Toddler Falls Asleep, Reaction When She Wakes Up in Disneyland Is Priceless

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A toddler has gone viral for her reaction to waking up in the most magical place on Earth—and having no idea what's going on. Brittany Christiana, 36, a content creator from Granby, Connecticut, is mom to two daughters, including 2-year-old Violet, whose reaction to waking up at Disneyland has been viewed millions of times. Speaking to Newsweek, Christiana explained the family had been invited to a Pull-Ups potty training party in California—and, as it was their first time in the state, decided to make the most of it with a mini family vacation. "After the event, we had just a few hours to explore Disneyland—and Violet was exhausted," Christiana said. The toddler "fell asleep during the end of the party, [and] stayed asleep through the entrance to the park"—and ended up waking up halfway through the famous "It's A Small World" ride. "At two and a half, she's not super talkative yet, so she truly had no idea we were even going to Disneyland," Christiana said. "When she finally woke up, she was completely stunned, and we couldn't stop laughing." A video of Violet's reaction was posted to Christiana's TikTok account @brittikitty on July 12, where it has been viewed close to 12 million times. It shows Christiana carrying a sleeping Violet through the sunlit park, with the toddler still fast asleep as the family sits in the boat and an automated voice tells guests to "watch your children." The video then switches to Violet waking up on her mom's shoulder very suddenly, jumping up with her eyes wide, as they travel through a dark corridor with luminescent sea creatures on either side and the famous song blaring from all around. Violet is carried through the park asleep and wakes up on the ride. Violet is carried through the park asleep and wakes up on the ride. TikTok @brittikitty Violet leans back, blinking slowly with her eyes as wide as saucers, and doesn't say a word as she takes it all in with confusion written across her face, her family all bursting out laughing. "Violet's reaction to waking up mid-'It's a Small World' with ZERO knowledge we were even going to Disneyland," Christiana wrote over the video, adding in a caption: "She literally had no idea we were even going to Disneyland! She slept the WHOLE time until this ride!" TikTok users were in stitches, awarding the video more than 2.1 million likes, as one joked it "would be so funny to stay until she sleeps again and then go home without referencing the day," another agreeing: "For the rest of her life you have to say you never went. This was all in her head." Another shared their own story: "My parents took me on 'It's a Small World' at Disneyland Paris when I was like 3 and they had to stay on the ride til I fell asleep cause I would scream and cry if they tried to get off the ride, I held them hostage on that ride for so long." "She'll remember this as a vague memory as an adult for sure," another predicted. And one praised Violet: "She did better [than] me. I think I'd cry if I woke up there." Violet wakes up with the song blaring and looks around in bewilderment. Violet wakes up with the song blaring and looks around in bewilderment. TikTok @brittikitty It's A Small World is a quintessential part of the Disney theme park experience, and can be found in the parks in Florida, Paris, Tokyo, Hong Kong and California, where the Christianas were visiting. It was created for the 1964-1965 New York World's Fair, overseen by Walt Disney himself in support of the United Nation's Children's Fund, according to the Disney World website. The ride sees guests sit on a boat which takes them through a miniature version of countries around the world, with hundreds of audio-animatronic dolls singing the famous song. Christiana told Newsweek she never expected Violet's video to "go THAT viral," saying she was "so touched that it brought joy to so many people—her little reaction was pure magic. "She thought she teleported!" Do you have funny and adorable videos or pictures you want to share? Send them to life@ with some extra details, and they could appear on our website.

Rooftop fire strikes Main Event entertainment center in Christiana. Fireworks suspected

Fireworks may have started a fire at the Main Event entertainment complex in Christiana early in the morning of July 5, according to fire officials. The building, located at 2900 Fashion Center Blvd., was reported for an emergency fire dispatch at 5:15 a.m. At 5:56 a.m., a Christiana Fire Company crew, along with some aiding Delaware fire companies, arrived at what was reported as a "structural fire." A column of black smoke was rising from the building's roof, Chief Al Huelsenbeck said. The crew quickly got the roof's situation under control, Huelsenbeck said. However, the crew stayed for over two hours because of concern about the spread of the fire into the rest of the building. "That type of roof deck fire can be significant in flat-roof buildings," he said. "We needed to make sure it was under control." The blaze caused an estimated $500,000 in total damages, with water and smoke damage included, fire officials said. Main Event was closed for the day. Information about the reopening was unavailable. The Edge fitness club, next door to Main Event, remained open. The fire is under investigation by the Delaware State Fire Marshal's Office to determine the cause. However, Huelsenbeck said that "there was physical evidence indicating that fireworks could've been a contributing factor." Huelsenbeck pointed to the fireworks as a consistent danger throughout the evening of July 4. According to the chief, it was the second fire in the Christiana area that may have been related to fireworks that night, with numerous fires in dumpsters, parks and open areas. "People have to realize the danger," Huelsenbeck said. 'Those who choose to use a heavy-caliber type of firework take the risk of taking their house or their neighbor's house." Cyprus: a never ending partition?

