Globally Recognized Cryptocurrency Attorney, Blockchain Designer Bolsters Spencer Fane Financial Services Practice in Denver

DENVER, July 24, 2025 (Bitwire) -- Spencer Fane LLP is pleased to welcome Emma Channing to the firm's Denver office as a partner in the Banking and Financial Services practice group. Channing advises digital asset, blockchain technology, and cryptocurrency companies operating as token issuers, funds, trading platforms, banking entities, and registered broker-dealers; and U.S. and international traditional financial services firms and funds looking to gain exposure or entrance into digital assets. Throughout more than two decades in practice, she has gained significant experience across several key aspects of digital asset transactions, including entity formation, corporate counseling and compliance law, mergers and acquisitions, and emerging securities and financial regulation. At the forefront of Channing's highly agile and constantly evolving legal practice is Real-World Asset (RWA) tokenization, including stablecoins. An early adopter of progressive cryptocurrencies, she has been involved with some of the first tokenized funds and contributed to the blockchain platform design of a digital securities company for which she served as a FINRA registered representative. Prior to joining Spencer Fane, Channing was the founder, CEO, and general counsel of the Satis Group, which coordinated legal, broker-dealer, and technology support for tokenization for financial services clients. 'We are excited to welcome Emma to our diverse financial services practice at a pivotal time for the digital asset space,' said Spencer Fane Chair Patrick J. Whalen. 'In addition to building out this rapidly growing legal subsector, she aligns wonderfully with the firm's collaborative culture and new organizational structure, which gives attorneys autonomy to form specialized practices that better serve clients and emerging market needs.' An influential voice in shaping cryptocurrency legislation across Colorado, California, New York, and Wyoming, Channing has testified before the Wyoming Blockchain Task Force - the leader of blockchain legislation progression in the U.S. - and the U.S. House of Representatives Subcommittee on Digital Assets, Financial Technology and Inclusion on how RWA tokenization can facilitate more efficient financial markets. A U.K. native, Channing has similarly established herself in international M&A and capital markets, working for major international law firms early in her career. Her pioneering work in cryptocurrency is also recognized globally, though she dedicates herself to the specific advancement of U.S. compliance and regulatory policy as she promotes increased accessibility in the space. Channing earned her Bachelor of Laws degree, the U.K. equivalent to a Juris Doctor, from Durham University, then went on to obtain her Master of Laws from Durham University and, later, Stanford University Law School. Frog species found at 4,000 metres on Kilimanjaro sets African altitude record

Until now, scientists believed that frogs could not survive above 3,000m on the African continent. 12 Jul 2025 08:00pm Further research is planned to assess these threats and guide future conservation efforts. - AFP photo for illustration purpose only KUALA LUMPUR - A frog species has been discovered at an unprecedented altitude of 4,000 metres (m) on Mount Kilimanjaro, marking the highest known habitat for frogs in Africa to date. The finding was made by climbing expedition company Altezza Travel in June 2024 and subsequently reported to the Tanzania Wildlife Research Institute (TAWIRI), prompting a scientific investigation into the discovery. A follow-up expedition conducted from Feb 20 to 25, led by a research team that included Professor Alan Channing, an amphibian expert from the North-West University in South Africa, successfully located the frogs in river systems at altitudes between 3,500 m and 4,000 m. - AFP photo for illustration purpose only According to Altezza Travel in a statement, until now, scientists believed that frogs could not survive above 3,000 m on the African continent. A follow-up expedition conducted from Feb 20 to 25, led by a research team that included Professor Alan Channing, an amphibian expert from the North-West University in South Africa, successfully located the frogs in river systems at altitudes between 3,500 m and 4,000 m. Professor Channing said the findings challenge existing scientific assumptions about amphibian altitude tolerance on the continent. DNA samples were collected and tested in South Africa, confirming the frogs belong to the "Amietia wittei' species, now proven capable of surviving at much higher altitudes than previously recorded. The high-altitude research, carried out along Kilimanjaro's river systems, also raised environmental concerns. Scientists have cautioned that the frog faces potential threats, including water contamination from dishwashing chemicals used by mountain porters, shrinking water sources due to climate change, and predation by birds. Further research is planned to assess these threats and guide future conservation efforts. Altezza Travel fully funded and organised the expedition, covering DNA analysis, laboratory testing, international transportation, and providing logistical support such as guides, porters, food supplies and oxygen tanks. A detailed report has since been released by the company. - BERNAMA

Stockard Channing, Dianne Wiest to Return for "Practical Magic 2"

