Bobby Jenks' death has left former White Sox teammates ‘crushed'
Bobby Jenks' death has devastated his former White Sox teammates. The 44-year-old former closer, who finished off Chicago's 2005 World Series triumph, died Friday after a battle with adenocarcinoma, a form of stomach cancer. Ozzie Guillen, the manager of that '05 White Sox team, reacted to the news on the Chicago Sports Network. Advertisement 3 Former White Sox closer Bobby Jenks died Friday at the age of 44. TNS via Getty Images 'Everybody was crushed knowing this was gonna happen,' Guillen said. 'We didn't know how soon it was gonna be, but he was in very bad shape. When I heard the news this morning it was like, wow. Everything went through my mind, from the first time I met him to the last time I played golf with him last year.' Jenks, who had been living in Portugal to be near his wife's family, had planned a final autograph session in March as his condition was worsening. Advertisement 'Most of the players I'm talking to right now, they're crushed,' said Guillen, noting that former outfielder Timo Perez, who began his career with the Mets, called him after receiving the news. 3 Ozzie Guillen (r.) shared a photo of him and Bobby Jenks (l.) playing golf last year. Chicago Sports Network A.J. Pierzynski, the former White Sox catcher who jumped into Jenks' arms after they won the World Series, said, 'It's hard to fathom that Jenks won't be at next weekend's celebrations for the 20th anniversary of the championship. 'It's awful,' Pierzynski said on Chicago Sports Network. 'There's really no words to describe how sad and how destroyed you are when you think of Bobby being gone.' He spent six seasons with the White Sox before finishing his MLB career with the Red Sox in 2011. 3 AJ Pierzynski and Bobby Jenks of the Chicago White Sox celebrate after the final out of the 2005 World Series, with the White Sox sweeping the Houston Astros. NFL Fans Loving Annie Agar's Fourth Of July Swimsuit
NFL Fans Loving Annie Agar's Fourth Of July Swimsuit originally appeared on The Spun. Social media influencer Annie Agar went all out for the Fourth of July this year. Agar, an NFL correspondent for Chicago Sports Network, has built a loyal following on Instagram, TikTok and X over the past few years. Fans love when she does her weekly recaps during the season. She goes out of her way to mock the NFC North since she's a diehard fan of the Green Bay Packers. Prior to the 2025 NFL Draft, fans were truly worried about Agar because she was sporting a black eye. It turns out she fainted in her bathroom. "Guys, I'm OK. Thank you all for asking," Agar said. "Just in an extreme amounts of pain in my eyebrow and probably concussed. So other than that, everything's fine. The story is not that exciting. I drove home from St. Louis from my speech. I felt very dehydrated. I woke up the next day, felt super nauseous when I got up, walked to the bathroom and just passed out. I don't remember falling. I don't remember anything. I woke up with this (a black eye) and I think I drilled my head on either the corner of something or the floor. It was not fun – 10 out of 10 would not recommend." The good news is that Agar has fully recovered from her concussion and fractured nose. On Friday afternoon, Agar shared a photo of her wearing an American flag swimsuit along with the caption "don't feel too bad england, the week 1 bengals lost to the patriots too." Most of Agar's social media followers raved about her patriotic outfit. Others, however, were too busy laughing at her caption. "Absolute perfection," one fan commented. "God bless America," a second fan said. "Sorry, England. Beating you wasn't enough, so we're gonna make you watch the Jets play there every year," another fan wrote. "Thanks for the reminder," a social media user said. "Happy 4th of July!" This won't be the last time Agar goes viral this summer, that's for sure. That being said, NFL fans will have to wait until Week 1 to witness another hilarious press conference skit from Agar. Fans can check out Agar's work Fans Loving Annie Agar's Fourth Of July Swimsuit first appeared on The Spun on Jul 5, 2025 This story was originally reported by The Spun on Jul 5, 2025, where it first appeared.

Comcast Stock (NASDAQ:CMCSA) Gains With a New Sports Connection
Good news for Chicago sports fans who turn to communications giant Comcast (CMCSA) for their television. The deal has been made, and Chicago Sports Network access will be on Comcast now, as of today, at last report. The downside, though—and you knew there would be one—is that the costs will be on the rise. But good news was still good news, and Comcast shareholders sent shares upward modestly in Friday afternoon's trading. Confident Investing Starts Here: Yes, Chicago Sports Network will be on Comcast service, but it will only be on the Ultimate tier, which requires pretty much the highest level of subscription there is. Exact details of the agreement were not disclosed, but reports suggest that the Ultimate tier will add an extra $20 per month to customers' bills, on top of the $20.25 regional sports network fee being charged to Chicagoland subscribers. However, there is something of a plus here. Subscribers were getting a monthly credit of $8.85 from the loss of NBC Sports Chicago. For those basic subscribers that do not upgrade to the Ultimate tier and get access to Chicago Sports Network, the $8.85 credit will remain in place, and drop the regional sports fee to just $11.40 a month, which, all things considered, could be worse. Cybersecurity Advancements It may surprise you to note that Comcast actually has a cybersecurity arm, which is not all that surprising given its connection to online services. But it does, and that arm is known as DataBee. DataBee recently announced that it added new tools to its lineup, specifically the BluVector network detection and response (NDR) platform. BluVector uses artificial intelligence (AI) to search networks for evidence of a variety of potential failure points. These include ransomware, zero-day exploits, malware contained in memory, and more. It inspects packets at a rate of millions per second, which allows it to be used as a real-time threat detection mechanism. Is Comcast Stock a Good Buy Right Now? Turning to Wall Street, analysts have a Moderate Buy consensus rating on CMCSA stock based on nine Buys, 10 Holds and two Sells assigned in the past three months, as indicated by the graphic below. After a 12.17% loss in its share price over the past year, the average CMCSA price target of $40.86 per share implies 18.23% upside potential.

