Khanyi Mbau bags first nomination after 23 years in the industry

Khanyi Mbau is beaming with pride after being nominated for the Netflix Reality Universe Superlatives in the Main Character category for her reality TV show stint on Netflix. She is nominated alongside other notable reality TV stars including Jess from The Perfect Match , Harry from Too Hot to Handle , Ryan of Owning Manhattan , and Chrishell of Selling Sunset — making her the only African in the category. 'I have never been nominated for any of my TV work and this means the world to me. Been in the industry for over 23 years now so this is major. Once I win ... I plan on bringing it back home to my abundance angels. This win would be a symbol to my girls that giving up is never an option. Someone will recognise your effort one day. Keep going,' Khanyi told TshisaLIVE. 'What sets me apart from all the other nominees is that I am from the best country on earth — South Africa. No DNA ... our country is heaven.' As an actress, Khanyi has featured in two Netflix films, Happiness Ever After , and Meet The Khumalos, aside from other productions on other platforms. Her reality TV show stints include Young, Famous and African (YFA) — which bagged her the nomination — as well as Mbau Reloaded — Always Rise on BET, which honed in on her juggling motherhood and business. 'I would say reality TV is basically what the word 'reality' is! I keep it real 100. It's the only way I can sleep at night and be OK with myself after every season. 'I keep it genuine, I have never been for the market of fitting in or being liked, nor do I compete for number one, but I am in the business of making my audience feel. Good or bad, I need you to feel. Because it's through emotion that one connects to self.' While Nadia Nakai recently revealed that she is not going to be in the upcoming season of YFA , Khanyi was evasive in confirming whether she would be part of the show, saying the show is her 'baby' and the future will tell. 'Africa has become a big-time player in the global entertainment industry. The show has brought seasoned celebrities into your homes allowing you to see what it takes to belong to your audience while navigating your own life and its challenges, but also that it's not a far-fetched dream to become anything you desire." While there have been disputes surrounding the title of the show and the cast of the crew which has featured Zari Hassan, Swanky Jerry, Annie Macaulay-Idibia, Naked DJ, Andile Ncube, Diamond Platnumz and others, Khanyi said people need to shed light on why they are called 'young'. 'We think young is only applicable when you are at a certain age but young is a state of mind, you are as young as your dreams are. The show is not Youth Famous and African, so you are as young as you want to be ... in Beyoncé's voice, 'forever young'." Some might think that reality TV could be damaging to a brand and shy away from doing it, but for Khanyi, she has reaped a positive impact from her involvement. 'Being an actress and a reality star with influencer marketing opportunities has impacted my life in a tremendous way. It's given me access to the most influential people on the planet, global access to incredible experiences and it has truly educated me on life, it's an ongoing trip of self-discovery. I am grateful for the exposure. Professionally, I have met key people who have inspired me to be better, want better and to also inspire and assist those around me selflessly. 'A big shout out and a word of gratitude to Netflix — it has changed so many lives, putting our continent on the world map for industries in entertainment and production.'