Yara Sameh Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest will reprise their roles as eccentric aunts with a deep knowledge of coven living in 'Practical Magic 2.' They join Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, the stars of the 1998 romantic fantasy that is getting a sequel from Warner Bros. Channing is an Oscar nominee for her work in 'Six Degrees of Separation.' Her other films include 'Grease' and 'Up Close and Personal.' She also appeared on 'The West Wing' and won a Tony for 'A Day in the Death of Joe Egg.' Wiest is a two-time Oscar winner who was recognized for her supporting turns in Woody Allen's 'Hannah and Her Sisters' and 'Bullets Over Broadway.' Her film credits include 'Parenthood' (another Oscar nomination), as well as 'The Birdcage,' 'Edward Scissorhands,' 'The Lost Boys,' and 'Little Man Tate.' More recently, Wiest appeared in 'The Mule' and 'I Care a Lot.' In addition to Wiest and Channing, Lee Pace ('Bodies Bodies Bodies'), Maisie Williams ('Game of Thrones'), Xolo Maridueña ('Blue Beetle') and Solly McLeod ('The Dead Don't Hurt') have joined the ensemble. Joey King ('The Act') was previously reported as being part of the cast. Susanne Bier ('Bird Box') is directing from a screenplay co-written by Akiva Goldsman, who also co-wrote the original, and Georgia Pritchett ('Succession'). Griffin Dunne directed the first film, but isn't helming this follow-up. The first 'Practical Magic' was not a commercial success, earning $68.3 million worldwide against its $75 million budget. However, it developed a cult following on home entertainment. In an age of diminishing IP, that's enough to justify a sequel. Production is currently underway on 'Practical Magic 2,' which will be released in theaters on September 18, 2026. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Arts & Culture Hawass Foundation Launches 1st Course to Teach Ancient Egyptian Language Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream

Channing Tatum recalls learning on the job in Hollywood

Bang Showbiz | Los Angeles Channing Tatum was learning on the job early in his acting career. The 44-year-old movie star made his film debut in the drama 'Coach Carter' back in 2005 - but Channing thinks his acting skills have really matured in recent years. Channing - who actually worked as a stripper and as a model before finding success in Hollywood - told 'Extra': 'I was getting jobs before I knew what even acting was or how to do it. 'I was doing all, like, kinda onthe-job training in a way, just being like, 'Okay, just say the line naturally,' instead of actually understanding what acting is and what this, like, beautiful gift is.' Channing has 'learned so much' about acting from watching films. The 'Deadpool and Wolverine' star shared: 'I was watching movies and I've learned so much from movies, more than I've learned from school or anything else or books or anything. 'Movies are probably my longest relationship in my life. I don't know, I just love them so much. They're magical.' Meanwhile, Channing recently revealed that he 'won't be doing anymore fat roles'. The actor took to social media to reveal the physical transformation he made for 'Josephine', the upcoming thriller film, and Channing confirmed that he doesn't intend to pile on the pounds for any future film roles.

Channing Tatum: I'm so grateful for my genetics

Channing Tatum "won't be doing anymore fat roles". The 44-year-old actor has taken to social media to reveal the physical transformation he's made for 'Josephine', an upcoming thriller film, and Channing has confirmed that he doesn't intend to pile on the pounds for any future film roles. Alongside a series of topless selfies, Channing wrote on Instagram: "We back up! lol. 1st photo is today 205. 2nd photo 235 for a movie called Josephine. Then went to 3rd photo which is 172 for a movie Roofman. I'm so grateful for my genetics. Grateful for my chef/nutritionist/witch. Grateful for my trainer. I couldn't make these big swings in my weight without you guys. But i won't be doing anymore fat roles haha. It's to hard on the body and to hard to take off now. But damn when i look at these pics it's just wild what the human body and will can do. (sic)" Channing previously admitted that he finds it tough to stay in tip-top shape. The movie star also expressed admiration for people who "work a nine to five" and actually manage to stay in shape. During an appearance on 'The Kelly Clarkson Show' in February 2022, Channing said: "I don't know how people that work a nine to five actually stay in shape because it's my full time job and I can barely do it. But you workout twice a day, you have to eat completely right at a certain time. It's a specific thing." Channing embarked on a gruelling workout plan in preparation for the 'Magic Mike' movies, but the actor acknowledged that it's "not even healthy". He said: "It's hard to look like that. "Even if you do work out, to be that kind of in shape is not natural. That's not even healthy. You have to starve yourself. I don't think when you're that lean, it's actually healthy."
