Shake Shack offers free chicken sandwiches every Sunday in July
Shake Shack is helping customers get more bang for their buck this July. In celebration of National Fried Chicken Day, the New York City–based chain is offering a free Chicken Shack sandwich with a $10 minimum purchase every Sunday from July 6 through July 27, according to an announcement on its website. The deal applies to qualifying orders placed at in-Shack kiosks, through the Shake Shack mobile app or online at and must be fulfilled at participating U.S. locations. To redeem the offer, customers must use the promo code CHICKENSUNDAY at checkout with the chain noting that the code is case-sensitive and must be entered in all caps. The promotion is not valid for drive-thru orders, third-party delivery apps or at Shake Shack locations in airports, stadiums, arenas, museums or travel plazas. The announcement added that the $10 minimum must be met with food or beverage purchases such as burgers, fries, hot dogs, shakes or drinks excluding the free Chicken Shack, taxes, fees or gift card purchases. The offer also excludes BBQ chicken sandwiches, chicken bites and paid add-ons like avocado or bacon. Only one free Chicken Shack is allowed per order, and the deal cannot be combined with other promotions. This new July offer follows the chain's May promotion for National Hamburger Month, where Shake Shack gave away a different single burger each week with a $10 minimum purchase, through the beginning of June.

I Tried Shake Shack's New Fried Pickles & Have BIG Feelings
You know what's absolutely shocking? Shake Shack only has a single side dish (crinkle-cut fries) on its menu. And it's been that way since the chain first opened 20 years ago. But that's about to change—for the first time ever, Shake Shack is introducing a new side to its menu. While you may have previously enjoyed the chain's fried pickles atop its Carolina BBQ Burger (another limited-time menu item), this marks the first time customers can order up a side of fried pickles to enjoy alongside any of the Shack's delicious handhelds. The catch? This option will only be available throughout the summer. And let me tell you, you're going to want to get your greedy fingers all over these. The fried pickles are made with the brand's own dill pickles (the same ones you'll find on many of its burgers) and proprietary brine, and are coated in a seasoned, fried batter, served alongside house-made Shack Ranch for dipping. The seasoning on the fried pickles might taste familiar—it's the same stuff you'll find on the Chicken Shack and is every bit as delicious when surrounding a pickle. One of the chefs in Shake Shack's Innovation Kitchen calls them a "warm pickle explosion," and I agree, they're dill-licious. These fried pickles have all the elements that take a fried pickle from good to great. There's a tangy bite of acid, a slight hint of heat, a substantial crunch, and, of course, fresh dill pickle flavor. Not only is the flavor perfectly executed, but the outer fried breading holds up extremely well—my fried pickles never got soggy, even over the 20 minutes that I kept going back for more, even after my full stomach kept telling me to stop. The ranch sauce provides a creamy juxtaposition to the crunchiness of the pickles and only adds to the overall dish. (I say this as someone who doesn't even really like ranch!) Now, this isn't my first foray into fried pickles. Like any New Yorker, I've paired the addictive snack with many a sports-viewing outing. I even recently got my hands on Popeyes' new fried pickles and, for that matter, its whole pickle menu. While I liked the chicken chain's version just fine, Shake Shack's takes the snack to the next level. Honestly, after what's sure to be a 10 out of 10 fan reaction, I wouldn't be surprised if (hot take incoming!) no one ever orders the fries again. At $3.99, the fried pickles are available beginning May 20 throughout the summer. And yes, it must be said: they're kind of a big dill. Shake Shack first-ever combo meal: Here's what you can get for $9.99
Shake Shack first-ever combo meal: Here's what you can get for $9.99 Show Caption Hide Caption Subway and McDonald's debut new value menus Fast food companies resolved to lower prices in the New Year, with Subway and McDonalds unveiling menu changes this week. Cheddar Shake Shack is jumping on the value meal bandwagon temporarily, offering customers its first-ever combo meal through March 15. The New York City-based restaurant chain, like Five Guys, is one of a few fast-food joints that still sells menu items separately. Until now. Shake Shack is taking out a page from its competitors' playbook by extending the $9.99 meal deal, which features the Chicken Shack sandwich, crinkle cut fries and a small soda at locations nationwide for the next two weeks. To celebrate its first-ever combo meal, Shake Shack is embarking on a social media search for someone to bring its first mascot, Chickette, to life. Here's what to know about Shake Shack's first-ever combo meal, including how to get it. Value meal wars continue in 2025: See deals at McDonald's, Burger King, more Shake Shack takes cues from competitors A number of Shake Shack's competitors in the fast food game, including McDonald's, Burger King and Wendy's, have offered and continue to offer their own take on the value meal. Value meals were a way for fast food chains to cater to consumers concerned about inflation and higher food prices. These budget-friendly meals have become a mainstay as a result of increasing food prices. Fast food chains weren't the only ones to embrace the approach. At the start of the new year, Outback Steakhouse offered an Aussie 3-Course Meal for $14.99, and convenience store chain Circle K began to offer $3, $4 and $5 meal deals. Food away from home has increased 3.6% over the 12-month period ending in December 2024, compared to a 2.5% increase for all food and a 2.9% increase in all items, according to the Labor Department's consumer price index. Limited-service meals have risen slightly higher (3.7%) than full-service meals at 3.7%. "Consumers are continuing to feel the sting of inflation and so more than half of Americans are eating out less than they used to," Christopher Hydock, a professor at Tulane University's School of Business, who specializes in consumer experience and retail pricing, previously told USA TODAY. Hydock highlighted trend data from CivicScience, market researcher, which found 59% of the 1,535 U.S. adults surveyed in October 2024 said they had dined out less often in the previous six months, with many spending more on groceries so they could eat at home. "With less customers eating out, restaurants are forced to compete for fewer customers which forces them to find ways to differentiate their offerings," Hydock said. "Since price is also increasingly a concern for customers, value meals are one logical way of doing so." Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle. Shake Shack's first-ever combo meal: How to get it In order to redeem the $9.99 Shake Shack combo meal, customers must add each individual menu item to their cat when ordering at the kiosk in-restaurant or on the Shake Shack app/website and enter the code "CHICKEN" at checkout. The promotion is only valid for qualifying orders placed in-Shack through a kiosk or for pick-up or delivery on the Shake Shack Mobile App or via at participating Shake Shack locations. It may only be applied once per order. Shake Shack's promotional offer excludes any other paid add-ons like Avocado Bacon Chicken, Chicken Bites, cheese fries, bacon cheese fries, limited time offering fries, large soda, core & limited time offer shakes, core & limited time offer lemonades and iced teas.
