2025 Jacksonville Jaguars' roster preview: WR Chandler Brayboy

With offseason programs now behind us, we will be getting a jump start on our training camp preview by going player-by-player through the Jacksonville Jaguars' 91-man roster. Going alphabetically, up is UDFA wide receiver Chandler Brayboy. Chandler Brayboy's profile Height: 6-1 Weight: 199 Age: 23 NFL experience: Rookie College: Elon No. 15 2024 Snap Count totals in college Offense: 563 Special teams: 49 2024 PFF grades Offense: 75.7 Special teams: 62.5 2024 Season Review This past season was a career year for Brayboy, who had 90 targets, totaled 979 yards, and scored eight touchdowns. Among eligible wideouts at the FCS level, Brayboy was one of the best at picking up YAC, ranking 12th in that category, averaging 7.4 yards after the catch, per PFF. Advertisement Brayboy played six seasons at Elon and was a regular contributor on offense over the last four. He has experience lining up both outside and in the slot. Along with his contributions on offense, Brayboy was a kick returner as well. This included averaging almost 36 yards per return this past year with two touchdowns. Looking ahead to the 2025 season We know at the receiver position for the Jaguars that the first four roster spots are accounted for between Brian Thomas Jr., Travis Hunter, Dyami Brown, and Parker Washington. Depending on whether the Jaguars roster five or six receivers, that leaves one to two spots up for grabs. Advertisement With this being a fairly inexperienced position group beyond the top four on the depth chart, that creates opportunities for undrafted rookies, like Brayboy, to make a mark. In doing that, special teams contributions will be a key part of that equation since that is likely where the bulk of the playing time will come from for the fifth and sixth wideouts on the depth chart. With that said, given what we know right now, the practice squad is the likely ceiling for Brayboy in Year 1. For starters, he's making the jump from the FCS level to the NFL, and landing on the 53-man roster includes surpassing an experienced player like Trenton Irwin, along with Josh Cephus, who is a returning player and has caught some attention during offseason programs. Jaguars announced 20 undrafted free agent signings following 2025 NFL draft

Following the conclusion of the 2025 NFL draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars have announced that they have signed 20 undrafted free agents to go along with their nine-man draft class. The Jaguars entered the 2025 NFL draft with a lot of work to do when it came to rounding out their roster. According to Over the Cap, at that point, only 59 players were currently under contract. Advertisement Oftentimes, these undrafted additions primarily bolster the depth of each position group so a team can navigate training camp and the preseason, but it's also an opportunity for teams to raise the level of competition throughout the roster as well, and hopefully, that in turn raises the level of play. Each year, around the NFL, there are numerous examples of undrafted players who end up making their team's 53-man roster. While even more end up on the practice squad. 'I mean, that's a space that we want to continue to tap and make sure that the competition-level across the roster is as good as we can make it,' James Gladstone said, via Jaguars on SI. 'I think with the idea that there will be so many undrafted college free agents that we bring in, that inherently creates a dynamic in which people are fighting for jobs, people fighting for spots, and you feel that when those guys get in the building, get on the grass. It's something that, as I think back to my experience with the [Los Angeles] Rams, we've gone into a draft with only 45 players on-roster. So, this is a healthier version of that, so to speak, if you're looking at more being healthy.' Advertisement For a Jaguars team that is under new leadership, perhaps more so now than in past years as GM James Gladstone reshapes the roster, the opportunity for a UDFA to make the final roster could be more in play, particularly those players who prove to be intangibly rich. Chandler Brayboy's scouting report Lance Zierlein: "Brayboy's athletic traits warrant a peek at the tape. He has good top-end speed and really impresses with his ability to separate from coverage. However, his ball skills fall well below NFL standards with spotty ball-tracking and inconsistent hands. He's fearless and fast in a straight line, though. His potential as a kick returner will need to be his entry point toward getting a chance in the NFL."
