Mandy Moore's This is Us co-star Chrissy Metz shares update after 'life-altering' house fire
This is Us star Chrissy Metz offered an update on how her friend and co-star Mandy Moore is doing after losing her home in the deadly Los Angeles fires in January. Metz, 44, who revealed she has lost 100 pounds, told Extra that Moore and her family were 'doing well,' as they try to rebuild their lives. Moore, 43, lost her house in the Eaton fire, in east Los Angeles county. 'A lot of the structure was able to be salvaged, which is great, but it's so jarring,' Metz told the outlet. 'It's so life-altering, and she has children and pets. It's just frightening because there's nothing you can do but hopefully get out of there.' Moore shared the house with her husband Taylor Goldsmith and their three kids; sons Gus, four, and Ozzie, two and daughter Lou, 10 months. .Mandy Moore, 41, and her family are 'doing well' after losing their homes in the deadly LA fires in January according to her former co-star Chrissy Metz, 43 Metz's latest project is focused around another deadly California fire that ravaged the small mountain town of Paradise, CA in 2018. She plays the title character in Faith in the Flames: The Nichole Jolly Story. The Emmy nominee said she was hesitant to sign on for the project at first. 'I love a true story, and I love a heroic true story,' she said. 'However, there was fire involved, and I was like, "I don't know if I'm the girl for the job… Maybe I can't do it, like, physically and mentally, emotionally,"' adding, 'It's a lot. And it's real fire.' Talking to the real Nichole Jolly seemed to help steady Metz's nerves. 'We talked for a couple of hours. I asked her so many questions. I just don't understand how her brain worked,' she explained. 'I was like, I don't think I could do it, you know? Like, I get overwhelmed if I wake up late.' Jolly responded by telling her, 'I just took one step after another and then you help every single person you can.' Faith in the Flames: The Nichole Jolly Story debuted on Lifetime July 19. As for keeping up with her This Is Us co-stars, Metz relayed that they are in constant contact with each other. 'We all are texting each other. I always text when any projects come out or Sterling with his nominations for Paradise.' Brown received his 10th Emmy nomination for his role as a secret service agent investigating the murder of the president after an environmental catastrophe. If he wins it will be his third Emmy following wins in 2016 for American Crime Story and in 2017 for This is Us.

Mandy Moore Is 'Doing Well' After Her Home Was 'a Near Total Loss' in Eaton Fire, Says Chrissy Metz
NEED TO KNOW January's Eaton fire was one of several wildfires in Los Angeles that left more than 80,000 displaced Mandy Moore was one of the thousands of people who were affected as she previously told her fans her home was "a near total loss" Her former This Is Us costar, Chrissy Metz, gave an update on how Moore is doing in a new interviewFollowing January's Eaton Fire, Mandy Moore is "doing well," says her friend and former This Is Us costar Chrissy Metz. The Eaton Fire was one of a series of wildfires in Los Angeles that left more than 80,000 people displaced, including celebrities like Moore, and destroyed more than 1,000 structures in January. The deadly blaze ignited on Jan. 7 and was fully contained on Jan. 31, along with the Palisades Fire. The PEOPLE Puzzler crossword is here! How quickly can you solve it? Play now! At the time of the catastrophic event, Moore and her husband, Taylor Goldsmith, were renovating their property. According to an Instagram post from fellow designer Emily Farnham, the kitchen had just been completed in December 2024. Six months after the fires, Metz shared in an interview with Extra that Moore is "doing well." "I mean, thank goodness. A lot of the structure was able to be salvaged, which is great, but it's so jarring. It's so life-altering, and she has children and pets," Metz said, referring to Moore's three kids: August "Gus" Harrison, 4, Oscar "Ozzie" Bennett, 1, and Louise Everett, 10 months. "It's just frightening because there's nothing you can do but hopefully get out of there. But she's doing well," said Metz. Days after the fires began, Moore shared