I Love Chipolo's Android-Friendly Alternative to AirTags, and They're on Sale for Amazon Prime Day
Amazon Prime Day sale: You can find great deals on just about everything during Amazon's Prime Day event, including the Chipolo One Point trackers. Right now on Amazon, they're 15% off, making one tag $24, and a four-pack $75. You can find better deals directly from Chipolo's website, but they're currently showing as out of stock. This is likely to be a limited-time deal, so we suggest ordering your new trackers now to ensure you get these prices. We're big fans of Apple's AirTag item trackers -- they're handy for tracking everything from keys to cars. But if you're an Android user, there's no use spending your money on an incompatible AirTag. However, Apple is far from the only company that makes Bluetooth trackers, and Android users have some options that are just as good. I especially like the One Point, which Chipolo released in 2024. The One Point is a Bluetooth tracker that uses Google's own crowdsourced Find My Device network of over 1 billion Android devices. It works in a similar way to Apple's Find My network to help you easily locate your keys, wallet, luggage, backpack, car or other items that are easy to misplace. Hey, did you know? CNET Deals texts are free, easy and save you money. Taking advantage of Google's tracking network means besides using your own phone to locate the One Point tracker -- with the Find My Device app -- you can tap into all the other Android devices around you, from friends and strangers alike (completely privately), to better track your item, no matter where it is or how far from the item you are. For more, here's why you shouldn't put an AirTag on a pet and five unexpected places to use a tracker. How does the Chipolo One Point tracker work? The tiny plastic tracker, which weighs relatively nothing, is about an inch and a half in diameter, roughly the size of those old Eisenhower dollar coins (I'm showing my age). Unlike the Apple AirTag, the One Point also has a built-in keyring hole, so you don't need to buy an accessory to clip the tracker to your item. All you need is a key ring. This is the Chipolo One Point tracker on my keychain. Nelson Aguilar/CNET Once your One Point is connected to your phone, you can check the location of your tracked item with Google's Find My Device app. You can easily see where the tracker is on a map, and your distance from it. If you can't find the tracker with your eyes, you can always force it to make a pretty loud sound (120db), so that you can easily hear where it is, even if it's under a pile of clothing. The battery life is about a year, but you can easily open the tracker (there's a tiny hole on the side) to replace the CR2032 battery. You can buy a 10-pack of CR2032 batteries for $6, and Chipolo says that should last you a decade. If you're placing your tracker on something shared, like a large piece of check-in luggage for you and your family, you can share the information with a loved one so that you can both keep an eye on the tracker from separate Android devices. Why this deal matters Taking advantage of Google's tracking network means that besides using your own phone to locate the One Point tracker -- with the Find My Device app -- you can tap into all the other Android devices around you, from friends and strangers alike (completely privately), to better track your item, no matter where it is or how far from the item you are. Doing all that while saving money is just an added bonus. Why should you get the Chipolo One Point over the AirTag? There's really only one reason why you should get the Chipolo One Point tracker, and that's if you own an Android device. The Chipolo One Point is made specifically for Android phones and tablets and works with Google's Find My Device app. If you own an Android, you definitely don't want an AirTag, mainly because there's no way to connect an AirTag to an Android device. If you've got a mix of Apple and Android devices, there are also a few other reasons to choose the Chipolo One over an AirTag: The Chipolo One is cheaper than the AirTag . 'I've never lost luggage with Apple Air tags available at cheap price for Amazon Prime Day'
Bluetooth trackers, the minuscule tech devices that allow you to monitor the whereabouts of your possessions, whether it's suitcases, handbags, wallets, or passports, are becoming increasingly popular. Apple's well-liked AirTag has seen a price drop thanks to an early Amazon Prime Day discount - it's a product I always recommend to my friends and family, having used it on trips to France, New York, Italy, and Botswana. Apple's AirTag utilises the Apple Find My Network, enabling users to track its movements. Normally priced at €40.54 for one, it's currently available for €32.42 on Amazon. This early 2025 Prime Day discount makes it more affordable than on Apple's own website, reports the Mirror. The trackable device is straightforward to set up for iOS users. Once the AirTag is activated, simply bring it close to your iPhone or iPad and a 'connect' notification will appear. Then assign a name to it (which is what you'll be tracking) and register it with your Apple ID. I did this back in 2022, and since using an AirTag for travel, I've never misplaced my luggage. The