G Flip reveals explicit queer terms they had to teach wife Chrishell Stause

Before meeting G Flip, Selling Sunset star Chrishell Stause was clueless about the meaning of 'scissoring'. Three years ago, the actress-turned-reality star hard-launched her relationship with the Australian musician. It was a surprise for many fans of the Netflix series, as well as Chrishell herself, who had never even considered she was queer before meeting G, who is non-binary. At the time they were met with a wave of a support from fans, however also faced shocking homophobia and claims their relationship was simply a 'PR stunt'. But a few years on, the pair are stronger than ever. Speaking to Metro during Pride Month, and after performing at the queer favourite festival Mighty Hoopla in London, G has reflected on their whirlwind rise to fame, their relationship with Chrishell, and what else is in the works music-wise. For those unfamiliar with G, they began playing the drums at the age of nine, initially having plans to pursue a career playing in bands. But after deciding to have a go at going solo, in 2018 they uploaded their debut single About You to the music discovery platform Triple J Unearthed. The song took off and kick-started G's career, with the singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist going on to release debut album About Us in 2019. That was followed by Drummer in 2023, which debuted at the top of Australia's ARIA Album Charts and saw G tour it twice across the UK last year. During G's UK shows, they regularly broke down in tears, thanking fans for their support, especially considering their team didn't anticipate just how many fans were in the UK. 'I feel like I didn't know I had any people who knew my music on this side of the world until last year. We put on one show and no-one, including my booking manager and agent, thought we would sell it out and then we did it for three shows. Then we realised, 'oh sh**', we actually have a bigger fan base here than we knew about, so then we came back and played other shows,' they said. 'It's been pretty fun. The shows here are insane – I don't know what's cooking over here, but people be loud and screaming songs! Some of our favourite shows have been in the UK – people really get into it, it's awesome!' A new fan base was undoubtedly introduced to their music when they first appeared on Selling Sunset, a decision G admitted they'd been nervous about. 'I definitely questioned it because reality TV isn't really my bag or my world. I was a little bit anxious, but the thing Chrishell and I spoke about was that it would be so good for queer and nonbinary representation,' they said. 'But I was a bit scared…it's reality TV but there's also eight f***ing cameras in the room…that's still so weird to me.' However, G added: 'It led some people to my music, and I am very lucky to have people who are supportive of us and also my music and dreams.' However, with the newfound attention, G and Chrishell also faced hostility. 'We have a lot of hate online from trolls and keyboard warriors who are always DM'ing us or commenting on our photos. I'm not much of a comment reader to be honest – I never have been – but what people say about me, or my relationship doesn't affect me,' they explained. 'It doesn't make me feel insecure because I feel really secure in my relationship and gender identity and sexuality and who I am, so if people tell me 'you're not non-binary, you're a girl' I just shrug it off.' After meeting at a Halloween party in 2021, G and Chrishell were friends before romance blossomed, with the latter previously speaking about initially rejecting G's advances thinking she was only interested in men. So, when they did start dating, G joked Chrishell, now 43, had a lot to learn. 'What's beautiful about Chrishell is that she was so eager to learn and started asking me so many questions. We had deep talks about pronouns and me being non-binary and she would ask if she should step in if people didn't get my pronouns right. 'Really cute sh** like that, which is why I love and adore her so much. She did ask me what a U-Haul lesbian was. All the queer terms that we use. I told her what a top and bottom were and what scissoring was. It was fun. A few years on she is very up to speed and is now the teacher for other people,' G laughs. Since being catapulted into the spotlight globally through their relationship, G has been inundated with people sharing their own coming out stories. 'I take seriously when people look up to me. I think it's really beautiful and I hold it really close to my heart to be the best representation I can be for the non-binary and queer community. I love the community and living authentically who you are is such a euphoric experience and I want everyone to feel that. If I have in any way helped them discover who they are, then I am doing my job,' they said. Last week G released their latest song Big Ol' Hammer, which they called 'the queerest song I've ever written'. 'It's camp, tongue-in-cheek, fun, and not to be taken too seriously. When I wrote it, I immediately knew I wanted to release it during Pride.' Performing in the UK not long after the Supreme Court's controversial decision on defining what it means to be a woman, G weighed in. 'I would want to know more so I could get my wording right on what the ruling was, but gender is a spectrum. I am non-binary and that is who I am. How you feel in your gender is how you feel in your gender. 'When people say 'there is two genders and nothing else' that is just not the case. The world is evolving, and gender and sexuality is. It's forever changing and it's beautiful. 'There are sh** times happening but it's also making us as a community come together and fight and be united, so it's really beautiful in that sense that it's bringing us closer.' More Trending Speaking about living in the US at a time when the rights of queer and transgender people are under threat, G said it was unsettling but was also feeling hopeful. 'I am feeling for my trans brothers and sisters out there, and it is such a hard time, but I feel the community is coming together and holding each other closer and Pride events happening this month, we have each other's backs which is really beautiful for see,' they said. 'I think in times and years to come we will look back and it will obviously be a sad and a hard time, but we will also remember how we had each other's backs, which I think is beautiful in dark times.' G-Flip's latest singles Disco Cowgirl and Big Ol' Hammer are out now, with an album and planned UK tour dates on the way. Got a story? EXCLUSIVE Chrishell Stause exposes Love Triangle's biggest FBoy as she lifts the lid on behind-the-scenes secrets from the explosive reunion event: 'He just wanted to sleep with her'

