'Love Island USA's' Hannah dishes on Charlie, Pepe and who should win Season 7
Hannah Fields, a "Love Island USA" Season 7 bombshell, has had an unconventional journey. She entered the show on the June 6 episode with Amaya Espinal during the 'Getting to Fourth Base' challenge. She instantly felt a connection to Charlie Georgiou, another bombshell who entered with Cierra Ortega. Their connection came to an abrupt end when fans voted for Hannah to couple up with new bombshell Jose 'Pepe' Garcia-Gonzalez on Day 11. Charlie was left single and vulnerable. He then received the most votes from his fellow Islanders and was dumped from the villa. Hannah shed lots of tears for Charlie the night he was eliminated, but soon she started to explore a connection with Pepe. The two moved at a rapid pace and things got hot and heavy. On Day 16, Hannah did not receive enough votes from viewers and was vulnerable alongside Iris and Amaya. The safe women voted to send Hannah home, saying she had already explored two strong connections while the other two were not given the same opportunity. Hannah, a 23-year-old medical student and bartender from Tucson, was sent home during the June 22 episode alongside Jeremiah Brown. Now, outside the villa, in an exclusive interview with The Arizona Republic, Hannah revealed who she would like to see win 'Love Island USA' 2025, if she would reconnect with Charlie or Pepe and how she felt about her elimination. Hannah thought about going on 'Love Island USA' on a whim. Her friends encouraged her, but she never thought anything would come from it. 'My dating life has not really ever worked out for me so much, and I thought it's a new opportunity to try something new,' Hannah said. 'When I got the call asking me if it's something I'd still be willing to do, I was like, you know what? You only live once, maybe I'll find my husband here. And I just wanted to give it a shot.' Hannah said her closest friends on the island were probably Amaya, Iris and Taylor but she was fairly close with everyone. What happened to Cierra? Here's why Cierra Ortega got kicked off 'Love Island' Hannah and Cierra discussed their Arizona connections when Hannah first entered the villa. They bonded over how they both went to the University of Arizona. Hannah is finishing up a pre-med track at the University of Arizona after getting her bachelor's from California State University, Fullerton. She calls herself a 'military brat" and has lived in North Carolina, California and many other places. She lived in Tucson from age 5 to 16. She then moved back a couple of years ago and has been there since. Hannah and Charlie, a 28-year-old actor and model from Birmingham, United Kingdom, had a 'short conversation' since she left the villa. She said they're both enjoying time with family, getting back into the real world and 'coming back to reality a little bit.' 'I think part of me is still in the villa, so nothing is set in stone yet for me,' Hannah said. This could be hinting at her other connection with Pepe, who is still on the show. During the July 1 episode of 'Love Island USA,' Pepe, a 27-year-old personal trainer and retired pro basketball player from Los Angeles, mentioned how Hannah was still on his mind. 'I do feel really validated, because I did think about him a lot,' Hannah said. 'But also, I was giving him the time to really experience, testing connections, getting to know people. So, it wasn't something that I ever wanted to force. I think, when he comes out, it is something that I'm open and willing to explore, but I'm not forcing anything in my life for sure.' After cutting things off with Gracyn Blackmore, Pepe is currently coupled up with Iris, and the two seem to have chemistry. The only thing Hannah wishes she had done differently during her time in the villa is getting to know everyone a little bit more, especially the other men. 'So maybe just exploring a little bit more,' Fields said. 'But I also feel like I did a lot of exploring in general.' As for who she wishes she had gotten to know: Elan. 'I think Elan seems like somebody who is definitely right up my alley,' Fields said. 'He just seems like a really genuine guy. So I think that's like, in the villa, I would definitely have explored him. But you don't know for sure until you're in that situation.' Elan joined the show during Casa Amor, which happened right after Hannah was evicted. Hannah also ran into Casa boy Zac Woodworth at the airport on their way home from Fiji. Zac is living in Scottsdale and the two bonded over the fact that his little brother also went to the University of Arizona. As for whether she will see Zac again, Hannah said they did make plans. 'I think we had all, at the airport, discussed me going to Scottsdale and having a little fun time out in Old Town,' Fields said. 'But we make a lot of plans inside and outside the villa. If those will fall through, I don't know.' During the show, Hannah had mentioned going to Nashville with some Islanders for her birthday, and she still wants to to that. Hannah was eliminated after placing in the bottom three in an America's favorites vote. She was then sent home by her fellow Islanders despite having a budding connection with Pepe. 'I think everybody has a misunderstanding of the point of 'Love Island' and I think I was maybe punished a little bit for having such a good connection,' Fields said. 'Sometimes the explanations and the reasonings don't make sense, but I'm so eternally grateful for the experience.' If Hannah had to pick someone to send home, she said she doesn't think she could've made that decision either. As for eliminating Jeremiah, who left at the same time as Hannah, she thinks that was not the right choice at all. 'I don't understand,' Hannah said. 'I think nobody really understands any of the reasoning for anything. But I think Jeremiah was just starting to really get a connection that I thought was good and good for him. And he's a really sweet guy, so I don't think that, it was really deserved at all.' Hannah said she is rooting for her bombshell sister Amaya. 'I don't care who Amaya ends up with, that's my number one,' she said. 