AirTag emits a personal network that can be detected by other nearby AirTag users. It will send its location to these users who can then share the location with you, anonymously. Apple aficionados may already be familiar with the 'Find My' app, and the AirTag is tracked in a similar manner to how you'd locate a misplaced phone during the 'Find My iPhone' era. With the Find My app, I can instantly see where my bags are and when they were last at that location - a feature I find particularly useful when boarding a plane, as it allows me to check if my luggage has been loaded. However, AirTags do have a drawback for many travellers and mobile users, as they are exclusive to iOS, leaving Android users out in the cold. This is where competing devices like the Tile tag and select models from the Chipolo brand can prove beneficial. Chipolo, Tile and Samsung alternatives The Tile by Life360 is available for purchase on Amazon for €40.53. A slight uptick compared to the currently discounted AirTag. Like the AirTag, it also tracks items it's attached to via an app, but instead of immediately seeing the tracker's location upon opening the app (as with the AirTag), you have to select 'location history'. I've previously put the Tile tracker head-to-head with the AirTag while jetting off on holiday, and it does provide a slightly more accurate location on the map, offering a view of nearby shops and attractions that iOS lacks. Another alternative is Chipolo. The Chipolo Card Spot, which is only compatible with iPhones, is currently reduced to €22 and offers a slimmer option that can easily fit into purses and wallets. During a recent getaway, I took the opportunity to trial Chipolo's CARD Spot. Its slender design, akin to a bank card, is ideal for tucking into a wallet, passport, or ID, much like the Tile by Life360 or Eufy SmartTrack Card. However, I chose to pop it in my suitcase pocket for tracking during my flight. There's a snag, though, as it relies solely on Apple's Find My network, not its own app. Retailing at €24.32 in the sale, the CARD Spot offers features that distinguish it from the AirTag and Tile pack. But, if you're an Android user, this gadget won't be suitable due to its lack of compatibility. Prime Day: Price drop for Apple AirTag branded a 'life-saver' by frequent flyer
Bluetooth trackers, the tiny tech gadgets that let you track the every move of the belongings they're attached to - from suitcases, to handbags, wallets, and passports - can be a life saver. Apple's popular AirTag has dropped to one of the cheapest prices it has been thanks to an early Amazon Prime Day discount - and it's one I recommend to all my friends and family having used it travelling on trips to France, New York, Italy and Botswana. Apple's AirTag uses the Apple Find My Network which allows users to track its every move, reports The Mirror. Usually just under €40 for one, it's now available for €32.78 on Amazon. The early 2025 Prime Day discount makes it cheaper than Apple's own site. The trackable gadget is simple to set up for iOS users. Once the AirTag has been opened, simply move it near to your iPhone or iPad and it'll appear with a 'connect' notification. Then choose a name for it (which is what you track) and register it with your Apple iD. I did this back in 2022, and since using an AirTag to travel I've never lost my luggage. The AirTag emits a personal network that can be detected by other AirTag users within close proximity to the tag. It will ping its location to nearby users who can then share the location with you, anonymously. Apple users may already be well aware of the 'Find My' app, and the AirTag is tracked similarly to if you were to look for a lost phone in the 'Find My iPhone' days. On the Find My app, I can see straight away where my bags are and how long ago they've been in that location - a feature I find great to check when boarding the plane; I always see if my bags have been loaded too. AirTags do have a limitation for many travellers and mobile users, as they are iOS only, so Android users miss out. This is where rival devices like the Tile tag and select models from the brand Chipolo can come in handy. As we highlight below. The Tile by Life360 is available to buy on Amazon for €40.76, a slight increase to the current price of the on-sale AirTag. It also tracks belongings its attached to with an app, but instead of opening it up and seeing the location of the tracker straight away (like with the AirTag) you have to click 'location history'. I've previously used the Tile tracker up against the AirTag while flying on holiday, and it does offer a slightly more precise location on the map, with a view of nearby shops and attractions iOS doesn't have. Another option is Chipolo. The Chipolo Card Spot, which only works with iPhones, is currently available on Amazon for €33 and it offers a slimmer alternative that can be slotted into purses and wallets. During a recent holiday, I decided to put Chipolo's CARD Spot to the test. Its slim design, like a bank card, is perfect for slipping into a wallet, passport, or ID, similar to the Tile by Life360 or Eufy SmartTrack Card, though I opted to place it in my suitcase pocket for tracking during my flight. It comes with a catch, though, as it operates solely on Apple's Find My network, not its own app. The CARD Spot boasts features that set it apart from the AirTag and Tile pack. However, if you're an Android user, this gadget won't be suitable as it lacks compatibility. The Apple AirTag is available on for €32.78. Apple AirTag hits record low price in Amazon Prime Day sale so you never lose your bags again