with her Instagram followers, "The main part of our house is still standing. For now." "It's not livable but mostly intact. We lost Taylor and griffin's studio with every instrument and piece of equipment they've ever owned. We lost our garage and back house," she wrote, noting that she felt "weird survivors guilt." A month later though, Moore gave another Instagram update on her home, explaining, "We found out this week that while our house is still standing, because of the proximity to the fires/ burning structures (around us on all sides) the contents of our home are a near total loss." "Clothes, furniture, pretty much everything will have to be disposed of…maybe even the walls too," she added. Despite the devastation, she shared in March that she was ready to start rebuilding her home again. Moore shared an Instagram post by her interior designer, Sarah Sherman Samuel, which featured photographs of the guest house kitchen that was once a part of her home. The 44-year-old This Is Us star glowed in an appropriately summery blue tie-dye dress as she flaunted her impressive 100-pound weight loss on the red carpet. Her stunning display comes after the actress revealed some of the secrets to how she achieved her slimmed-down figure in an exclusive conversation with Metz made a grand entrance at the Santa Monica Proper Hotel ahead of the release of her Lifetime movie Faith In The Flames: The Nichole Jolly Story, which will air on the network on Saturday, July 19. Her Summer Soirée look featured a navy blue dress with alternating tie dye–style stripes in robin egg blue, gold and amber. Metz paired the lustrous dress with classy black open-toe shoes, and she added an extra splash of color with her red pedicure and matching lips. The 44-year-old This Is Us star glowed in an appropriately summery blue tie-dye dress as she flaunted her impressive 100-pound weight loss on the red carpet; pictured before her weight loss on the right in February 2023 The actress wore her brunette hair parted down the middle and let it cascade down her shoulders in thick wavy strands. Chrissy, who weighed in on whether she would ever take weight-loss drugs like Ozempic while speaking with revealed in her conversation that weight lifting has been an essential part of her health journey in recent months. Metz was joined at the celebration by The Vampire Diaries star Kat Graham, who looked festive in a cream-colored satin dress with tasseled sleeves and a sheer skirt. She also posed with the inspiration for her upcoming lifetime film, the real-life Nichole Jolly. Jolly was among of group of nurses who risked their lives to care for patients amid the devastating Camp Fire that destroyed much of Paradise and its surrounding towns in Northern California's Butte County in November 2018. The registered nurse worked to evacuate patients from the Feather River Hospital, before she tried to drive away from the quickly approaching flames. She described to ABC News at the time how she called her family and shared her fears that she wouldn't make it out of the blaze alive, before her vehicle was rear-ended by another driver and pushed off the road, forcing her to flee on foot. Sparks burning debris rained down around her, setting her pants on fire, and she took refuge in a parked car that a doctor from the hospital was sitting in, but she soon had to run out of that car after it too filled up with toxic smoke. 'I thought I was gonna die right there,' the nurse recalled. 'There was no oxygen.' But she ran straight into a miracle as a passing fire crew saw her and stopped to fully extinguish her burning clothes before pulling her to safety. Jolly survived with only minor burns and blisters, but 85 people lost their lives in the wildfire, which also displaced over 50,000 people and turned more than 18,000 buildings to little more than ash and rubble. 'Nichole's bravery and devotion to others, even when everything around her was collapsing, is something we don't see enough of,' Metz said of the heroic nurse, according to JubileeCast. 'Her story reminds us that faith isn't abstract — it's what we cling to when we have nothing else.' Faith In The Flames premieres on Lifetime on Saturday, July 19, at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT.

