CENTAC notifies commencement of admission process to NEET-UG courses

The Centralised Admission Committee (CENTAC) has notified the commencement of the admission process for UG NEET-2025 qualified candidates for admission to the first-year M.B.B.S., B.D.S., B.A.M.S. (Ayurveda) & & A.H. (Veterinary – National-SS & NRI seats only) courses. The last date has been fixed as July 14 for the submission of online applications to various undergraduate courses to a provisional pool of 1,229 seats in Government and Self-financing Medical, Dental, Ayurveda and Veterinary colleges in the U.T. of Puducherry. According to the CENTAC coordinator, detailed guidelines on seat numbers and various quotas have been published in the NEET information brochure for admissions 2025-26. CENTAC stated that the number of seats in various NEET-UG courses may vary depending on the approval of the concerned competent authorities of the Government of Puducherry and that the seat matrices will be published on the CENTAC website after receiving the same from the departments concerned. Provisionally, the pool of MBBS seats is 830 across the sole State institution and three private medical colleges. The break-up is 180 seats at IGMCRI, 150 at PIMS and 250 each at the Sri Manakula Vinayagar Medical College Hospital and the Sri Venkateshwaraa Medical College Hospital and Research Centre. There are 310 BDS seats in the U.T., comprising 110 in the State-run MGPGIDS and 100 each in the private SVDC, Puducherry and MINDS, Mahe. There are 26 seats for & A.H courses at RIVER, Puducherry and 63 seats for BAMS at RGAMC, Mahe. According to the admission schedule, after the window for submission of applications closes, authorities will notify the first draft merit list on a date announced on the website A second revised draft list will also be put out before the final list is published. Counselling will be undertaken in four rounds as per the guidelines received from the Medical Counselling Committee. After three rounds of counselling, the admissions will conclude with a stray round for seat allotments. CENTAC has opened helplines for candidates on the numbers 0413-2655570 & 0413-2655571.

Puducherry government constitutes a nine-member Centac panel to conduct admissions for 2025-26

The government has constituted the Centralised Admission Committee (Centac) for conducting admissions to higher and technical education courses, including MBBS, for the 2025-26 academic cycle. The government order appointing a nine-member committee to oversee admissions was notified recently following the approval of the Lieutenant Governor. According to the order, the term of the Centralised Admission Committee shall ordinarily be up to the completion of the admission process for the year 2025-26. Notwithstanding this, the Centac shall continue till such time a new Committee is constituted, it stated. The Centac is mandated with managing the admissions to the NEET-UG (Professional) /U.G. (Arts, Science and Commerce courses in Puducherry region only)/ U.G. (Fine Arts courses) / Diploma in Health Science courses in the Union Territory. It is also tasked with allotting seats earmarked to Puducherry quota by the Government of lndia in various government institutions all over India for the academic year 2025-26. The Education Secretary is the Centac chairman, the Health Secretary the vice-chairman and CENTAC convenor is the member secretary. The six officials to serve as members of Centac are the Director of Health, Director of Higher and Technical Education, Director of School Education, Joint//Deputy/Under Secretary of Health and Higher and Technical Education departments and the Centac coordinator (admissions). Through a separate order, the government notified the appointment of Cheryl Ann Gerardine Shivan, principal of Kasthurba College for Women, Puducherry as Centac convenor. The head of the Directorate of Higher and Technical Education will serve as Centac coordinator (admissions). According to the G.O., Centac shall notify the lnformation Brochure - 2025-26 prescribing the eligibility criteria and procedures for admission of candidates to lateral entry, full-time/ part-time, postgraduate, undergraduate and diploma courses. Centac will conduct counselling for the seats earmarked to the Union Territory of Puducherry by Government of lndia in various State institutions all over lndia and also for seats earmarked in institutions within Puducherry Union Territory. For the remaining courses, the admission authorities or the committee concerned shall admit students as per the guidelines specified therein as per relevant orders of the Directorate of Higher and Technical Education on March 11, 2020. The Centac chairman has been mandated to call heads of any college or subject experts to the Centac meetings as special invitees, on a need basis, the order said.

The Centralised Admission Committee has invited applications from candidates of the Union Territory for admission to Non-NEET UG courses, including (Hons), Agriculture and Horticulture, and A.H, (Nursing), B.P.T, paramedical courses, B. Pharm, B.A.L.L.B (5 years), Diploma in paramedical courses, and UG Arts, Science and Commerce courses (B.A, B.B.A & B.C.A) in Puducherry region colleges for the academic year 2025-26. The information brochure for Centac admission was released by Chief Minister N. Rangasamy at a function held in his office. The candidates can submit their applications online through till May 31. Other State candidates can also apply for both non-NEET professional UG and UG Arts, Science and Commerce courses they are eligible under Other State Quota/All India Quota, a government release here said. There are around 6,257 seats for UG non-NEET professional courses and 4,320 seats for UG Arts, Science and Commerce programmes. However, the number of seats are subject to change depending on various affiliating conditions for the academic year 2025-26.