Euronews reporter Valerie Gauriat went to island to hear from young Cypriots from both sides of the divide about their perspectives on the ongoing partition, and their visions for the future. 'My generation is dropping down the blame game. We have seen what not to do', says 28-year-old Turkish Cypriot Berk Tansel. 'We have to think of ourselves as part of the whole that we are, whether we like it or not. », echoes Christiana Eftychiou, 22 years old, and a Greek Cypriot. Their friendship grew from a shared commitment to reunification. Cyprus is divided since 1974, when a Greek-backed coup triggered a Turkish military intervention. This led to a split between the internationally recognized Greek Cypriot-controlled Republic of Cyprus, and the self-declared 'Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus' recognized only by Turkey. While the Republic of Cyprus is part of the European Union, EU law does not apply in the breakaway northern entity, which remains under Turkish military presence. Berk and Christiana routinely cross the checkpoints separating the two communities. 'I grew up in the occupied areas of the Republic of Cyprus, and experienced what it means to be a European citizen, but technically not live in the EU where EU acquis is enforced », says Berk. 'Your rights are suspended, there's corruption. And this place being a legal internationally black hole, it pushes the mafia, human trafficking, sex trafficking.' The 'only way out' insists Berk, 'is the agreed UN framework, a bi-zonal, bi-communal federation, where the EU acquis is applied all across the island.' Christiana has more faith in grassroots action than formal politics. 'We need to change the narrative. We have narratives shaping the identity of Greek and Turkish Cypriots, in our education, our everyday life. There's a construction of the 'other person' that you never really get to meet'. A sociology student, she advocates for 'more common spaces, more exposure to whatever we deem as 'the other', so that it is not a threat anymore. This is not being encouraged, on a larger scale.' sighs Christiana. 'If we carry on the way we do, with the idea of a Federation taking a big part in political discourse, but no practical action towards that, nothing will happen.', she warns. Chances of reopening official reunification talks, stalled since 2017, are thin, according to Hubert Faustmann, a professor at the University of Nicosia, and director of the Friedrich-Ebert Foundation's Cyprus Office. 'The Turkish Cypriot and Turkish position has shifted. They insist on the recognition of equal sovereignty, or even of the separatist Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, as a prerequisite for talks. The Greek Cypriot side and the international community will never accept this.' As for the European Union's role, the analyst is skeptical. 'Given that the Greek Cypriot-dominated Republic of Cyprus has joined the EU, Turkey and the Turkish Cypriots reject an active role of the European Union.' he explains, while acknowledging the Cyprus problem is 'a European problem.' 'There's a part of European territory, legally speaking, that's occupied by Turkey. There's an unresolved dispute pitching the European Union against Turkey, with many EU states having no interest in a confrontation with Turkey. While the Greek policy is to use EU membership against Turkey to get concessions in the Cyprus question.', says Faustmann, before concluding: 'This is a stable conflict. It's very much conflict management rather than conflict resolution. I fear the status quo is here for years to come, with this island slowly drifting into permanent partition.'

WATCH — How Ed the zebra got loose and became a meme

It took authorities 9 days to catch him A runaway pet zebra became an online meme for outrunning authorities for nine days in the U.S. Ed the zebra was finally caught in Christiana, Tennessee, on June 8, said the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office. Crews airlifted him from a pasture to a nearby animal trailer. Ed got loose not long after he arrived at his new home. Watch the video below to find out what happened next. ⬇️⬇️⬇️ Ed the internet celebrity While he was loose, videos and photos of Ed were being posted online. Some even made memes of Ed, comparing him to a fugitive on the run. In this AI-generated video, Ed is seen dodging police like in the game Grand Theft Auto. (Video credit: EdTheZebraOnSol/X) Businesses and public services in the area hopped on the trend, too, using Ed in their social media posts. Scroll through to see some examples. Zebras as pets If you're thinking about getting your own pet zebra, it's not that simple. Some U.S. states, like Tennessee, allow people to have zebras and other exotic animals as pets. But in Canada, the rules differ depending on the province, territory or municipality you live in. Generally speaking, animal advocates say it isn't a good idea to keep a wild or exotic pet because of their unique physical and emotional needs. Check out these other videos:
