Tang Jie-Ee Wei crash into Great Wall in Japan Open semi-final
KUALA LUMPUR: Hopes of a historic Super 750 final appearance were dashed for Malaysia's top mixed doubles pair, Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei, after they fell to China's Jiang Zhen Bang-Wei Ya Xin in the semi-finals of the Japan Open on Saturday. World No. 4 Tang Jie-Ee Wei were unable to sustain their momentum and went down 21-12, 21-16 in a one-sided clash at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium. The result saw world No. 2 Zhen Bang-Ya Xin extend their head-to-head record to 3-1 over the Malaysians. Despite the defeat, it was still a positive campaign for Tang Jie-Ee Wei, who improved on last year's showing, where they only made it as far as the quarter-finals.
