Fever adds roster depth amid Caitlin Clark injury
The post Fever adds roster depth amid Caitlin Clark injury appeared first on ClutchPoints. With an unclear timetable for Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark, as she deals with a groin injury suffered on July 15, the team has made an addition to the roster in the form of Chloe Bibby. As the injury to the Fever star in Clark is still not clear, the team is hoping to get a spark from Bibby, who has an interesting background. Bibby's signing would be announced by the team themselves on their X, formerly Twitter, account, saying that she was signed to a seven-day contract. She had played five games this season with the Golden State Valkyries, where she averaged 6.4 points and 2.8 rebounds per game while shooting 40.7 percent from the field and 42.1 percent from beyond the arc. 'The Indiana Fever have signed Australian forward Chloe Bibby to a seven-day contract, the team announced today,' the team said in a statement released. Bibby would be waived on June 30 from Golden State, but she could be best known for her time playing for the Australian national team in the 2025 Women's Asia World Cup, winning the gold medal. She has also played overseas in Poland and Spain, being the MVP of their respective leagues. Caitlin Clark's timetable is uncertain for the Fever The Fever superstar in Clark had to miss the All-Star game because of the groin injury, where there is currently an expectation on when a possible return will take place. Indiana would release a statement on Thursday, saying that while there are no additional problems with Clark, 'there is no timetable available' for the return of the phenomenon. 'Following a July 15 injury to her right groin, Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark underwent further medical evaluations earlier this week,' the team's statement read. 'The team can confirm that no additional injuries or damage were discovered through the evaluations.' 'Clark will continue working with the Fever medical team on her recovery and rehabilitation, with the priority on her long-term health and well-being,' the statement continued. 'There is no timetable available for Clark's return, and no additional details will be provided at this time. Any further updates will be shared as they become available.' At any rate, the Fever are currently 13-12, which puts them sixth in the WNBA and third in the Eastern Conference, as their next contest is against the Chicago Sky on Sunday afternoon. Fever's latest addition breaks silence on joining team
The post Fever's latest addition breaks silence on joining team appeared first on ClutchPoints. Newly signed Indiana Fever forward Chloe Bibby spoke Saturday about joining the team on a seven-day contract, marking her return to the WNBA after a brief stint earlier this season with the Golden State Valkyries. Bibby formally signed with the Fever on Friday and expressed her enthusiasm for the opportunity. 'I'm really excited,' Bibby said. 'I had some stint there at Golden State, it was a great time. So, yeah [I] went over [and] played with Australia, won gold there and that was great so just to be back in the W and have another crack is exciting and really grateful for this opportunity here with the Fever – just excited.' Bibby, 27, appeared in five games with the Valkyries, averaging 6.4 points and 2.8 rebounds while shooting 40.7% from the field and 42.1% from three-point range in 13.2 minutes per game. She was waived on June 30. Chloe Bibby adjusts quickly after international success, eyes impact with short-handed Fever She most recently competed with the Australian national team at the 2025 FIBA Women's Asia Cup, helping them win gold while averaging eight points, 6.2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game. Bibby has also played professionally overseas, earning MVP honors in Poland and logging time in Spain. Adjusting to her new team, Bibby credited the Fever for making the transition smooth. 'Everyone's been super great, really helpful so just kind of taking my stride right now at one step at a time, but everyone's been super helpful so it's a good transition for me,' she said. Bibby also reflected on her impression of the Fever while playing against them earlier in the season. 'Obviously, a really physical team – tough, fast paced, and I like that style so that suits me a lot. Fast paced, shoots the three ball, and that's exactly what I do so hopefully I can find my strides here,' she said. The Fever (13-12) are currently playing without star Caitlin Clark, who remains out with a groin injury. Indiana is coming off an 87-70 win over the Las Vegas Aces on Thursday, their third straight victory. Indiana will look to continue its momentum on Sunday when it visits the Chicago Sky (7-17) at the United Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. ET, with national television coverage on ABC. Chloe Bibby 'super grateful' to be back in WNBA. How Fever will use her to help Aliyah Boston
INDIANAPOLIS – Chloe Bibby was in China when she received word earlier this week the Indiana Fever were signing her to a seven-day contract. The 6-foot forward already had a few things packed for the trip from San Francisco, so instead of going back to her native Australia, she returned to America, making it to Indianapolis in time for the Fever's practice Saturday afternoon. "It all happened pretty fast, but I'm super grateful," said Bibby, who will likely make her Fever debut Sunday at Chicago (3 p.m., ABC). "To be back in the W and to have another crack is really exciting. … I'm taking it all in stride right now and going one step at a time, but everyone's been super helpful. It's been a good transition." Bibby began the season with the Golden State Valkyries, appearing in two preseason games before re-signing with the team on June 15. She appeared in five games during that second stint, averaging 6.4 points and 2.8 rebounds, and shooting 42% (8-for-19) from 3. Her best game of the season came against the Fever, wherein she scored 12 points with three rebounds over a season-high 24 minutes. Bibby was waived by Golden State on June 30. The former Mississippi State Bulldog and Maryland Terrapin helped her national team, the Australia Opals, win gold at the FIBA Women's Asia World Cup earlier this month, averaging 8 points and 6.2 rebounds. Coach Stephanie White said Bibby's size and ability to stretch the floor and create space inside for Aliyah Boston will be beneficial for the Fever, who had an open roster spot after beginning the season with just 11 players because of salary cap restrictions. "She came in, she studied the offense and she's been good." "It's a challenge any time you're integrating a new player midseason, but I think at the position she'll play for us — that stretch 4, middle of the floor — there's not a lot of nuance to how we'll use her," White said. "We'll shorten the playbook a bit, make it specific to ways that we can continue to stretch the floor when we put her out there with AB." For her part, Bibby said Indiana's "fast-pace, shoot the 3-ball" offense suits her style quite well. She just needs to "bring some energy," play with tempo and try to find her shots within the offense. "I'm getting to know the girls and (developing) chemistry," Bibby added. "It takes time, but we're trying to build that quickly." Asked if things are beginning to slow down for her following the journey from San Francisco to China to Indianapolis, Bibby smiled and responded: "I'm feeling a little bit settled now. I have had a lot of sleep, which is great, so I think I've gotten over the jet lag."

