At least seven people were wounded in shootings across Chicago during the Fourth of July weekend, according to police. The ages of the victims range from 20 to 52. Shootings from Thursday In the first shooting of the weekend, a man, 49, was near the alley around 5 p.m. in the 300 block of East Kensington Avenue when he was hit by gunfire. He self-transported to Roseland Hospital in serious condition. Hours later, around 8:18 p.m., another man, 40, was in the 300 block of East 117th Street when he was inside a vehicle and was approached by another unknown vehicle. The driver from inside pulled out a gun and then fired shots in the victim's direction, hitting him in the thigh. The victim self-transported to Roseland Hospital in series condition. Chicago police officers later responded to the 0-100 block of North Hamlin Avenue just before 9 p.m., where a man, 36, suffered multiple gunshots about the body. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in series condition. Another man, 33, was shot during an argument in the 11900 block of South Wallace Avenue around 9:30 p.m. Police said the gunman shot the victim and fled the scene. The victim was taken to Christ Hospital in series condition with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. In other shootings from 5 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Monday: Shootings from Friday At 12:04 a.m. in the 3400 block of West Cermak Road a 47-year-old man was traveling on a bicycle when a black SUV drove past, and an unknown people from inside opened fire. The victim was hit in the right flank and was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in serious condition. At 1:54 a.m. in the 9700 block of South Harvard Avenue, a 20-year-old man told police that he was driving when he got into an argument with unknown men driving in two separate vehicles, who pulled out guns and shot at the victim. The victim suffered a graze wound to the left eye and was taken to Christ Hospital in good condition. At 2 a.m. in the 3400 block of West 62nd Place, CPD officers found the victim, a 52-year-old man, unresponsive. A witness told them that two unknown men approached the victim on foot and shot at him. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the back and died at the scene. Unless otherwise noted, no arrests were made in either incident. Three children were being treated at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn Friday after the driver of a pickup truck crashed into a church in Palos Park early Friday evening, police said. According to Palos Park police, the driver was eastbound McCarthy Road shortly after 4:30 p.m. when he apparently suffered a medical emergency and veered off 123rd Street, crossed 86th Avenue and into the parking lot of The Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration before crashing into the building. Police said investigators were with the families of three children at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn who were being treated for their injuries. The driver of the pick up truck was taken to Palos Northwestern with Palos Park officers. Police said one church staff member suffered a medical emergency while the fire department was on the scene and she was taken to Palos Northwestern. Two Palos Park police officers were hospitalized for inhalation of smoke and construction debris while trying to get to the children inside the church, police said. Palos Park Police and village staff are working with the church staff and other agencies during the active investigation.

COOK COUNTY - A pickup truck slammed into a church in Palos Park on Friday afternoon, sending several people to area hospitals — including three children and two police officers. What we know The crash happened shortly after 4:30 p.m. near the intersection of 123rd Street and 86th Avenue. According to Palos Park police, the driver of the pickup was heading east on McCarthy Road when they apparently suffered a medical emergency. The truck veered off 123rd Street, crossed 86th Avenue, and continued through the parking lot of Transfiguration Church before crashing into the building. Three children were hurt inside the church and were taken to Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn. Their injuries are being treated, and police say investigators are with their families at the hospital. Two Palos Park police officers were also hospitalized after they inhaled smoke and construction debris while trying to rescue the children from inside the damaged church. The driver of the pickup truck was taken to Palos Northwestern Hospital. A church staff member also experienced a medical emergency at the scene and was transported to the same hospital. As of Friday night, 86th Avenue remains closed between 119th and 123rd Streets. What we don't know It's unclear what caused the driver's apparent medical emergency. Woman charged with DUI in deadly Chicago Lawn hit-and-run crash

A woman appeared in court Friday, charged with DUI in the deadly hit-and-run of a 75-year-old man on the city's South Side. Nyamca Tolefree, 29, is facing several charges, including failure to report an accident and driving under the influence. Just before 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, police said she was heading northbound in the 7000 block of South Western Avenue in a silver SUV when she hit the victim in the street. Fire crews took him to Christ Hospital with severe trauma from the crash, and he later died. Police said the SUV continued on but was eventually stopped, and Tolefree was taken into custody. No additional information was immediately available.
