Frappuccino perfume from Starbucks is now available in Japan… but you can't buy it

Select customers will be able to wear the peachy scent of this heavenly limited-edition beverage. As summer continues its energy-zapping onslaught in Japan, Starbucks continues to keep us hydrated with new limited-edition releases, and its latest offering is particularly peachy, with not one but three new drinks filled with the flavour of peaches. Dubbed 'Three Happy Peaches', this release has something for everyone, starting with the 'Heavenly Peach Frappuccino' (Tall size only, 707 yen [US$4.77] for takeout; 720 yen for eat-in). Since its local debut in 2015, Starbucks' peach-flavoured Frappuccino has been a huge hit every summer, but this year the Heavenly Peach Frappuccino takes things to the next level with an even softer and more 'meltingly sweet' profile to enhance the ripe and juicy flavours. The base of the drink blends white peach puree with ice for sweet richness, while peach pieces evoke the sensation of biting into the fruit. Finished with peach sauce and peach-flavoured powder atop a mound of whipped cream, this drink will deliver fresh fruit flavours from the very first sip to the last, acting as a heavenly temptation for summer. ▼ The second drink in the lineup is the 'Chillax Soda Peach' (Tall-Venti; 579-680 yen) The recently introduced Chillax series, which combines fruit with fizz and a specially made green citrus syrup, was born under the concept of 'a scented soda to lighten your mood'. With hints of lemon, lime, and grapefruit in the syrup, the ripe peach adds a sweet contrast, creating a bubbly beverage that'll melt away your summer fatigue and leave you feeling enlivened and refreshed. ▼ The final beverage is the 'Craft Juicy Peach Tea' (Tall-Venti; 618-720 yen) This drink pairs chunky, juicy peach pieces with a moderately astringent black tea for a simple yet luxurious combination that showcases the natural ingredients. The size of the fruit chunks has been carefully planned so you can feel their texture in every mouthful, and out of all three drinks in the lineup, this is the one that contains the most peach pieces. To help drum up extra excitement for the three-peach release, Starbucks is holding a special Twitter campaign where 30 people will be selected by lottery to win a two-millilitre (0.07-ounce) bottle of the chain's original Heavenly Peach Frappuccino Fragrance. Simply follow Starbucks' Japan's official Twitter account and repost the campaign tweet with the hashtag '#ヘブンリーピーチフラペチーノ' ('heavenly peach frappuccino'), along with your expectations for the product for a chance to win. ▼ Entrants must be in Japan and entries will be accepted from 11:00 a.m. on 30 July to 11:59 p.m. on 1 August. Though the fragrance isn't available for sale right now, the fact that it exists gives us high hopes that we might be able to purchase it in future. For now, though, we'll have to make do with drinking the Frappuccino instead of wearing it, and if it tastes as good as the strawberries, mangoes, and grapes that came before it, we'll be very happy customers. Vijay Antony: A good script takes care of every shortcoming in a film

On choosing to work with a director, Vijay Antony says he would go for the nature of the person rather than just their technical prowess. "Leo impressed me on that front as well. You may be a knowledgeable person with avant-garde technical knowledge at your fingertips, but if you aren't well-behaved, the film will not progress the way it was envisioned. If you are ill-tempered and respond rudely, it will have a huge impact on the actors. I am pretty sure actors in such sets will not give their best," he says, adding, "Also, I loved that Leo wrote only the things that he wanted to shoot. I am not a fan of directors who write unnecessarily or shoot unnecessarily. I will not call someone a director who doesn't know where to stop and is not sure about what resources they require." Vijay Antony had already said he would again start composing for films he is not starring in. With a long list of hit albums to his name, the actor-composer believes he can still dust himself off and make such music palatable to the current generation. "I view the reduction of the number of songs and the revamp of commercial filmmaking sensibilities as healthy. Now if you are just going to give me 2 or 3 songs instead of 5 or 6, I can invest more energy in those songs and bring out my best. I don't think I have a lot of catching up to do. Having said that, I need to enhance my knowledge in AI; it can do a lot to help in improving my efficiency," he charts out his plans to reinvent the composer in him, adding that he seconds AR Rahman's view that the composers today aren't sufficiently working on songs that adhere to classical aesthetics. "Knowing ragas will enable you to innovate your compositions. That is the reason why I would have used Carnatic music even in songs that least require it, such as 'Nenjakootil' and 'Chillax.' Having said that, I would also like to add that learning Western music is equally essential because with Classical, you may gain mastery over three or four instruments, but to conduct an orchestra on a huge canvas, like, say, involving 1000 musicians, a grasp of Western music is non-negotiable."

