Broome County to complete 85 miles of roadwork in 2025

BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – Broome County is setting a new roadwork record for the fifth year in a row. The County announced that, for the fifth summer in a row, it is setting a new record for the amount of roadwork completed in a single season. Broome County Executive Jason Garnar and Deputy Commissioner of Public Works Chet Kupiec announced the Highway Division's 2025 roadwork season plan on Monday. The 2025 highway reconstruction and rehabilitation plan includes over 40 projects. Paving projects include 39 miles of roads, and road maintenance and pavement preservation work include 46 miles, a record total of 85 miles of roadways. In 2024, 84 miles of Broome County roads were fixed. In 2023, 83 miles were repaired. And in 2022, 72 miles were completed. Motorists are reminded to use caution in work zones, even when they are not active, as someroutes may be modified as construction progresses. Slowing down is always the most effectiveway to keep yourself and workers safe. Travelers may also want to give themselves extra time during commutes to accommodate for any detours or changes in traffic patterns. Weekly roadwork updates will be provided to help drivers plan their commute.