Apple's AirTag, which can be attached to luggage, is currently on sale at Amazon for its lowest ever price Bluetooth trackers, the tiny tech devices that allow you to keep tabs on your belongings' every move, are gaining popularity. These useful gadgets can be attached to anything from suitcases and handbags to wallets and passports. One such device, Apple's AirTag, has seen a significant price reduction thanks to an early Amazon Prime Day discount. Having used it on their travels to France, New York, Italy, and Botswana, the Mirror's commerce editor Harriet Morphy-Morris highly recommends it to friends and family. The AirTag uses Apple's Find My Network, allowing users to track its movements continuously. Usually priced at £35 per tag, it is currently available for just £26.60 on Amazon, making it cheaper than buying directly from Apple. Setting up this trackable gadget is simple for iOS users. Once the AirTag is activated, simply bring it close to your iPhone or iPad, and a 'connect' notification will appear. You can then assign a name to your AirTag and register it with your Apple ID. Harriet did this back in 2022, and since using an AirTag for travel, she has never misplaced their luggage. The AirTag emits a unique network signal that can be detected by other nearby AirTag users. It sends its location to these users, who can then anonymously share the location with you. Apple enthusiasts may already be acquainted with the 'Find My' app, and the AirTag functions similarly to tracking a misplaced phone during the 'Find My iPhone' era. With the Find My app, Harriet said they can instantly see the location of their bags and when they were last there - particularly useful when boarding a plane, as it allows her to confirm whether their luggage has been loaded. AirTags do present a limitation for many travellers and mobile users, as they are exclusive to iOS, leaving Android users out in the cold. This is where competing devices such as the Tile tag and select models from Chipolo prove beneficial, as we outline below. There are alternatives from Chipolo, Tile and Samsung. The Tile by Life360 is available for purchase on Amazon at £34.99, a slight increase compared to the currently discounted AirTag. Like the AirTag, it also tracks items it's attached to via an app, but instead of immediately displaying the tracker's location upon opening (as with the AirTag), you have to select 'location history'. Harriet has previously compared the Tile tracker with the AirTag while travelling, and it does provide a slightly more accurate location on the map, including nearby shops and attractions that iOS doesn't display. Another alternative is Chipolo. The Chipolo Card Spot, which is compatible only with iPhones, is currently reduced to £19 and offers a slimmer option that can easily fit into purses and wallets. Tech deal of the week It's that time of year where we are looking for ways to keep cool amidst the balmy, summer days. One item shoppers are raving over is this DDKJ Neck Fan that can be used to keep cool when commuting, at work or in the home. Even better, it costs just £26.98 on Amazon. With certain parts of the UK set to reach sweltering 35C, it's handy that this neck fan comes with a rose gold cooling plate around the neck curve that is said to "feel like an ice cube", dropping temperatures to just 15C in as little as one second. Boasting an ergonomic, wearable design, it features two bladeless fans that are safe to wear, with five different speed settings that provide a cooling effect on the head, neck and sides. It's also quite smart thanks to a LED digital display that makes the operation easy and convenient, while the built-in 5500mAh large capacity rechargeable battery features a fast charging chip that ensures a full charge within just 2.5-3hrs. Numerous shoppers who have bagged the neck fan say it is a "godsend" and a "lifesaver" for the heatwave, with one writing: "This is easy to wear when sitting or walking generally. Works fast and never needed it on anything but the lowest setting! At my time of life it is a lifesaver, especially through the heatwave we experienced." Keep cool amidst the rising temperatures with the DDKJ Neck Fan with Cooling Plate on Amazon for £26.98 During a recent holiday, Harriet decided to test out the CARD Spot by Chipolo. Its slim design, similar to a bank card, makes it perfect for slipping into a wallet, passport, or ID, much like the Tile by Life360 or Eufy SmartTrack Card. However, Harriet opted to tuck it into her suitcase pocket for tracking during her flight. It's important to note that it relies solely on Apple's Find My network and doesn't have its own app. Currently on sale for £21, the CARD Spot offers features that set it apart from rivals such as AirTag and Tile. It's worth mentioning that this gadget may not be suitable for Android users due to compatibility issues. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community!
