Dead body found in the middle of a lake at Cesar Chavez Park in south Phoenix, police say
Phoenix police said detectives were investigating a dead body found in a lake at Cesar Chavez Park.
At about 8:11 a.m. May 25, a witness reported a person floating in the middle of the lake at the park located near 35th Avenue and Baseline Road in south Phoenix, according to Sgt. Brian Bower in a statement.
Both police and technical rescue team members from the Phoenix Fire Department arrived on scene.
Detectives were investigating what led up to the body's discovery in the lake, Bower said.
The Phoenix Fire Department referred questions about the body to Phoenix police.
An identity of the deceased was not immediately provided.
"It is still very early into this investigation," said Bower.