My re-entry through Anju Vanna Poove has opened many doors: Charulatha Mani

Although I left the country and was absent for eight years, the songs I sang have had a life of their own, says Charulatha Mani. Playback singer and classical musician Charulatha Mani is elated with the love coming her way for Thug Life's Anju Vanna Poove . Charulatha, who has notable songs like Chillax (from Velayudham ) and Kannukkul Pothivaippen (from Thirumanam Ennum Nikkah ) in her discography, talks to us about collaborating with AR Rahman, relocating to Chennai from Australia, aspirations to compose and act, and more… 'ALTHOUGH I WAS ABSENT FOR EIGHT YEARS, MY SONGS HAVE HAD A LIFE OF THEIR OWN' I left India in 2015 to go to Australia. There, I did my PhD in Western opera and Carnatic music. My postdoctoral fellowship was on lullabies. My project was with refugee and migrant mothers, and they would sing lullabies and share their experiences of overcoming challenges in life. Little did I know then that I'd sing a lullaby for Rahman sir in such a film. So, life has come full circle. Although I left the country and was absent for eight years, the songs I sang have had a life of their own. That's important for a singer. As there are many talented voices, it's easy for someone to fall by the wayside if they're not given that love from the fans. And my reentry through this song has opened many doors for me. 'WHEN I SAW MANI SIR IN THE STUDIO, I WAS HAPPY I WAS SINGING FOR HIS FILM' On my YouTube channel, I talk about classical ragas and film songs. While I was in Australia, I got an email from Rahman sir asking, 'Where are you these days? I've been following your YouTube videos.' Then, he asked for my number; we spoke about ragas and my research. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like CVS Is Fuming Over New 87¢ Generic Viagra — See Why Health Alliance by Friday Plans Learn More Undo After that, when I came here to sing during the music season in December, we met and recorded Anju Vanna Poove . I just went to say 'Hello', and he didn't inform me that there was a recording. It was a pleasant surprise. I didn't know which film the song was for. But when I saw Mani sir in the studio, I realised it was for a Mani Ratnam film and felt happy. My reentry through Thug Life has opened many doors for me. ' ANJU VANNA POOVE IS A RARE GEM THAT YOU GET IN YOUR CAREER' Mani sir and Rahman sir guided me on an emotional journey because the song has a sense of chaos, childhood, and peace. It's a mélange of emotions. A song like Anju Vanna Poove is a rare gem that you get in your career, as it's a solo, and it's for Rahman sir. He used to sing a line, and I repeated his intonation and expression. But there was a point when we wanted to amplify the emotion. So, I brought in a vocal ornamentation technique called the tremolo that I learnt in Italian opera during my PhD. It is a technique used to elicit an emotional and dramatic response from the audience. When I threw that in, Rahman sir said that technique is working here. The vision for Anju Vanna Poove was entirely Rahman sir's, and I realised the vision to the best of my ability. 'WHEN I STUDIED OPERA, THEY TAUGHT ACTING ALONG WITH SINGING' One of the beautiful traits about Indian ragas is that they sound great when fused with Western sensibilities. I'd love to explore that as a composer. People before me have already done it beautifully. But what I want to put out would be from my personal perspective. We all have a story to tell as an artiste. I would even be interested in acting. When I studied opera, they taught singing with acting. To perform opera is to sing and act. Nowadays, we can also look beyond stereotypical roles in cinema. There are interesting storylines and characters on screen. 'I stand on the shoulders of giants like Bombay Jayashri' Charulatha says, 'Often, in films, there's stereotyping of the vocal technique that a Carnatic artiste produces. But that has been broken over the years. I stand on the shoulders of giants like Bombay Jayashri. When Vaseegara came out, little did anyone know that a Carnatic singer could sing such a song and elevate it to a different level. So, she has been an influential part of my life.'
