Longhorns predicted to land cornerback Samari Matthews

Over the last few weeks, Longhorns football has been on a roll in adding to their 2026 class. That includes the additions of a five-star defensive end and two four-star defensive linemen. However, they are not done yet. On3's Chad Simmons and Steve Wiltfong have both logged expert predictions that Texas will land four-star cornerback Samari Matthews. The North Carolina native is ranked as the No. 9 cornerback in the 2026 class and the No. 69 overall player by On3. They also rank him as the sixth-best player out of North Carolina. While the expert prediction is a welcoming sign, Texas is not the only program with its eyes on Matthews. Advertisement During the offseason, the talented cornerback has been busy touring the country. Matthews has visited Florida State, Texas, and South Carolina this month. That came after a trip to Miami in May. With most of his visits in the books, the anticipation is building over his final decision. Currently, the Longhorns 2026 class includes one cornerback, three-star Hayward Howard Jr. While he is a talented prospect, adding more depth at the position is key for a recruiting class trending up. Following the Longhorns' recent additions, their 2026 class has climbed to No. 10 in the country and No. 4 in the SEC per on3. A commitment from Matthews could make that ranking go even higher. Luckily for the Longhorns, they won't have to wait long to find out Matthews's decision. He has set his commitment date for July 11. Texas hopes that on that date, they will be able to add Matthews name to the list of potential Longhorns stars. LSU football projected to miss on top tight end recruiting target, losing to SEC power

LSU football is projected to miss on a top tight end recruiting target, according to Rivals' Chad Simmons. In a prediction dropped earlier this week, Simmins has four-star tight end Brayden Fogle committing to Georgia over LSU and Penn State. According to the On3 Industry Rankings, Fogle is the No. 10-ranked tight end in the 2026 recruiting class. 247Sports is the highest on Fogle, slotting the Ohio prospect as the No. 132-ranked recruit in the country. Fogle is one of the top tight ends left on the board, and if Georgia continues to trend as the favorite, it leaves LSU with recruiting questions at the tight end position. LSU only signed one player at the position last year and would likely need to turn its attention towards flip candidates. Fogle is slated to announce his commitment on July 4. Ahead of Fogle's announcement, LSU's 2026 class ranks No. 5 nationally, per Rivals. Even if LSU misses on Fogle, the Tigers are sitting pretty in the pass-catching department. LSU's 2026 wide receiver crop is the best in the country, headlined by five-star wide receiver Tristen Keys.

Jamal 'Rock' Rule will announce his commitment on Monday, June 23rd at 5:30 p.m. CT. The Salisbury, North Carolina, native played his junior year at Charlotte Christian, where he made an impact despite playing in just seven games. The running back rushed for 1,236 yards, averaging 9.2 yards per carry, and 15 touchdowns. In a video released on social media, Rule lists Nebraska in his top four along with Virginia Tech, Syracuse, and Michigan State. The running back was just on the Lincoln campus the weekend of June 13-15. The Nebraska Cornhuskers' class of 2026 landed its sixth commitment on Friday evening. Tennessee Locked in Heated Battle With Michigan, Ohio State for Five-Star Playmaker

Tennessee Locked in Heated Battle With Michigan, Ohio State for Five-Star Playmaker originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Tennessee Volunteers remain very much involved in the recruitment of the top running back in the 2026 recruiting class. But so do the Michigan Wolverines and Ohio State Buckeyes. Advertisement On3's Chad Simmons reported on Friday that this weekend the Volunteers will get another crack at the top running back prospect -- five-star Savion Hiter. "Tennessee is deep in this race. Savion Hiter has connected with the staff, he loves the Tennessee offense and the Vols get the five-star running back's final visit of the summer," wrote Simmons. "Ohio State is working to stay in this, but Tennessee's top competition looks to be Michigan. "Tony Alford and the staff in Ann Arbor have done a great job. Tennessee's staff has too, and there is a little optimism in Knoxville when talking to sources." Tennessee Volunteers head coach Josh Heupel© Andrew Nelles / The Tennessean / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine has yet to show that optimism. The prediction machine projected Tennessee has a 17.4% chance of landing Hiter. Advertisement But no program's chances were higher 27% for Hiter, and the percentages may be a little out of date anyway. Based on Simmons' latest assessment, Tennessee and Michigan appear to be the two favorites for the five-star running back, yet those two schools are third and fourth in the machine's percentage odds to land Hiter. In addition to being the top running back, Hiter is the No. 1 Virginia prospect in the 2026 recruiting class based on the 247Sports Composite rankings. The running back is also ranked as the No. 17 overall recruit for 2026. Hiter's visit to Tennessee this weekend is the last one on his schedule. LSU football trending to land one of 2026's top wide receiver recruits

LSU football trending to land one of 2026's top wide receiver recruits Two prominent On3 writers have logged predictions for LSU football to land one of the top wide receivers in the 2026 recruiting class. According to Chad Simmons and Steve Wiltfong, LSU is the leader for four-star wide receiver Ethan "Boobie" Feaster. Simmons and Wiltfong made the call as Feaster was finishing up a weekend visit at LSU. Feaster was originally a member of the 2027 recruiting class before reclassifying to 2026. Despite reclassifying, Feaster remains among the top-ranked players in the class. Per the On3 Industry Rankings, Feaster is the No. 4 ranked recruit at his position. ESPN and Rivals both rank Feaster as the No. 3 wide receiver in the class. Feaster, a Texas native, plays for DeSoto High School, a Texas football powerhouse. Feaster's recruitment is far from over and LSU will have to fend off the Texas schools who will continue to push for Feaster's services. LSU's 2026 class currently ranks atop the SEC and No. 3 in the country. Feaster would be the second wide receiver in LSU's class, joining four-star Louisiana product Kenny Darby.