Chrishell Stause has been flown in as a very special guest to host Stan 's much-anticipated season three Love Triangle reunion. And on Tuesday, the Selling Sunset star, 43, didn't hold back when it came to calling out Bernie for his 'gross behaviour' and questionable motives after footage of his secret tryst with Chloe was played back in front to the cast. 'It was just so obvious to me,' Chrishell said. 'He shut down immediately when the daters didn't look a certain way. He wasn't open to taking any form of accountability. 'I understand that's your preference, but the whole point of the show is to be open. I feel like he robbed the other daters of the experience. That already says something about him.' But it was Bernie's short-lived tryst with Chloe that left Chrishell fuming. 'He wooed somebody from another triangle and dumped her right before [the reunion]… It was very clear to me he wanted to sleep with Chloe,' she said. 'He told her whatever she wanted to hear to do that and he didn't want to then be on TV with a girlfriend. He wanted to go out and sleep with whoever he wanted. It's just gross behaviour. 'Whether he wants to admit it or not – and I hope he gets to a place where he can – that was his intention. And I wanted to push him to own it.' Since attending the reunion back in November, Sydney-based Bernie has refused to take any accountability for his behaviour, refused to speak to any the cast or even acknowledge his involvement on the show. 'It's not surprising to me or anyone probably that's dealt with someone like him. He's very charming,' Chrishell explained. 'You see why, he probably, ends up hurting a lot of people because he's never going to be that guy that's able, I don't wanna say that. 'Maybe watching the show back will help him, but I feel like he's gotten away so far... [He's] really just getting away with a lot of things because he thinks he can, and, leading people on and ends up hurting people. 'I think it's nice for people to be able to watch someone like that where it's okay, I'm sure a lot of people have fallen for this before.' The US-based reality star revealed she was shown rough edits of episodes before filming the reunion, which helped her prepare to hold the cast accountable. 'The show hadn't come out yet, so I was being shown rough edits of the episodes before they went to air,' she explained. 'I also got to talk with the producers because I wanted to know – wait, are they really like this? The way that it's coming across? 'I come from Selling Sunset, and I've seen where sometimes something can really be turned on its head and it's not how it went. But that is not the case with this show.' Chrishell said the producers even kept her from meeting the cast until the moment she walked out onto the set. 'They held me back from meeting them until I actually walk out. So yeah, it was just a crazy situation to be able to ask all the questions I wanted to – as if I was an audience member,' she explained. And she didn't hold back on those questions, particularly when it came to men avoiding accountability on dating shows. 'I'm such a lover, I really root for love. But I want people to not be able to get away with that behaviour anymore. Nowadays with social media, it's helped shine a light on things people used to get away with,' she said. 'Bernie is a perfect example. If this show aired years ago, he would've gotten away with it like gangbusters. But we're in a new age now. Women are sharpening up, we're sharing our experiences. 'Gaslighting didn't even used to be a word – we didn't know what it was. Now we know the signs, and we're not falling for it.' When asked how she spots someone faking it for the cameras, Chrishell was quick to point out a clear sign. 'Their words don't match their actions,' she explained. 'If someone is saying they're here for love, but when they thought nobody was paying attention, they spoke about women in a degrading way… that tells you everything. 'They're not looking for love – they need to learn how to love themselves first.' Despite the takedowns, Chrishell insisted she genuinely wants these men to learn and grow from the experience. 'I do root for them to get better. I hope they watch this back and are able to reflect. I've been on Selling Sunset, and the world bombards you with feedback – but sometimes that feedback helps,' she said. 'If you're able to take it on the chin and reflect, it'll make you a better person.' Having starred on The Traitors and numerous reality shows herself, Chrishell said she's was thrilled sitting in the host's seat for Stan. 'I did The Traitors, which filmed in Australia as well – but I'm definitely staying in the host seat for now,' she laughed. 'It's a lot more stressful being in the hot seat!' So would she return for another season? 'Absolutely. I loved working with Stan. I would do it again in a heartbeat,' she said. 'I think we need to find more daters who are genuinely open to the process. 'There's justice to be had for some of the people who went into this with the right heart – and didn't get the outcome they deserved.' Chrishell even floated the idea of bringing Love Triangle to the US. 'America would love this show – it was so juicy. My jaw dropped so many times!' she said. And while she and her Aussie partner G Flip are still based in LA, Chrishell didn't rule out a future move Down Under. 'We always have that as an option,' she teased. 'We love Australia – it's always on the board of possibilities.' As for the advice she'd give to the cast now that the reunion has aired? 'It's going to be hard. There's a lot of criticism that comes with being on a public platform. But if you can be open to feedback - even the bad stuff - you'll come out of it a better person,' she concluded. Watch every episode of Love Triangle only on Stan.

