Wheatley residents should expect some activity in the downtown core over the next few days as tests are run by contractors on the monitoring well.
In addition, gas migration tests will be conducted around the monitoring well and the entire library property. More remote air monitoring has been installed on the library property, in addition to the temporary vent stack to catch any gas.

Officials believe the gas leak was caused by an abandoned water well that is located underground behind the library. Plans to bring contractors to the property to dig up the well are in progress.
