Inter Milan – Rich, Resilient & Ready For The Fight?

Inter Milan just posted one of the best financial seasons in its recent history and paradoxically, one of the most emotionally frustrating ones for its fans. The club walked away with over €500 million in total revenues for the 2024–25 season, made it to the Champions League final (second time in three years), earned prize money from the FIFA Club World Cup. At the beginning of 2024 season Inter was valued about 1.2 billion USD and now it is the second most valued Serie A team. With an estimated enterprise value of €1.7 billion USD, a 20% increase compared to last year.… and yet, ended the season without a single trophy. After the brutal 5–0 defeat to PSG in the Champions League final, a humiliation that still hurts in fan's hearts, and a one-point miss in the Scudetto race to Napoli, Inter fans were left wondering: Can this team really deliver when it matters most? Now, with a new coach and new ownership, the question is not only if Inter can perform but if they can transform into the winning machine. Simone Inzaghi, who brought focus and tactical stability during turbulent times since Covid, left Inter. That is after winning a total of six trophies. He has taken a high-paying job in Saudi Arabia joining the Al-Hilal for two-year with a contract worth $50 million. The second highest paid coach in the world. Christian Chivu – Treble Hero Given Keys To The Inter Milan First Team SEATTLE, WASHINGTON – JUNE 21: Cristian Chivu, Head Coach of FC Internazionale Milano, looks on during the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 group E match between FC Internazionale Milano and Urawa Red Diamonds at Lumen Field on June 21, 2025 in Seattle, Washington. (Photo by) In his place steps Cristian Chivu, a club legend and youth team coach who is beloved but untested at this level. It's a bold, emotionally intelligent choice one that signals Inter's appetite for new risk and new paths forwards. Chivu knows the club, knows the pressure, and understands what it means to wear the Nerazzurri jersey. But sentiment won't be enough. Fortunately, Inter isn't walking into the new season empty-handed. Fortunately, Inter isn't walking into the new season empty-handed. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter is willing to spend around €100 million on new signings this summer. A dramatic departure from the club's recent conservative transfer policy. For many fans skeptical of Oaktree Capital's arrival, this is the first tangible proof that the new owners are not just here to balance the books they're here to win. And they're already spending. Inter has invested nearly €70 million in four new players. These Include Ange-Yoan Bonny, Luis Henrique, Petar Sucic, and Nicola Zalewski. These are not superstar names at least not yet but they are hungry, athletic, and chosen with a purpose. This is a squad refresh, not just a facelift. (Photo by Guido) Importantly, the club now has the firepower to keep spending. From the FIFA Club World Cup, despite an early exit, Inter earned around €31.5 million in prize money, per FCInterNews. Add to that the nearly €100 million brought in from their Champions League run, and you begin to see the new financial engine that Oaktree has helped build. Inter's total revenues in 2024–25 surpassed half a billion Euros. A staggering figure for a club that not long ago was in deep financial disarray. But here's the paradox. Inter Milan is healthier than ever off the pitch, but it still needs to prove itself on it given the high expectations created. The fans want more than earnings reports and balance sheets. They want trophies. They want pride. And after coming so painfully close on multiple fronts last season, there's a quiet pressure building at the club. Ademola Lookman On The Way In? DUBLIN, IRELAND – MAY 22: Ademola Lookman of Atalanta BC bites their winner's medal as he celebrates victory after the UEFA Europa League 2023/24 final match between Atalanta BC and Bayer 04 Leverkusen at Dublin Arena on May 22, 2024 in Dublin, Ireland. (Photo by) The next steps will depend heavily on how quickly the new team members can gel. Whether Chivu can take the step up from youth football to the main stage. Furthermore, if the core squad can bounce back mentally from a year of near-misses. And weather some of the big names like Atalanta super star Ademola Lookman which can be acquired in time for the scudetto kick off. This is not a transition season it's a validation one. Chivu brings identity. Oaktree brings discipline and financial fire-power. The money is there, and so are the expectations. Now, Inter must prove that being rich and resilient isn't enough. It's time to be ruthless and invest with the fans! By: Andrea Zanon

Inter Milan Set To Begin Preseason Training Next Week, With Wantaway Midfielder Scheduled For Earlier Return

Inter Milan are due to report back for preseason training on Saturday ahead of the new campaign, but Hakan Calhanoglu is amongst a group of players set to come back earlier. As reported in today's newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, and via Christian Chivu's squad will join up on 26 July to begin physical preparations as they look to improve on last season's trophyless campaign. Friendlies have been arranged for next month, with Inter travelling to Monte Carlo to face Monaco on 8 August, before taking on Monza four days later and finishing off with a clash against Olympiacos in Bari on 16 August. Calhanoglu, who has been heavily linked with a departure this summer, will report back to the Appiano Gentile training centre on Wednesday in order to carry out assessments on a slight calf injury. He will be joined by Nicola Zalewski, Benjamin Pavard, and Yann Bisseck, with the group all suffering minor injuries during Inter's Club World Cup campaign this summer. The major absentee once the squad regroup will be midfielder Davide Frattesi, with the ex-Sassuolo man undergoing surgery and not due back until mid-August.