'I hope she wins. I hope she finds her a man who actually cherishes her and loves her and can be just as emotional and loving as she is.' Hanna said her experience really opened her eyes to what is out there in the world in terms of traveling and getting to know people. 'I feel like I've been so set on school and my education and getting to my career that I kind of overlooked everything else,' Fields said. "Now I really want to experience my life in my 20s, while I'm young and I have the opportunity to do so.' If given the opportunity to return to 'Love Island USA,' she would take the chance in a heartbeat if she were single, she said. And despite everything, she said it feels good to be back in Tucson, resume her normal routine and support her hometown. 'Because you can't take that out of me, I can't love you more than my hometown,' Fields said. ‘Love Island USA' Host Ariana Madix & Narrator Iain Stirling Unpack Jaw-Dropping Moments From Season 7 So Far And Dispel Production Myths
Love Island USA For as many mixed emotions as this season of Love Island USA is eliciting in fans, imagine how Ariana Madix and Iain Stirling feel. More from Deadline 'Grosse Pointe Garden Society' Cast Reacts To Cancellation: "This One Stings" 'The 'Burbs' Rounds Out Cast With 4 Joining Keke Palmer & Jack Whitehall 'Grosse Pointe Garden Society' Canceled By NBC After One Season, Won't Move To Peacock The host and narrator of the series have had to pick their own jaws up off the floor a few times as the Season 7 drama has unfolded. Madix, who is a self-proclaimed super fan of the franchise and began hosting duties in Season 6, tells Deadline she was most affected by the dumping of Charlie Georgiou just as he was beginning to form a strong connection to Hannah Fields. 'Even in the moment, being there during it was jaw dropping. I even said to my producer in my earpiece, I asked them could they see my heart through my outfit, because I really felt like it was beating out of my chest,' she remembered. 'I was like, 'I'm shocked that you can't hear it, let alone see it moving the fabric.' It was an intense night for sure.' Stirling had a tough time choosing just one moment, citing a few including Jeremiah White's unceremonious departure, but concluded that Nic Vansteenberghe and Olandria Carthen's rendezvous in Soul Ties was at the top of his list so far. In case you missed it, the pair were individually dumped during Casa Amor but were given the chance to couple up together and return to the villa, where they could explore their own connection. This led to a steamy make out session in the secluded daybed, which is notorious for intimate moments on the series. 'I genuinely can't tell you the last time I watched Love Island and reacted to it like I wasn't working on it,' he gushed about the kiss, calling it an 'ultimate Love Island moment' that will go down in franchise history books. While Madix joined the franchise in Season 6 of the U.S. spinoff, Stirling has been around the Love Island block for a minute. He began narrating the UK edition when it launched in 2015 and added USA to his plate in Season 4. Love Island UK quickly became a cultural touchstone for younger audiences, but it took a few seasons for Love Island USA to begin attracting attention. Last season, the show took off, which Stirling attributes at least in part to the 'five or six legendary Love Island contestants' who graced audiences' small screens. 'You just don't get that many on one series,' he said, speaking from his experience. For as good as Season 6 was, Stirling says he thinks that Season 7 is 'as good, if not better,' because rather than a few individuals attracting eyeballs, 'it's like a real team effort.' 'The show's really come into its own, and it's really amazing to see,' he added. 'I don't know if it's because it's America…but it's the first time in a long time I felt like a like I'm watching the show as well as working on it.' While Stirling's job is to provide his own commentary on the happenings in the villa, Madix often has to remain tight-lipped about her thoughts — at least in front of the islanders, so as not to sway their decision making. Contrary to the increasingly popular belief that all the twists and turns are pre-planned or 'scripted,' Madix says production is very careful to let events unfold as naturally as possible in that environment. 'There's constantly conspiracy theories about how the show was made or how decisions are made within the villa or with the islanders. There's always accusations of things being rigged, or that production decided this, that or the other. That's not true,' she explained. 'The audience is so smart about so many things, but they never get it right on what is maybe influenced or not. Islander decisions are never influenced by production. Voting is never rigged. Things are not decided on because the season is going a certain way. The way that we did Casa this year — which I loved, by the way, because it gave people agency, and it prevented people from being singled out as villains — things like that are planned ahead of time.' Take Nic and Olandria's recoupling, for example. Madix tells Deadline that it was always the plan to give the eliminated islanders the opportunity to be a couple and re-enter the villa. The fact that it was Nic and Olandria, who had subtly expressed interest in each other earlier in the season, was just a serendipitous twist of fate. 'I never would have predicted that. [I thought] Olandria felt like she wanted to be loyal to Taylor, so she maybe won't open herself up as much to the guys in Casa as other women. But Nic, I thought, oh for sure. He's so flirty. He's so friendly. He's going to get chosen,' Madix said, admitting she thought that TJ Palma was going to get the boot instead. She continued: 'I was actually so shocked when it ended up being the two of them. It was also my birthday, and I was like, 'Ah, happy birthday to me.' I just felt like if they never explored it, will they ever know?' Still, Madix approaches her host duties with as much humanity as she can. This season alone we've seen her on multiple occasions give contestants the space to express their emotions, however messy they might be. 