When is the 2025 Chicago Pride Parade? Date, time, route, how to watch
As Pride Month enters its final days, the Windy City is set to culminate the month of celebrations with the Chicago Pride Parade on Sunday, June 29. Pride Month commemorates the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in New York City, when police raided the Stonewall Inn, a prominent gay bar in Manhattan's Greenwich Village. The subsequent protests are credited with a shift in LGBTQ+ activism in the U.S. Tens of thousands of people are expected to attend the parade in Chicago, which kicks off from the Northalsted neighborhood. The theme of this year's parade is United in Pride. Here is everything you need to know about the Chicago Pride Parade. When is the Chicago Pride Parade? The Chicago Pride Parade is scheduled for Sunday, June 29, 2025, starting at 11 a.m. CT. What is the Chicago Pride Parade route? The parade takes place on Chicago's North Side, starting at West Sheridan and Broadway. After departing, the parade will travel south on Broadway and Halsted, turn east on Belmont, and continue on Broadway to Diversey, where it will let out near Lincoln Park. Parade organizers released a map of Sunday's parade here. How to watch the Chicago Pride Parade Local station ABC7 will have a two-hour live parade broadcast. The broadcast will also be available on ABC7's connected TV apps on Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV, Roku and ABC News Live on Hulu. Another local station, NBC 5 Chicago, will broadcast footage from the parade live on the NBC Chicago App, the NBC 5 Chicago 24/7 streaming channel, as well as online. Community news: Doula workshop and extra South Shore trains for Pride Parade
A Purdue Extension Master Gardener Basic Training Course will be offered for residents of Lake County and surrounding areas from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fridays Aug. 15 through Dec. 5 at the Lake County Office, 2291 N. Main St., Crown Point. The Course is a volunteer training program designed to increase participants' knowledge on a wide variety of horticultural subjects. In turn, participants represent Purdue University as volunteers sharing their knowledge and service in educational gardening activities within their communities. Materials and expenses for the series of classes cost $190 per participant including a spiral-bound manual; $215 for a spiral-bound and digital manual. To accommodate an expected increase in ridership for the Chicago Pride Parade, the South Shore Line (SSL) will offer extra passenger trains on Sunday. In the morning, two westbound passenger extras will operate ahead of existing trains. These extra trains will not serve South Bend, Hudson Lake, Beverly Shores, Gary Metro Center, or Gary/Chicago Airport. Extra westbound trains will depart at Carroll Avenue at 7:24 and 8:27 a.m. In the afternoon, two eastbound passenger extra trains will provide additional service for riders leaving Chicago. The eastbound extras will serve Millennium and Van Buren St., run non-stop to Hegewisch and make all local stops terminating at Carroll Ave. These extra trains will not serve Museum Campus, 57th Street, Hudson Lake or South Bend. Extra eastbound trains will depart from Millennium Station at 3:20 p.m. and 4:57 p.m. As a reminder, the South Shore Line reserves the right to remove disorderly passengers. Alcohol is prohibited on all trains on Sunday. Please remember glass bottles are prohibited at all times. Doulas are trained professionals who provide continuous physical, emotional and informational support to their clients before, during and shortly after childbirth. A doula does not perform clinical tasks. The Franciscan Health Crown Point Family Birth Center offers free doula services to families through a volunteer doula program. Chicago joins the ranks of other buzzworthy Pride cities like Boston, Bogotá and Cologne, all seeing a swell in bookings as younger generations plan trips around parades, parties and unforgettable experiences. The data tracks bookings for late June, just in time for the city's big Pride festivities, including the iconic Chicago Pride Parade, which draws nearly a million people annually. Whether you wish to march or watch the festivities this year, here are a few spots around the country to get a glimpse of the most colorful Pride parades: One of the most iconic LGBTQ+ rights movements in the world, the New York City Pride parade has long been hailed as one of the finest in the world. The official website for the parade reads, 'NYC Pride's theme for 2025 - 'Rise Up: Pride in Protest' - honors the legacy of the very first Pride March in 1970, which commemorated the one-year anniversary of the Stonewall Riots.' The movement is a special one considering it hits the home of where the pride movement started back in 1969. Every year, marching contingents, game-changing grand marshals, local partners, and community allies march in a spectacular celebration of joy amid the fight for diversity and inclusion. The parade will start at noon at 25th Street and 5th Avenue, and subsequently head south and west through the Manhattan region. One of the most engaging and impactful parades in the Midwest, Chicago Pride is a joyous celebration of all things color and bright. 'The 54th annual Chicago Pride Parade steps off at 11 a.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2025, from Sheridan and Broadway in Chicago's landmark LGBTQ+ Northalsted neighborhood,' the official website states. 'The parade, featuring 150 colorful entries, will travel the 20-block parade route from Sheridan south on Broadway; then south on Halsted; then east on Belmont; then south on Broadway; then east on Diversey to Cannon Drive.' Following in the legacy of its predecessors, Chicago Pride 2025 promises to be as invigorating as ever. Entry to the event is free of charge. Los Angeles Pride, another must-see spectacle, is the 55th edition of the annual parade and will kick off at 11 AM local time from the Hollywood BLVD. Extra performances, music, and celebrity visits have been planned for the occasion, with actor Andrew Rannells stepping into the role of Celebrity Grand Marshal this year. The event can be watched for free in person or can be streamed live on ABC. The LA Pride Village, the event's performance street fair, promises to be bigger and better than ever before with scores of food trucks, stalls, vendors, and exhibitors to engage with. The theme for this year's pride parade in San Francisco is 'Queer Joy is Resistance' which serves as a unifying message for the community amidst troubling the troubling political climate people find themselves in currently. 'The theme serves as a reminder that the struggle for LGBTQ+ rights is ongoing and that the community must remain vigilant, engaged, and united in its pursuit of justice and equality,' the website says. The event will start at 12 PM at 99 Grove, San Francisco. Tickets are available for purchase at the organization's official website. The Capital Pride parade will start from 14th and T Streets NW and end at Pennsylvania Avenue and 9th Streets NW. Starting at 2 PM, the parade is scheduled to end somewhere around 8 PM at night. Those who wish to march in the parade can read the requirements for a marching contingent on the official website and even bring a certain pre-decided number of floats.