Chrishell Stause shares VERY racy comment about her sex life with partner G Flip

Chrishell Stause shared a very racy comment under her singer spouse G Fli p's latest music post on Wednesday as she gave an insight into their sex life. The Selling Sunset star, 43, and her nonbinary partner proved the passion is well and truly alive in their relationship after the singer teased some of their new single. G Flip - who uses 'they/them' pronouns - and Chrishell started dating in March 2022 and went public with their relationship that May before marrying in secret in Las Vegas in July. On Wednesday G Flip sang along to a part of their new single Disco Cowgirl which ended with them singing one long high note. Chrishell then cheekily commented under the post: 'You've made me hit that note before. Love.' Their fans went wild at the admission as they penned under the comment: 'YES MISSUS', 'Now that's the tea!!!', 'giiiirl.' The Selling Sunset star, 43, and her nonbinary partner proved the passion is well and truly alive in their relationship after the singer teased some of their new single The racy confession comes after Chrishell opened up about her fertility process with G Flip. The couple first met at a Halloween party in 2021, approximately two years after the collapse of Chrishell's marriage to This Is Us star Justin Hartley. Now Chrishell has disclosed that she and G Flip are 'actively trying' to expand their family and have taken medical steps towards their goal. 'I'm literally still bleeding from a shot I had to just give myself,' Chrishell shared while speaking to Us Weekly at the Tryst hotel opening in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The development comes nearly three years after G Flip openly declared a desire to have children with Chrishell. 'I definitely see children in my future,' G Flip said on the PEOPLE Every Day podcast in May 2022, the month Chrishell announced their relationship on Selling Sunset. 'Right now, me and Chrishell know where we are in the stages of our lives. And we're very transparent about that,' the Australian singer added. 'I love children. I was a music teacher for years before I became a session drummer and then a solo artist. So I was like, I've always loved kids and yeah, definitely one day that'll be in the future,' G Flip confirmed. Chrishell then cheekily commented under the post: 'You've made me hit that note before. Love' Their fans went wild at the admission as they penned under the comment: 'YES MISSUS', 'Now that's the tea!!!', 'giiiirl' Chrishell's previous relationship was with her boss Jason Oppenheim, co-owner of the real estate brokerage whose employees form the main cast of Selling Sunset. Jason and Chrishell dated for a few months in 2021, but ultimately went their separate ways because of their different views of having children. In the wake of their split, he wrote on Instagram that he and Chrishell had 'different wants regarding a family,' while she also confirmed on social media that their 'ideas for family' were 'ultimately' not 'aligned' with one another. Shedding further light on the specific difference, she said: 'Men have the luxury of time that women don't and that's just the way it goes.' Chrishell's last marriage was to This Is Us heartthrob Justin Hartley, whom he married in October 2017 before filing for divorce two years later. She then tearfully claimed on Selling Sunset that Justin informed her of the divorce filing over text and then '45 minutes later, the world new.' A source later said Justin was 'irritated that she's airing their private information publicly and knows there is more to the story than is being told,' via Us Weekly. Justin tied the knot with Blood And Treasure actress Sofia Pernas just three months after he and Chrishell finalized their divorce. Chrishell recently told Daily Mail Australia exclusively that she found love with G Flip after shedding any preconceptions about what she wanted in a romance. 'I am all for falling in love with the person and I don't think it really matters how tall someone is, what colour hair someone has, personally I don't care what gender someone is,' explained the actress and reality star. 'I just feel like the perfect person should speak from a point of, if you went by exactly what you think you want, you might miss the best catch that there ever was for you. In throwing all that out of the window, I found my soulmate.'