Indiana Fever sign Chloe Bibby amid Caitlin Clark injury absence
As Caitlin Clark continues to rehab a right groin injury, the Indiana Fever added to their roster. Indiana signed Australian forward Chloe Bibby on Friday morning to a seven-day contract. Bibby, 27, played in five games across two stints with the Golden State Valkyries during this 2025 WNBA season. During the preseason Bibby appeared in two games, averaging 5.0 points and 1.5 rebounds per game. After re-signing with the Valkyries on June 15, Bibby played five games with the team before being waived on June 30. During her second stint with the team, Bibby averaged 6.4 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. Bibby's best performance came against the Indiana Fever on June 19 when she scored 12 points on 4-of-9 shooting. The 6-foot-2 forward knocked down a pair of 3-pointers in that 88-77 win over Indiana. Bibby also grabbed three rebounds, assisted once and came away with a steal in the Valkyries' win. 'Spacing the floor, that's part of our philosophy, right? ' Valkyries coach Natalie Nakase told reporters after that June 19 game. 'So, she fits in really well with the fact that she's a big that can space the floor. But then, you know, on the other end, she's really physical. She can get rebounds. So yeah, Chloe is like a Swiss Army knife.' Bibby also helped her national team, the Australia Opals, to a gold medal in the 2025 FIBA Women's Asia World Cup earlier this month. Two years prior, Bibby also guided the Opals to a bronze medal in the 2022 FIBA World Cup in Sydney. Bibby also has extensive overseas experience, including being named the Polish League MVP while with the AZS AJP Gorzow Wielkopolski in the 2023-24 season, and MVP of the Liga Femenina de Baloncesto in Spain with the Spar Girona in the 2024-25 season. During her collegiate career, Bibby spent three seasons at Mississippi State before playing her final two seasons at Maryland where she averaged 13.2 and 11.9 points per game during the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons, respectively. Bibby was a second-team All-Big Ten selection at Maryland in 2022 and honorable mention All-Big Ten in 2021. 'I'm just competitive,' Bibby told Matthew Walter of 'I think over the years, with having that and growing that confidence in my shot to where if I get it and I'm open, and I know that's the right shot, I'm gonna shoot it, and I feel confident with that… I'd love to have a stint in the W, I'd like to be here full time. That's obviously a goal, it's the best league in the world for a reason." Indiana had an open roster spot after beginning the season with just 11 players. In the WNBA, seven-day contracts may be signed in the season's second half. Under a seven-day contract, players earn the prorated minimum base salary. Players can sign up to three seven-day contracts with a single team, but can sign with multiple teams during that time. The seven-day contract affords WNBA teams flexibility when they might not want to commit to a guaranteed contract, though teams can also elect to sign those players to a rest-of-season contract at any point. Indiana Fever Sign New Player Amid Caitlin Clark's Absence
Indiana Fever Sign New Player Amid Caitlin Clark's Absence originally appeared on The Spun. With Caitlin Clark still recovering from an injury, the Indiana Fever are adding more depth as they try to endure life without her. On Friday, the Fever announced the signing of basketball veteran Chloe Bibby to a seven-day contract. The 27-year-old Australian basketball star made her WNBA debut for the Golden State Valkyries, scoring 32 points over her five games with the team. But while her WNBA experience may be limited, she's been playing pro basketball since she was a teenager and has won multiple titles at the international level. "Earlier this month, Bibby helped lead her national team, the Australia Opals, to a gold medal in the 2025 FIBA Women's Asia World Cup. Two years prior, Bibby also guided the Opals to a bronze medal in the 2022 FIBA World Cup in Sydney," the team shared in its announcement of the move. "Bibby also has extensive overseas experience, including being named the Polish League MVP while with the AZS AJP Gorzow Wielkopolski in the 2023-24 season, and MVP of the Liga Femenina de Baloncesto in Spain with the Spar Girona in the 2024-25 season." WNBA fans largely approved of the move, though some noted that it's really more of a tryout than an actual sign that she'll be a long-term part of the team: "Chloe is fantastic, I've been following her since she was like 19 playing for Australia's national team. She just hasn't been able to explode yet," one user wrote on X. "A good signing for some front court depth. Chloe wasn't really going to get much playing time with the Valkyries. She only averaged like 13.2 minutes per game. Chloe averaged 6.4 pts & 2.8 rebounds over 5 games with Golden St plus nearly an assist and steal per game as well. Good but not spectacular bench production. I think she could be a good fit with Boston and Howard," wrote another. "This was the one player who I liked and wanted us to pick up. Unfortunately, this is a direct response to the lack of production we've gotten from Dantas. Her 2 mins last night was a good indicator that she's falling out of the rotation, so our FO signed a stretch big. Smart," a third wrote.