'I want them to know that I feel for all of them, regardless of what's going on in any moment. I know it's a very difficult position to be in. Whether that is somebody who is liked by the audience or not, they're all in there just kind of doing their best. So it's hard sometimes to stop myself from just wanting to encourage them or or tell them it's fine,' she said. Last week, Peacock issued a reminder to fans to remain polite online as discourse about the season grew, with a barrage negative comments directed at the contestants themselves. As a fan herself, Madix acknowledged how frustrating it can be to watch things unfold in the villa differently than the way she might want them to. But, she also points out 'sometimes we see so much more, I think, than they do.' 'Even if it's a moment that they were present for, they're not watching it from here. They're living the moment. So it's a lot different to be able to watch a moment and pick up on a micro expression or pick up on a vibe. Sometimes it's like we've seen so much more that we can make assumptions or judgments on, but I can't tell them that,' she said. 'Sometimes, you see someone want to couple up with someone [else], and I just feel like, 'Oh, I wish they would look elsewhere,' but I just have to smile.' The Love Island USA Season 7 finale is right around the corner on July 13. With Casa Amor in the rearview mirror, this is the time when emotions are running highest, so don't expect the producers to let up on the gas pedal now. 'The relationships are getting stronger, they're getting more intense, people are getting closer. So, of course, when people get closer, feelings start to happen. It's much less difficult to be nonchalant about somebody that you're dating a month and a half,' Madix teased. 'People are becoming less and less open, and so actions are really starting to have some serious consequences.' Love Island USA airs every day except Wednesdays on Peacock. 'Love Island USA' Star Charlie Georgiou Expresses Disappointment In Co-Stars Amaya And Cierra
"Love Island USA" star Charlie Georgiou entered the villa as one of the season's first bombshells. However, his quest for love with Hannah Fields, 23, was cut short in a dramatic recoupling during episode 12, which saw him sent home after receiving the fewest votes from his co-stars. Now, in a new interview, the British reality star is discussing the moments leading up to his departure and is also expressing his disappointment with a few of his cast members, specifically Amaya Espinal, 25, and Cierra Ortega, 25. "The votes are what sent me out of the villa that day. It was the votes," Georgiou told Decider. "They could have saved me. They did not save me. It is what it is," he continued before explaining what disappointed him most. "I was disappointed in Amaya's vote and Cierra's vote," he added, explaining that he and Fields had supported Espinal during her lowest moments in the villa. As for Ortega, since she and Georgiou entered the villa together, her vote to send him home stung even more. "Cierra [and I] came in this together, and she knows how long I was trying to find a connection and how happy I was when I had it. At the end of the day, I think I was just the easy vote for them," he said. "They didn't want to have to deal with the wrath of their friends. They didn't vote for the guy that had the weakest connection. I think they just voted for the guy they thought would be the easiest to get rid of." Before his departure, viewers saw Georgiou and Fields experience some turbulence in their relationship following the arrival of a new bombshell, Pepe Gonzalez. Prior to the vote that sent Georgiou packing, he and Fields had a moving conversation, which he described to Decider as "beautiful." "We spoke. We found out more things about each other on a deeper level. That conversation went on for a while and it was beautiful and we were so happy after it," he said. "I was like, 'Wow, this is it. I'm gonna get to experience this real Love Island journey now. We're gonna do this together. Whatever comes at us, okay. If we mess up along the way, it's all part of the journey.'" He continued, "So, I was just ready for this journey, and then it was just completely cut short in a tragic way, like, in a really brutal way." Georgiou also discussed what initially led him to pursue Fields inside the villa. "She was high-energy, she was funny, and I really loved her aesthetic," he said. "She had a bit of a twang to her accent. We were just instantly into each other, we found a lot [of] things [in common]," Georgiou said, adding that the unseen moments of their connection were what made him fall for her even more. "... the bits you don't see [in the show] and those little things that make it fun. I think that's what it was – attraction and energy," he explained. Elsewhere in his interview, Georgiou spoke candidly about his surprise at seeing Fields move on to Gonzalez so quickly after leaving "Love Island." "Part of me feels like it should have been me there. So, yeah, it did [surprise me]. Of course it did," he said. "I think it would hurt anybody. But I knew that's what would happen. You get forgotten in there. You've got to move on. It pains me, it sucks. I don't think it's how it should have been. What can I do? There's nothing I can do. It's hard." He stated further that even though he wishes he were still in the villa to get to know Fields on a deeper level, he understands that she must move on with her life. "She's gonna continue her journey now," he said, adding that knowing she'll get to connect with other guys "pains" him since he was "robbed" of the chance to develop something more serious with her. "Mine was genuinely taken away from me. It wasn't like she chose someone else and I was dumped. Okay, hands up. That's it, I walk away. I was robbed. I don't know [if we'll reconnect]. We'll see. I've got to channel my emotions and move in a way that's best for me now. And she's gonna continue her journey," he finished.
