Julie Chen addresses ‘Big Brother' retirement plans

Julie Chen Moonves will always be the head of the 'Big Brother' household. The television personality, 55, has hosted the long-running CBS reality show since 2000. And in honor of the competition series' 25th anniversary, Chen Moonves revealed if she sees retirement in her future. 'You know what?' she told Entertainment Weekly on Wednesday. 'This is a game of chicken. As long as Probst and Keoghan are there, so am I.' Advertisement 10 Julie Chen Moonves hosts 'Big Brother.' The former talk show host has a great deal of affection for 'Big Brother,' which enters its 27th season on Thursday. Advertisement 'It goes two ways,' Chen Moonves noted about the series. 'I can't imagine my life without 'Big Brother' every summer, and I can't imagine 'Big Brother' without me. It's kind of like we go hand in hand. I'm part of the show from season 1 and part of building it up.' 10 'Big Brother' Season 9. Can you imagine someone else delivering 'But first…' or 'Love one another' or 'Expect the unexpected' or 'The power is up for grabs'? I don't think so,' Chen Moonves said. 'There are mixed emotions internally and externally about bringing back past players because they get a little bit jaded and they're more sophisticated, and some of them you don't want to bring back because they were difficult the first time around.' On Sunday, Chen Moonves celebrated the 25th anniversary with a sweet Instagram tribute. 'Twenty-five years ago, a new show arrived on our screens,' she penned. 'It was a social experiment like never before. We rooted for our favorites, watched epic blindsides, watched showmances blossom, were locked in for the live evictions, and so much more. So, thank you for these amazing 25 years of Big Brother. We wouldn't be here without all of you.' 10 Julie Chen Moonves during evictions on 'Big Brother.' 'Right now, I need to spend more time at home with my husband and young son,' Chen Moonves said on-air at the time. 'I know this show, and the sisterhood it stands for, will live on for many, many, many more years to come. You ladies got this, and I cannot be more proud to call you my friends.' After the scandal, the celeb began going by 'Julie Chen Moonves' instead of just 'Julie Chen' while hosting 'Big Brother.' Meet the cast of 'Big Brother 27'

Welcome, houseguests! That's right, we finally have names and photos for the latest batch of victims willing to lock themselves into a fake house on a studio lot for months on end for our amusement… well, that and a shot at $750,000. Which is to say, meet the cast of Big Brother season 27, everyone! The 16 new players entering the house on the 90-minute July 10 premiere include a professional bull rider, a dungeon master, a college sports podcaster, and an "aura painter." There is also an AI consultant… who probably would have come in handy last season dealing with the artificial intelligence nuisances that were Ainsley and Jankie. But the number of contestants competing for the $750,000 may not stop at 16. CBS has teased that a 'mystery houseguest' will be revealed on premiere night, and host Julie Chen Moonves told Entertainment Weekly that the individual will cause quite a splash. 'When I was told who this person is, I had to expect the unexpected!' Chen Moonves told EW. 'I never expected that person. And I was very excited because, in my opinion, getting that person is epic. And that person is also very polarizing. So there's going to be a strong reaction in both directions for this mystery houseguest.' Does that mean a former Big Brother player will be joining the new crop of contestants? Or perhaps it is a former reality TV contestant from another CBS franchise, like when Survivor star Cirie Fields showed up in the final minutes of the Big Brother 25 premiere in 2023. Or perhaps it is some other controversial figure entirely. But the mystery houseguest will not be all. The new players checking into Hotel Mystère will also be forced to contend with a 'masked visitor' and 'secret accomplice' that Chen Moonves promises will be 'very disruptive.' And the host also revealed in a video released by CBS that the three-nominee structure from last season will indeed be back. "Last year's BB AI Arena was so successful, we're bringing it back," says Chen Moonves in the video. "You'll never know who is going home because the houseguests will have a last minute chance to take themselves off the block with the BB Blockbuster." Check out the names, photos, and bios of the new cast before all hell breaks loose inside the house. And because we know you need more, we've also thrown in an introductory video from the Chenbot featuring the new players talking smack while also busting out some truly awkward chair dancing.
