‘Gen V' Season 2 Trailer Promises Uncovered Secrets, Lots of Blood

The first season of Gen V never shied away from gore — as one would expect from a spinoff of The Boys — and it looks like the second one won't either. Prime VIdeo unveiled a trailer for the forthcoming season of Gen V Friday at Comic-Con, and it skimps on neither the over-the-top moments that are a hallmark of the Boys-verse nor the intrigue at Godolkin University, where the show's supes-in-training attend college. More from The Hollywood Reporter 'Alien: Earth' Screens Blockbuster First Episode at Comic-Con 'Rick and Morty' Spinoff 'President Curtis' a Go at Adult Swim 'The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon' Renewed for Fourth and Final Season at AMC The trailer debuted as part of a Comic-Con session that featured castmembers Jaz Sinclair, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh and Hamish Linklater and showrunner Michele Fazekas. Chace Crawford, who will reprise his role as The Deep in season two, also made an appearance on stage. Watch the trailer below. Also revealed during the panel (and in the trailer) are the casting of Wicked's Ethan Slater as Thomas Godolkin. Additionally, Sean Patrick Thomas has been upped to a series regular for season two. Gen V's season two description reads, 'School is back in session. As the rest of America adjusts to Homelander's iron fist, back at Godolkin University, the mysterious new dean (Linklater) preaches a curriculum that promises to make students more powerful than ever. Cate (Phillips) and Sam (Asa Germann) are celebrated heroes, while Marie (Sinclair), Jordan (Thor), and Emma (Lizze Broadway) reluctantly return to college, burdened by months of trauma and loss. But parties and classes are hard to care about with war brewing between humans and supes, both on and off campus. The gang learns of a secret program that goes back to the founding of Godolkin University that may have larger implications than they realize. And, somehow, Marie is a part of it.' Sony Pictures TV and Amazon MGM Studios produce Gen V in association with Kripke Enterprises, Point Grey and Original Film. How Chace Crawford Got Superhero-Shredded for 'The Boys' Final Season

Chace Crawford is known for his teen heartthrob days as Nate Archibald on Gossip Girl. He played the wealthy, popular golden boy—everyone on the show was obsessed with him at one point or another. Off-screen, Crawford grew up in Texas, playing sports and staying active, which helped fuel his lifelong love of fitness. That passion stayed with him through college at Pepperdine in California and beyond. Now, with his role as The Deep on The Boys, fitness has become even more important. Crawford admits that while his athletic background gave him a solid base, he's had to dial in his training more than ever, especially as he approaches 40. "I was looking at old pictures in 2018 because we're wrapping up, and I really did dial in," Crawford to Men's Journal. "I've always kind of liked the gym, and I was always kind of just going in there and not really knowing what I was doing fully. And so when this job started, it really allowed me to focus on it. I learned a lot from that." Crawford admits he went a little too hard in the gym for a long time. But with 40 knocking on the door, he's learned to slow down. These days, you won't catch him grinding for hours or skipping rest days. Instead, he's more intentional, taking walks without headphones and tuning into how his body actually feels. It's less about chasing a pump and more about playing the long game."I'm nearing 40, and recovery is a lot less," he admits. "So I've learned to be more efficient, and I need to do a host of things to warm up to get my body ready. I've been doing a lot less at the gym and getting more out of myself to recover, whether that's just listening to my body, listening to myself and taking that day completely off if I need to, as opposed to, 'Oh, I work tomorrow, I've got to get this in today.'" He's also gotten more dialed in with his nutrition. While he could get away with a lot more in his younger years, he's now focused on fueling his body to support recovery and longevity. "I'm just doing a little bit less volume and sort of eating properly at least, you know, 80 percent of the time," he says. "On the weekends or whatever, if we're going out to dinner, I eat anything I want, but I try and eat healthy most of the time. And I think that helps with the recovery process at the gym." For most people who've been training seriously for years, less really does become more with age. When you've built a strong foundation over a decade or more, it doesn't take much to maintain it. Just look at legends like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Dorian Yates—they're no longer in Olympia shape, but they're still carrying plenty of muscle. Crawford's taking a similar approach, loosening the reins and leaning into the idea that smart, sustainable training beats grinding nonstop. "I'm doing a little bit less, to be honest," he says. "I think at the beginning of the show, I put a lot more pressure on myself to be cut up and look a specific way. And it was fun, but things get boring and it can become too oppressive in a way where you just [have] to kind of relax and find that variety in the gym."