How to watch the Chicago White Sox in 2025: Schedule, broadcast info and blackout rules
The Chicago White Sox won the World Series in 2005. After the 4-0 sweep, Sox fans pulled out their flip phones and Sidekicks to call their adversaries, Chicago Cubs fans, and rub in the victory. But that was then. The White Sox made it to the divisional series in 2021 and haven't seen a playoff bid since. Last year's 121 losses and impossibly low expectations this year have been tough on South Siders' fans. But, they're loyal. Wrigley Field? No way. The fun happens at Rate Field, with its panaramoic views of the city, Craft Kave, the Kids Zone, statues of legends (Luis Aparicio, Harold Baines, Charles Comiskey, Carlton Fisk, Nellie Fox, Paul Konerko, Minnie Miñoso, Billy Pierce and Frank Thomas) and, of course, the Plumbers Shower. Advertisement It's hard to make every game though, and if you're a Chicagoan hoping to catch the action on TV, navigating your viewing options can become tedious. We're here to help with a guide to the new Chicago Sports Network, and national TV. Fubo is a cable-cutter streaming platform that provides local and national channels and add-on sports packages. Any game on Chicago Sports Network, ESPN, Fox, or MLB Network can be streamed on Fubo (more on those below). TBS games cannot. What you need to watch these games: The 'pro' plan starts at $84.99 monthly, with an extra charge for 4K ultra-HD. For more, there is the add-on, which streams every out-of-market game for $29.99 a month, and the Sports Lite package (with MLB Network) for $9.99 a month. Chicago Sports Network is the regional sports network (RSN) with exclusive rights to White Sox games that aren't nationally televised. The network took over after the team's NBC Sports Chicago contract ended in October 2024. CHSN coverage offers 'White Sox Countdown Live' and 'White Sox Postgame Live,' hosted by Chuck Garfien and Ozzie Guillén, manager for the 2005 World Series squad. Broadcaster Connor McKnight also hosts a show focused on Chicago's pipeline and minor league teams. Play-by-play announcer John Schriffen, analyst Steve Stone, and newcomers McKnight and Brooke Fletcher call the live games from the booth and the field. McKnight will also fill in for Schriffen from time to time. Gordon Beckham and three-time All-Star pitcher and MLB Network contributor Dan Plesac fill in as analysts. What you need to watch these games: Fubo, DirecTV Stream, CHSN app ESPN Chicago will air all regular-season games on the radio (remember that?) on AM-1000. The hometown radio broadcast can be found on FM-100.3 HD2, the ESPN Chicago app and the MLB app. The radio team includes Len Kasper on play-by-play and analyst Darrin Jackson. Jeff Meller will host pregame and postgame shows, along with 'White Sox Weekly,' a podcast and ESPN Chicago show. Héctor Molina (play-by-play) and Billy Russo (analyst) will be there for the Spanish-language broadcast for home games, available on secondary audio programming (SAP) and the MLB app. What you need: a radio, ESPN Chicago app, MLB app What you need to watch these games: A carrier that has the Chicago Sports Network All CHSN broadcasts can be found on the following providers: If you're looking for over-the-air action, you can find White Sox games on 62.2 and 63.3 at HD quality with an HD antenna. *Subscribers through DirecTV and Astound can stream games at no charge at MLB Network airs almost 300 local broadcasts for national audiences, so out-of-towners will find some White Sox games there. MLB Network also offers 26 unique, produced-in-house 'showcase' games not subject to local blackouts. The package gives you access to all regular-season games (excluding national and in-market games for your region). For a one-time cost of $150, you'll have access to all games and teams on Fubo has an add-on for $29.99 a month. What you need to watch these games: MLB Network for select games / for all of them The league has partnered with ESPN since 1990; that ends this fall. Yup, the purveyors of the iconic music are indeed opting out of their remaining baseball broadcasts. For this season, you may find select White Sox matchups here, but not during the first half of the season. ESPN has yet to announce the second-half games it will carry. Karl Ravech and Jon Sciambi are usually on the mic. Think Sundays, especially 'Sunday Night Baseball.' Advertisement Fox is where you'll hear Joe Davis or Adam Amin on the call. Former White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski, Cardinals great Adam Wainwright, 1992 Rookie of the Year Eric Karros, and Dontrelle Willis rotate in the booth. Three Hall-of-Famers are on this network: Derek Jeter and David Ortiz during the pregame and John Smoltz for color commentary. The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal can be seen reporting from the field, too. Fox usually has a Saturday spot. Unfortunately, Fox has no White Sox games on the docket, but you can catch the All-Star game on July 15. Former White Sox (now Red Sox) pitcher Garrett Crochet made the team in 2024 as the lone South Sider. This is the national Tuesday action, and TBS games can also be streamed on Max. But you won't find the White Sox there during the first half of the season. There's always the second half, right? The purple metropolis now has 'MLB Sunday Leadoff' games free from blackout restrictions. No Sox games slated yet, though. It's getting repetitive, isn't it? Similarly, there are no national looks or this Chicago team on Apple TV's Friday night slot. In general, think Apple TV on Friday, Fox on Saturday, ESPN on Sunday, with those games blacked out for local viewers. If you're a local viewer, at least there are no blackouts. Streaming and Betting/Odds links in this article are provided by partners of The Athletic. Restrictions may apply. The Athletic maintains full editorial independence. Partners have no control over or input into the reporting or editing process and do not review stories before publication. (Photo of Rate Field: Matt Dirksen / Getty Images)