The Gentle Workout Helping Chrissy Metz Maintain Her 100-Lb Weight Loss
Chrissy Metz became a household name thanks to her unforgettable role as Kate Pearson in the award-winning drama This Is Us. Since the series finale in 2022, Metz hasn't slowed down. She released her debut country album Prayed for This Day, produced and starred in new film projects (including Faith in the Flames, which debuts on Lifetime July 19) and continued sharing her personal health journey with fans. Here we break down Chrissy Metz's exercise routine—including a new foray into strength training and Pilates—and how it helps her maintain her 100-pound weight loss while feeling her best. Since Metz lost 100 pounds, she has spoken openly about the role that walking and maintaining a calorie deficit played in her success. Fortunately for fans, she's also been candid about the new routines she's exploring. In an April 2025 exclusive with the Daily Mail, Metz revealed that strength training is now a consistent part of her wellness regimen. 'I like lifting weights,' Metz told the Daily Mail. 'I like working out in that regard. So that's been… something that has been new and I've been consistent with. I have a personal trainer in Nashville, and…what's great is, like, he's been through [a] weight loss journey himself. I feel like we have things in common where it's not just, like, why are you doing this?' 'I don't want to be yelled at,' Metz continued. 'I want to be lovingly supported in whatever it is that I'm doing. It doesn't matter what it is. And…I want to age the best way that I can, and I want to be strong and that's really the impetus behind any of it.' On July 3, Metz posted a video reflecting on her first-ever Pilates class. She admitted to feeling nervous and unsure of what to expect, from what to wear to how to use the machine. But that didn't stop her from giving it a try. 'I had no real idea of what to expect,' Metz admitted. But 'the victory is that I went. I tried to face [my fears],' Metz continued, revealing that she now sees why others are fans of the fitness routine. 'I want to stay as healthy as possible and do what's best for my body, my soul and my spirit,' Metz said in the video of trying new exercise routines. 'I encourage you to do things that you're afraid of or that might get you out of your comfort zone, because you never know what you're going to like.' 'Do the things that you're afraid of… you never know what you're going to like.' —Chrissy Metz Pilates has gained popularity in recent years and has been praised by many for promoting strength and flexibility. But what exactly is the form of fitness people claim is life-changing? 'Pilates is a method of low-impact exercise that focuses on core strength, control and alignment,' says Amanda Dvorak, ISSA-CPT,ISSA-CNC, a Certified Personal Trainer at Garage Gym Reviews. 'It helps build muscle endurance, improve posture and support joint stability. Mentally, it requires focus and breath control, which can help people feel more present and grounded.' There's another variation of Pilates that people opt to try in their health journey called reformer Pilates. 'Reformer pilates uses a machine with springs, straps and a sliding carriage to add resistance and variety,' says Dvorak. 'It tends to offer more full-body engagement and support, especially for people with injuries or mobility issues.' Metz's hesitation to try Pilates is something experts say is completely normal. 'It's common to think you'll be the only one who's new, or the instructor will be mean or people will judge,' says Jill Brown, Master Health, Fitness & Nutrition Coach, Personal Trainer, Nutritionist, Functional Strength Coach and Certified Pilates Instructor at Jill Brown Fitness. 'What I tell my clients who feel nervous about trying a new workout is this: Everyone was new once and everyone remembers their first time. If you feel like people are looking at you, they're actually remembering how they felt their first time and cheering you on to keep going. Chances are no one is watching you even if you think they are, because they are focused on getting their workout done.' Metz shared that her fears were ultimately met with support. 'I got to, thankfully, be instructed by an amazing woman,' said Metz in her video. 'And she was very patient, very affirming and everybody in the class was very nice.' Despite the welcoming community, Metz shared that she felt some level of embarrassment while getting used to the Pilates reformer. 'I felt so silly because I was like, 'oh, what spring, what this, what that?' And turning over and flip-flopping like a fish.' Experts say a learning curve with reformer Pilates is common. 'It's true, reformers are not intuitive machines and the exercises are a bit different than traditional strength training exercises,' says Brown. 'The instructor will tell you how many springs to use for each exercise, and if you don't feel in control, they will have you change the number of springs. It's just like picking up any other kind of weights—if it's too hard (or easy), you simply change the resistance (springs).' Metz shared that despite having an adjustment to her class, she viewed even just attending as a win. 'It was challenging, and it was a beginner class, but it was really meditative and calming, especially in the morning.' Metz closed her video with an encouraging message for those who want to try Pilates themselves. 'If you're thinking about Pilates, just do it,' said Metz. 'Just do it. Even if you fumble through, even if you feel like you look awkward. Who cares? Who cares? Like, nobody is great out of the gate, right?' Keep scrolling for more celebrity health stories!
