related to GER, drop-outs, expansion and development of school infrastructure, residential facilities, availability and capacity building of teachers among others. Also, took stock of implementation and progress of welfare schemes in priority sectors like nutrition, health, women and child development and skill development. We also discussed to lay more emphasis on covering a child's educational journey from 0-18 years while addressing nutritional and health aspects,' he added further. Later, speaking to the media, Pradhan said, 'The Central government has identified Koraput, Rayagada, Malkangiri and Nabarangpur as the four aspirational districts. Over the past eight years, new initiatives have been taken in these districts. Education and Skills are being given special central and state governments are taking various steps for the development of Koraput...' Pradhan lays foundation for Rs 480 crore Net Zero campus of CUO at Koraput
JEYPORE: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan laid foundation stones for a slew of infrastructure projects worth Rs 480 crore at Central University of Odisha (CUO)'s Sunabeda campus in Koraput district on Saturday. The new infrastructure projects for which foundation was laid seek to build a Net Zero Campus which is environmentally sustainable, technologically advanced, and socially inclusive. The proposed project includes multi-storey academic blocks, 10 modern hostel buildings, a grand auditorium, a gymnasium and indoor sports complex. Besides, shopping centres, fully equipped health centre, and an international guest house will also be built. Designed with green building standards, renewable energy systems, and climate-resilient infrastructure, the Net Zero Campus will significantly reduce the university's carbon footprint while enhancing quality of life for students and faculty. The Minister also inaugurated newly completed facilities of the university, including the academic building, health centre, vice-chancellor's residence, officers' quarters, and staff quarters worth about Rs 130 crore. The minister witnessed MoU signing among six universities - CUO Koraput, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar, National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela, Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Sambalpur, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Berhampur, and Shri Sadashiva Campus of the Central Sanskrit University, Puri.