Inter Continue to Pursue Parma and Genoa Defenders

Inter bolstered other roles in the early going, but their dated intention of getting younger in the back hasn't changed, nor have their main targets, Giovanni Leoni and Koni De Winter, whom they have scouted all year long. According to Alfredo Pedullà, the Nerazzurri are on great terms with both Parma and Genoa. Christian Chivu's appointment tips the scale in favor of the Italian prodigy. However, it'll take a significant investment to convince the counterparty, which would like to keep him a while longer. The Scudetto runner-ups just brokered the loan of Valentin Carboni to the Rossoblù. Advertisement Per La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter covet Leoni, but the Ducali might budge only in front of a €40M offer, while the Liguria-based team could agree to sell De Winter for €25M. Feyenoord's David Hancko represents an older fallback. The Nerazzurri would prefer to straight-up fortify their rearguard without losing anybody. They'd be open to making a 'plusvalenza' on Yann Aurel Bisseck only for mammoth offers, which haven't arrived. He's highly likely to stay. If there's an odd man out, it'll be Francesco Acerbi, but the front office and the coaching staff are OK with keeping him in a reduced role. They will let him go if he receives an enticing proposal, but won't pay a €500k clause present in his contract just to get rid of him. Our Take on Inter Tracking Leoni and De Winter There was a lot of impetus about this in the months leading up to the summer, and it's strange that they haven't acted on it sooner. They might be waiting for Parma, from which they already poached Chivu and Ange-Yoan Bonny, to unbend about partying ways with their prospect.

Inter Milan, Monterrey join Dortmund in Club World Cup last 16

Inter Milan kept their cool to beat nine-man River Plate 2-0 and reach the Club World Cup last 16 on Wednesday, while Mexican side Monterrey followed them through from Group E. Borussia Dortmund defeated Ulsan HD 1-0 to claim top spot in Group F and the Germans will face Sergio Ramos' Monterrey, who thrashed Urawa Red Diamonds 4-0. Argentine powerhouses River Plate were eliminated after their defeat by Inter, who will take on more South American opposition on Monday in Charlotte, in the shape of Fluminense. The Brazilian side could only draw 0-0 against South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns but it was enough to claim second place behind Dortmund. Champions League runners-up Inter faced a battle in Seattle against an aggressive River Plate side who had Lucas Martinez and Gonzalo Montiel sent off in front of 45,000 fans at Lumen Field. Francesco Esposito scored his first Inter goal to put the Italians ahead and Alessandro Bastoni made the game safe late on for Christian Chivu's side. "In the first half we were surprised by their intensity, aggression and pressure," said Chivu. "Then in the second half we raised our level of intensity... we're strong, confident and have players who can play such a game." With Monterrey ahead against Urawa, River needed a winner to progress but their job got harder when Martinez was sent off after 66 minutes for hacking down veteran Henrikh Mkhitaryan. Six minutes later teenage striker Esposito steered home the opener to leave River on the brink. Bastoni ensured Inter's progress as he drilled home, before River's Gonzalo Montiel picked up a second yellow and was dismissed. There were ugly scenes at the end as River fans threw objects at Inter players leaving the pitch. Both Argentine teams at the tournament, River and their rivals Boca Juniors, have been eliminated despite their fans creating vibrant atmospheres. "It's a shame for all the people who came en masse to watch the team that we couldn't give them the chance to keep going," said disappointed River coach Marcelo Gallardo. Three goals in a nine-minute first half spell helped Monterrey defeat Urawa at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena in front of a crowd of only 14,000. Nelson Deossa smashed home a spectacular long-distance effort to open the scoring and German Berterame rolled the second in at the far post. Former Porto winger Jesus Corona walloped home the third with another fine effort from over 30 yards out, and Berterame struck again late on, as the Japanese side departed with three defeats. "This is what we were looking for, we gave everything -- from the first match until this one, they've all been tough," said Berterame. Monterrey face Dortmund in Atlanta on Tuesday. - Dortmund claim top spot - A solitary first-half goal by Daniel Svensson earned Dortmund top spot in Group F in sweltering Cincinnati heat. Dortmund's second straight victory by a one-goal margin, following their 4-3 defeat of Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday, was watched by only just over 8,000 spectators in Cincinnati, among them US Vice President JD Vance and FIFA chief Gianni Infantino. "We can be satisfied. I think our performance was better than in the first two matches," said Dortmund coach Niko Kovac. He has spoken regularly at the tournament about the difficulties posed by the searing June heat in the United States. "What the boys are doing is incredible. Thirty-six degrees Celsius (96.8 degrees Fahrenheit) and 43 degrees in the stadium," Kovac said. Ulsan go home with three defeats from three games, while Fluminense are through after their draw against Sundowns, meaning all four Brazilian teams in the competition have progressed to the knockout phase. Sundowns' exit means none of the four African clubs who came to the tournament will feature in the last 16, but their performances mean they can go home with their heads held high. "We leave and go home with our heads up because we are much stronger than we were when we came here," said the South African champions' coach, Miguel Cardoso. On Thursday Manchester City face Juventus in a battle for top spot in Group G, while Spanish giants Real Madrid face RB Salzburg as they bid to progress from Group H.
